Chapter 61
Her mother stared at her like she just seen a ghost. She was surprised to see her there, right in front of her.
A huge smile was plastered on Ariana's face as she stared at her mother.
"Hi mom!" Ariana said before she hugged the woman.
"Ariana! You didn't tell me you were coming," She said with a big smile.
"I wanted to surprise you, Surprise!" She yelled smiling from ear to ear.
"Oh, dear! You shouldn't have bordered yourself, you should have stayed behind," Mrs Brown said with concern.
"It's fine,Is it a crime to visit my parents?" Ariana asked as she walked inside.
"Where is dad?" She asked as she entered the house.
"Your dad is sleeping you don't have to disturb him, you would see him tomorrow morning," Mrs Brown said as she stopped her daughter.
"Argh, fine! But I am hungry, Anything to eat?" She asked as she sat on the dinning table.
"Yes I have some raw pasta and meat, you can cook them yourself," She said with a smile.
"Mom!" Ariana cried out as she sank on the chair.
"I'm just kidding, wait here I'll get you something to eat look at how skinny you look, what have you been eating in that place?" Mrs Brown asked as she entered the kitchen.
It was not up to five minutes before she brought in a covered plate.
Ariana rubbed her hands together as the food was place on top of the table.
"Gracias," she thanked her mother.
She opened the plate and her stomach rumbled.
The sweet Aroma of her mother's pasta filled her nose and she licked her lips.
"This is nice!" Ariana said after she placed the first spoonful in her mouth.
"Your mother is the best cook around don't forget that!" Mrs Brown boasted.
Ariana finished the entire plate before she let out a loud belch.
"Where are your manners," Mrs Brown asked her daughter with a frown.
"I left it in the city. Do you know how much I have longed to eat my mother's food?" Ariana asked as she took the plate to the kitchen.
"Dear, What about work?" Mrs Brown asked her daughter and she froze.
"W-work is fine," Ariana stuttered.
She knew this conversation was going to lead to something else.
"Mom can we talk tomorrow, I am so tired." She faked a yawn.
"Oh, dear that's right it must have been a long ride. Go up to your room," She dismissed.
Ariana dragged her luggage to her old room.
The room was neatly arranged and it was still the same as she left it.
She moved her bag to the side with her phone in her hands. Ariana searched for what she would sleep with in her old wardrobe. Surprisingly she found something that would fit her in her old clothes.
She collapsed on the bed and brought out her phone to chat up Lisa and any other person that was online.
"Hey Lisa." Ariana messaged first, luckily she was online.
"Hey, are you there already?" She asked with a worried emoji.
"Yeah, got here hours ago," Ariana replied.
"That's cool. I'm at a meeting I'll talk to you later!" She typed back.
Ariana rolled on her side as she scrolled through her social media. Two famous celebrities that had been married for nine years just divorced.
Crazy people —she thought.
To them marriage was just something, it had no importance to them. It was like a birthday party to them. They didn't understand that marriage was only supposed to happen once in a lifetime. The vows you share and the promises you make are supposed to last forever. But all that didn't matter to them.
Those were the things Ariana feared about marriage. No commitment.
Ariana prayed to marry the right person. She definitely knew she wasn't going to marry another rich brat like Ethan. She wanted somebody simple and caring and understanding.
She didn't want someone who would just give her money instead of attention. Ariana continued to turn around and every now and then thinking about what she was going to do with her life now.
A message popped in from an unknown number.
"Hey!" The mysterious person sent.
"Hello? And you are?" She asked not wasting any time.
"It's me Zion," He replied with a smiley face.
"Oh, Zion, how was the meeting?" Ariana asked.
"Awesome as always. I got the deal, my boss will would be so pleased." He replied.
"Awwn, congratulations. But you didn't tell me what company you work for?" Ariana asked.
"I didn't. I'll tell you if you tell me where I work. Trade by barter," He replied.
"I asked first!" She texted back quickly.
"Ladies first my dear.," He replied.
"Fine, well I used to work for Brentwood industries," Ariana typed.
"Brents? Alice?" He asked.
"Yes, Alice."
"I have heard stuffs about that company, some say she cheated to become the Best. Rumours also say she tried to sleep with my boss to get what she wanted. what do you mean by I worked?" He air quoted.
"Worked as in, I don't work there anymore, I got the brown letter," She said.
"But the company belongs to your best friend's sister?!" He asked confused.
"Dude you need to be updated, I'll cut it short,"
"Okay, no problem, go on." He texted back.
"She was just a bitch. She lied about being friends with me so she would canoodle with Ethan. She fucked my boyfriend, spoilt my relationship with some of my friends, everybody called me a bitch. She professed her undying hatred to me and then she said she wants to see me suffer and my suffering will begin soon. Long story cut short she influenced her sister to sack me and now I'm here," She sent it to him.
"Woah, I didn't expect this From Brents, so much for being a good cheerleader. Damn all of them are the same," Zion replied obviously pained.
It was obvious he liked her but after hearing this his view of her has depreciated.
"So where do you work?" Ariana asked.
"I work for the Lawson's," He replied.
