Chapter 169
"Think about it, babe. I know Ethan is crazy and I was the one telling you to call it off with him but I am still the one begging you to take him back because I have looked at the two of them and I find that you are better off with Ethan than Calhoun," Lisa went on.
Ariana was now in deep thoughts as she looked down at her fingers. Her ears were listening to Lisa but her heart wasn't. She couldn't do what Lisa was suggesting. Even if the world was falling apart, she would still stick with Calhoun. She loved him too much already.
"Even as you are staying here, I am scared for you Aria! What if they poison you?" Lisa added.
Ariana batted her eyes and swallowed her fears. "The heart wany what it wants Lisa. I can't decide about it... I already love Calhoun and I can't live without him. How do you even expect me to cope without him?"
"But look at—" Lisa wanted to say more but She got interrupted.
"That's enough Lisa, let's talk about something else. I was the one who gave you those stories. It is my life now and I am not running away from it."
Lisa saw that Aria had grown really tense up, so she let the matter be.
"Tell me about something else then," Lisa said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"I don't have anything to say..." Ariana mumbled.
Lisa understood that she was already pissed off. So after a while, she decided to leave. She had dropped her message, she could only hope that Aria would do something about it.
"I should leave. I have something to catch up with," Lisa said getting to her feet.
"Sure, let me walk you to the gate," Ariana said. One of the traits Ariana loved in Lisa, was the way she interpreted body language.
They started walking to the exit, the tension was hard between them. Lisa had more to say but Aria didn't want to listen anymore. They got to the corridor that linked to the exit when they saw Matt coming toward them.
"Isn't that his cousin Matt?" Lisa asked.
"Yes," Ariana simply said. She and Matt barely spoke to each other even before the theft incident.
They got really close and Matt stopped right in front of them. "Yay! The street girl brought another friend!" He mocked.
Lisa frowned and glared at him. "What do you want?"
"Oh, I want money. Money your friend is trying to steal from me and my brother!" He said with a bright smile."
Lisa looked like she was ready for a showdown but Ariana stopped her. "Lisa please let him be," Ariana whispered.
Lisa hissed in annoyance. "What do you mean? So this is how you let them talk to you?"
"Lisa, let's go. I will handle it!" Ariana told her firmly.
Lisa shook her head and grabbed her bag tight. Ariana had always been a very gentle girl but she never thought it would be to the point where she would be insulted and she wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
They got to the gates and Lisa gave Aria a tight embrace and left thousands of words. Lisa took a taxi to her place and Ariana remained at the Lawson residence. She knew that Lisa was disappointed with her. But she couldn't be who she wasn't. She had promised Calhoun she was going to make things better, not run off to the ex.
"Did she come and join forces with you?"
Ariana turned around to see who it was, she wasn't even surprised to see Matt. He looked like he didn't move from where he stood at all. He was waiting to taunt her even more.
Ariana tucked a strand of her hair away from her face and walked past him. She wasn't going to stand there and share words with him. It was not important.
"Soon, you will need my help for something and I will be here..." he sang as she walked away from him.
Ariana felt a heavy burden on her chest. This was going to be harder than she thought. Especially since she was doing it on her own. She got out her phone and decided to dial Calhoun.
"Hey baby girl, I was just about to call you!" He said on the phone.
"Oh, you were?" Ariana said as she walked to her room.
"Yes, I will be coming by the end of the week and I am going to be on two weeks' leave. No more messages for grandpa. Just you and I against the world!" He said with excitement.
Ariana was already smiling just by listening to his voice. The fact that he was coming was another great news.
Unknown to her Matt had been following her and he heard the conversation she was having on the phone with Calhoun before she walked into the safety of her room. He noted all the key things and ran to his mother's wing. They could do something really good between them that would separate the two love birds.
"Mother!" He said the moment he pulled the door open but he was stopped by the sight in front of him. What he was planning to discuss was long gone out of his head.
There was a man on his mother's bed and he wasn't alone.
"What's going on here?" He cringed as anger rose from within him.
The two men on the bed stopped their lovemaking and turned to who was at the door. As Benson's eyes landed on his son, he froze. His friend quickly got out of the bed and slipped on his clothes before running past Matt.
"Matt, let's talk about this..." Benson started but Matt raised his hands in anger to stop him.
"Please stop father... God! I feel ashamed to even call you that! Wait are you even my father?" Matt cried out. "Does mother know about this?"
