Chapter 24
Shit!
This couldn't be good at all, -Ethan thought.
As soon as the door to his office opened, his uncle's gruff voice reached him.
"What in the hell were you thinking, Ethan?"
Ethan gulped. He was a spoilt prince in his house but whenever his uncle shouted like this, it was never a good thing. And most of the time it was always related to them losing massive money to something that wouldn't bring profit.
He would have to think of a way to calm the hold man -or things were going to get worst fast.
"Uncle, it isn't a big deal okay." Ethan tried to calm his fuming uncle up but his efforts only made the man even angrier.
"It isn't a big deal, you say?" His eyes narrowed into smaller beads and sweat dripped from his bald head.
"The stocks have been dropping drastically ever since that damned video got uploaded! Do you want to lose everything we have worked for, for some low-class girl? And then you dare to say it isn't a big deal!" He barked and Ethan kept quiet.
Whenever his uncle got to this level it was best to just keep quiet and let him do the talking. When he was done, then one could talk. At the moment he was still fuming so he would rant a lot.
"I have called my friends in the media to take the video down but the damage has been done. I am only here to warn you, Ethan. As much as I live you, I would not hesitate to hurt you if this repeats itself."
Ethan didn't even know what the video was about. He had no idea of it. Other than it must have been aria and him. But who made the video?
"If you must marry, there are a lot of girls from good homes with a large charge stock to their games that you could marry, not this nobody!" His uncle continued. "Grow up boy! Or I will be forced to do it for you."
He snatched his phones from the table and walked out of the office.
Ethan slumped on his chair in exhaustion. What was that about? Why did problems seem to follow him around everywhere?
"Kevin," he called out to his assistant who stood by the door like a scarecrow.
"Yes, sir," Kevin replied. He didn't know the kind of mood his boss would be in, so he threaded on gently as if he was in broken glasses.
"Show me the said video," Ethan ordered.
Kevin quickly dipped his hand in his pocket and took out his phone. He browsed through it for a few minutes, searching for the video he saved in one of his numerous thumbnails. He couldn't go to the site because it had already been taken down. Kevin finally found the video and moved closer to show Ethan
Ethan took the phone from Kevin and fixed his tired eyes to the screen.
He was standing in front of Aria's house and he was begging her. She brought clothes from within the house and threw them on him. As he watched the video, he was thrown back into that moment. The moment when his Aria rejected him like a dog.
He folded his free hand into a fist and dropped Kevin's phone on the table with a thud. Kevin winced, fearing his phone had cracked.
"Why did my uncle have to make a big deal out of this? It's nothing you know. In fact, I look like the victim here!" Ethan said out loud. His heart was hurting from the rejection and he wanted to engage in whatever form of conversation he could get to distract his heart from the ache.
Kevin stayed silent with his hands folded across his chest. He saw the pain in his boss' eyes but he didn't know what to do. He had warned him on several occasions to stop carrying around so many women but he never listened to him. Now, look at what his stubbornness had done to him?
Miss Brown was such a nice woman. She was the only one capable of making him a better person. Whenever she was with him, he acted less pompous and more human. Kevin knew that Ethan was benefiting more from the relationship despite what other people may say about them because of Ethan's money but, Miss Brown was a gem. A gem is boss had, unfortunately, lost forever.
"Kevin, tell me, what is wrong with that video?" Ethan suddenly asked bringing Kevin out Of his thoughts.
"Whoever posted the video on Instagram, put a caption that tagged you as the cheating boyfriend. Another user commented that it was what rich people did to innocent young women. They cheated without a care thinking money could solve all problems. This was why your stock prizes dropped in the market," Kevin told him.
His words were like gas to a fire. It tore down the little hope Ethan was holding in to. Ethan didn't even care about the stock market like his uncle. What he cared about was what Aria thought of him.
"But I am not a cheating boyfriend! I love Aria," he whispered sadly.
Did Aria also consider him to be a cheating boyfriend?
"I have never cheated on her... I sleep with other women but she is the one I love. Those ones are always for fun and nothing more!" Ethan cried out.
Kevin stared at him with sadness. He knew his boss was delusional but he never thought it was to this extent. How could he think cheating was only when you started loving someone else? What do rich people teach their children? Their morals were completely reversed.
"Kevin, do you think she believes them?" Ethan asked.
Kevin hoped she believed because she was an amazing young woman that deserved better in life but he couldn't say this to Ethan or he would lose his job.
"I don't think Miss Brown is the kind of person that listens to the media," he responded playing it safe.
Ethan smiled at Kevin's response. This meant, Aria still cared about him. He would just have to keep begging her.
