Chapter 59
It was the start of another day for Ariana. It seemed different.
Lisa who had being staying with her since she got sacked, left for work an hour ago.
She was alone once more. It felt like something was missing. She had to do something or be somewhere.
Ariana had decided she would give her mother a visit, a surprise visit before she came back to search for a work.
She was currently in her room. She was packing up everything thing she needed for the two days stay at her parent's house.
The drive to her home town was a six hour ride. But she was planning on taking the train. Ariana took her time to close the box so she wouldn't ruin the zipper.
She had already taken care of anything that had to do with cleaning both herself and her house. She was currently dressed in a black Jean trousers along side a pink crop top. Her hair was packed up in a pony tail. She looked different from what she would look like if she was going to work. This caused a small smile to cover her face.
She placed her box on the floor, and carried a little bag. It had her cards in it with some money and her phone. She placed her leather jacket on top of her shoulders and she dragged her box out of the room to the parlour.
It had been a long time since she had seen her mother and Ariana was sure she would be pleased to her. Ariana made sure everything was switched off, she locked all the windows and inner doors and placed the keys to the interior part of the house inside the fake plant she had in the parlour.
While the key to the main door was carefully tucked in her tiny bag. She rolled her box out of the house and to the main road.
She had to wait for a taxi to take her to the station. She finally considered taking the train. Ariana felt it would be easier and faster. She waited outside for the taxi driver. She had ordered it thirty minutes earlier.
The taxi saved her a lot of time, it came just a minute after she stood outside. She hopped in and the car drove off.
Ariana watched as her house grew distant from her. She wanted to change her mind all of a sudden, but she had already made a decision.
Ariana peeled her eyes off the window. She brought out her phone from her bag. She connected it to her head sets and played some relaxing music. It was the only thing that could keep her company throughout this ride.
Ariana had already slept off and the taxi driver had to wake her when they got to the train station. The man helped her with her box. She had already made a transfer to him after she ordered the ride so she didn't have to pay him again.
She thanked him as he helped her carry her box to the train.
The train station was new and different compare to the last time she came. There was a food spot for travelers and a souvenir shop. Graffiti art decorated the entire station. Ariana felt it was nice to let the teenagers express themselves through art.
Everything in the train station mesmerised Ariana as she kept on staring. Suddenly it didn't feel like she had lost her job anymore. It felt like she was on an indefinite vacation.
The train for Regatta Spring had not yet arrived. Ariana dragged her box and entered the souvenir shop.
The man at the door requested she left her bag at the door. Ariana did not feel the need to cause any ruckus so she left the bag there.
She browsed through the shop to find anything to carry for her parents. She found a T-shirt that said 'I love Illinois'.
Ariana felt it would be the perfect outfit to get. Afterwards she got a mug for her daddy. The one that said the 'best dad in Illinois'.
She smiled at herself as she stared at what she got for her parents. It was obvious they would love the things she got them. They were fans of souvenirs.
An announcement was made through the speakers and it signaled that her train was ready.
"All passengers heading for Regatta Spring, New castle and Bloom Hills. First class at the first door, Business class at the second door and economic class at the last door," The female attendant announced.
She was heading for Regatta Springs, Aria paid for everything she bought including the side snacks for the trip. She went to the front door and grabbed her bag.
She had gotten a business class ticket online and finding it on the train was easy since the announcer had already stated where she had to go. She got to the second door and there was a huge business class plaquette on top. She went into the door and found a seat for herself. She was the only female at the business class which was strange but she paid no attention to it.
There were just four in the business class coach, including her.
The other three she spoke of were men, they were about the same age with her. One of them sat in front of her, the other one at the side seat. And one other at her back.
She hadn't realise she was in the mist of three men.
As usual she found comfort in her phone. She placed her head sets on and started to listen to music. It was only few minutes into her music before she felt a light tap on her shoulders.
Ariana looked up at the person.
"Aria, forgotten my face already?" He asked as he stared down at her confused face. Slowly her features started to soften as a smile formed on her face.
"How could I forget the unbeatable Zion?" Ariana asked with a grim smile.
"Unbeatable as always," He said before she sat beside her. Ariana hadn't realised but half of the seats were now occupied.
"How have you been?" Zion asked.
"I have been okay and you?" Ariana asked.
Zion had been her classmates from highschool. He had always been the one to top the class followed by Ariana.
After highschool they had lost their contacts.
"You've grown a moustache and a beard," Ariana said as she held the hair on his face. She felt like a teenager once again.
"You will never stop that habit of yours eh?" He asked.
She grinned at him, "so what brings you here? Going back to RS?" She asked.
"Yeah, I just wanted to finalise a contract. My boss has entrusted me to finalize the deal. The last two people he sent failed him gravelly," He said with a smirk.
"Somebody has been busy," Ariana remarked.
"Come on don't say stuffs like that, what about you?" He asked deviating from the topic.
"I just wanted to see my parents that all, it's being long since I last saw them," Ariana said before she heaved a sigh.
"Okay and how's my man, Ethan and my legendary crush Sofia Brents?" He asked with a smile never leaving his face.
Her expression darkened as she stared at him. The last thing she wanted to talk about was Ethan and Sofia.
"We broke up. Both Ethan and Sofia, they are now a thing of the past," Aria said before she looked away.
"I'm sorry!" Zion apologized feeling terrible for even starting the conversation.
"Oh, it's fine really. Don't worry yourself much!" Ariana said as she forced a smile.
Ethan and Sofia, are a thing of a past now —she reminded herself.
