Chapter 125
Ethan stopped moving towards her and his face morphed into sadness. He started sniffing and Ariana's eyes almost fell out in choke. What was he doing? —She wondered.
"I am not going to hurt you Aria. I just want you to stay away from Calhoun," he said in a sing song manner that sent chills down Ariana's spine.
"Why would I do that Ethan?" Ariana blurted out before she could stop herself.
Ethan was also caught off guard by her question. He could see it in her eyes that she no longer felt a thing for him. His heart turned over in pain but he refused to give up. Ariana was his.
"I will kill myself Aria!" He spat out his eyes looked crazed.
"What?" she questioned unsure if she was hearing him right.
Ethan knew Ariana was a pure soul. she would never let him die. He would use her goodness against her.
"Yes, Aria! If you continue seeing Calhoun, I will kill myself! I will do it Aria. I will—" Ethan didn't get to finish his statement before the elevator jumped to life startling the both of them.
Ariana held her heart in relief as the elevator moving meant who ever was in charge had come to rescue her from Ethan.
"Do not forget Ariana! I will commit suicide and it will be on you!" Ethan whispered as the elevator came to a stop and the door opened. Ethan was the first to leave.
Ariana got down on her knees and started picking up the papers that had fell on the ground. Her hands shook as the whole situation started dawning on her. Ethan had lost his mind and he had become dangerous. She had just being saved from a very critical situation.
She lifted the papers as best as she could and took shaky steps to her apartment. The moment she got in, she collapsed to the ground in tears. It was as if the last energy she had was what she had used to walk into her house and now fear had taken over her body.
What was she going to do?
What if he really committed suicide?
What if he came for her?
She wiped her tears and pulled out her phone from her pocket. She had to talk to Calhoun. She couldn't let Ethan kill himself for her.
"Hello," she whimpered between sobs.
Calhoun heard her voice and he knew something was wrong. "Ariana, what's wrong?"
"Ethan— Ethan came here," she sobbed.
Calhoun was on his feet before she could even complete her statement. "I am coming there right noe. Lock the doors and wait for my call before you open the door," he instructed as he ran out of the office. They could have gone home together but he had late meetings to finish up and he had asked her to ho on home without him.
Calhoun drove as fast as he could till he got to Ariana's apartment. He dialed her number and she unlocked her door immediately.
As soon as she saw his shirt, she fell onto him.
"It's okay, I am here now," Calhoun whispered holding her in his arms.
He led her inside the house and closed the door behind them. "What happened?" He asked her.
"I don't know Calhoun. I don't know if I can do this anymore. Why is everything just going against us?" She cried.
Calhoun furrowed his brows as he tried to understand what her statement meant.
"What is against us?" Calhoun asked after he waited for her to speak but she didn't.
She pulled away from him and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. "Ethan said he would kill himself if I didn't stop seeing you," she breathed.
Calhoun could have laughed but he saw the seriousness on her face and he pulled her closer to him. She actually believed him.
"You think he will really do it?" He asked her.
Ariana swallowed her saliva and nodded her head. "Yes, he will do it Calhoun. I don't want someone's blood on my hands. I don't know what to do..." She trailed off.
Calhoun didn't even want to dwell in her thoughts. He didn't have time for all of that. Ariana was his and no one else's. If Ethan wanted to kill himself, he could do the world a favour and go ahead with it. Calhoun cared less.
He reached his thumb to her face and wiped her tears away from her cheeks.
"First, you need to leave this house. I think Ethan isn't normal anymore," Calhoun said instead. "I don't want him coming back here and meeting you alone."
"But where will I go?" Ariana croaked. The whole situation was choking her. It was over whelming. She only heard of situations like in movies yet it was happening to her.
Calhoun tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before speaking. "I already got you a new place but it will take a few days to fix. That's why I didn't mention it until now... But in the main time, you will have to move in with me."
Ariana raised her tear filled eyes to him in shock. "With you?" She squeaked.
Calhoun shrugged like it was the obviously thing to do. "Of course, where else will you be?"
"But if Ethan finds out that I am staying with you, he will commit suicide Calhoun!" She cried out.
Calhoun held her hands firmly in his. "Ariana, Ethan isn't going to kill himself and if he does do it, it won't be on you! You are mine and not his!" Calhoun growled.
"But I—" Ariana started to say but Calhoun cut her off.
"Ariana don't you want me too? Are you still in love with that man?" Calhoun snapped. He hated raising his voice at her but he had to make her understand that Ethan was just using her.
"Calhoun, it isn't that..." She trailed off dropping her eyes to her lap. She was now in a dilemma. She loved Calhoun, she was certain of that. But she also didn't want Ethan's blood to be on her hands.
Calhoun saw the indecisiveness in her eyes and he got up from the sofa. He moved to the door, "I'll be in the car waiting for you to make a decision. It's either me or Ethan. The decision is yours."
