Chapter 182
"Calhoun who is Nikita?" Ariana asked as soon as they had gotten to the comfort of their bedroom. She wasn't harsh. She was soft and gentle. She knew Nikita was only trying to take advantage of the situation and she could never actually be angry with Calhoun even if she tried.
He looked so shocked, it was painful to watch. Without him replying, she was certain their story didn't end well at all. But she needed to know how far they had gone. It was obvious they had something going on. No one would call him by a pet name and get away with it so easily. The once strong president was suddenly reduced into a broken man just by the presence of this Nikita woman.
Ariana noticed that Calhoun was still lost in thoughts and he hadn't replied to her. She moved to sit on the bed by his side and she gently placed her hand on his thigh.
"Baby, if you don't want to talk about it, yet," she started emphasizing the last word. "I will wait but you need to come out of the shock."
Her voice was like a hero that rescued him from his own prison. Calhoun passed a hand through his hair as he tried to get his thoughts straight. He hadn't seen Nikita in years. His heart had felt the pains she had left him with the moment she stepped in and he hadn't been able to think straight since. But he couldn't compromise his love life now because of a torn in his past.
He turned his distant eyes to her and blinked softly. "Nikita is my past..."
Ariana knew this already but she still felt a small pang of jealousy in her heart. She quickly covered it up with a small smile. "I think that was quite obvious. Tell me something more," She said. She was smiling even though her heart was racing as questions swam around her head.
Calhoun removed his hands from his head and he held her hand. This was difficult for him to do for he had been unable to share the bitter story with anyone ever since it happened. His aunties had seen the whole thing bloom and come to destruction. They could only imagine his pain but none knew in detail how exactly he felt.
"Nikita was the first girl, I have ever loved..." he started and Ariana held her breath. "Her father was a friend of my parents. Her father and mine were best of friends. When I found out my parents were dead, Nikita's parents became my parents too. They had always been there but when I knew their relationship with my late parents, we became closer." His hurt could be felt in his voice and Ariana felt sorry for him even though sometimes she wished her parents had died as well for she thought it was better to have dead parents with a good reputation than having parents that were alive but with a horrible reputation.
"Nikita and I became really close friends..." he paused as if remembering the good old days of their early friendship. Ariana saw this as an opportunity to ask the question she had wanted to ask ever since she heard it.
"I guess that's why she got the name Cally from?" She asked trying hard not to sound too bitchy.
Calhoun's smile brightened. "The first time her father brought her home, she thought I was a girl so she had decided Calhoun didn't suit me but Cally did. And back then I found it cute, so I changed my name in all my notebooks to Cally."
The story was legit cute but Ariana didn't even smile. She was jealous. She loved Calhoun so much, that the idea of having someone else fight for him with her scared the living daylight out of her.
Calhoun was her sunlight. Her backbone in the world. He was her reason for continuing and the man behind her smile. She refused to share him at all. That was why she needed to ask as many questions as she could so she would be able to get information about her enemy. Nikita was obviously here for something and Ariana could feel it. Lily brought her to the mansion to cause havoc.
"What happened to your relationship?" Ariana asked in a small voice.
"She fell out of love with me I guess... she told me that she found someone new and she had a bright career ahead of her..." he said squeezing Ariana's hands gently.
"What career?" Ariana scoffed. It was irritating to think Nikita had left Calhoun for someone else and now she was back to lay claim on him. How shameless could she be?
"She is an actress," Calhoun said weakly. Her choice of career had been the beginning of their fallout. He was a very possessive person. He hated when a person that belonged to him got touched by other people even if it was all an act. He couldn't handle it. That was why he was completely swept off his feet when he found Ariana to be a virgin.
"I thought as much..." Ariana commented.
Calhoun smirked. The love of his life was right in front of me. He shouldn't be worrying about an old spark that had left him when he needed her the most. He moved his finger to Ariana jaw's line and pulled her so that she was staring back at him.
"You know I love you right?" He whispered.
It was so random, yet so beautiful. Ariana felt sweet bumps all over her body.
"I don't know... you tell me..." she teased him.
Calhoun felt peace and warmth envelop his heart as he stared at Ariana. She was truly his soul mate. All problems and pains vanished when he looked into her eyes.
"I love you more than words can express," he said as he started getting lost in her beautiful eyes.
Ariana's cheeks tinted to a pink hue and she looked down but Calhoun moved even closer and kissed her nose. "You are so cute when you blush my love. Where have you been all my life?"
