Husband Meets Ex-Fiance
I gasped while looking at them. I ran over to Philip and grabbed his arm.
“I have long felt that you have something for my girlfriend, and I’m right all along! ” he snarled.
Nicholai wiped the side of his lips. Philip's blow wounded him. He looked at Philip and grinned darkly.
"Another blow, and you will end up in the hospital, Aragon," he said threateningly.
"Let's see who among us will end in the hospital, Acosta," Philip replied angrily.
“Stop! Both of you!” I shouted at them. “Get inside the house, Nicholai. I will talk to Philip. ”
I heard Nicholai scoff. "I'll give you five minutes to talk.” Even before I could protest, he went back to his car and drove it inside our house.
I sighed and let go of Philip’s arm. “Just go, Philip. We're done."
"Is it really that easy for you to give up our relationship just for that man?!" he said with gritted teeth while pointing to where Nicholai entered. His jaw clenched in anger as he stared at me.
I tried to remain cold and emotionless and looked him in the eyes.
"Yes."
“Tell me. Don't you really love me anymore?” I could see hope in his eyes. And I knew that what I was going to say would not just hurt him, but it would also hurt and devastate me.
“Yes. I don’t love you anymore. If you love me, you should let me go, Philip. Please. Just let me go.” I saw him smile bitterly and wiped the side of his eyes. And I knew that this was really our end. We may have loved each other, but we were not really meant to be together. And that was the sad truth.
“Okay. I give up. I hope you are happy. Be happy. Goodbye, Denima Cris.” It was the last word that he said that made my heart shattered into pieces.

After 3 Months ...
“Damn it, Nicholai! If you're not going with me, just say it, so I don't look like a fool waiting inside the house!” I said, annoyed the moment he answered the call.
My stomach was already pretty big, and I had a scheduled check-up now. Nicholai insisted that he would go with me. But it was almost 9 AM, and he was still nowhere to be found. He said that he would just finish his breakfast meeting. And that meeting ended an hour ago.
[I’m sorry, Hon. There was so much traffic. I'm about to enter South Ridge. Be there in a minute,] he said softly on the other line.
I sighed and sat on the couch. After what happened to Philip and me, I was devastated. Nicholai was with me. He was so patient. So I decided to accept Nicholai’s offer. That we would try to be okay for the baby. I tried to be good with him for the sake of the baby. And so far, the outcome has been good.
Nicholai was really hands-on when it came to me. He was kind and caring. He didn’t complain even though I always scolded him. Whatever I wanted to eat, he would find and buy it even after midnight.
"Fine," I said and ended the call. I leaned my back on the couch and closed my eyes.
I am always sleepy too. Sometimes I fall asleep even while watching a show. Once, I fell asleep on the couch, and Nicholai caught up with me. He carried me to bed but scolded me the next day. I might fall on the sofa or get sick from the cold. He was over-reacting. He also stopped me from working. It might seem to be not good with the baby if I would still go to work. See? I didn’t know that he was like that.
I was startled when someone kissed my lips. I glared at Nicholai, who was smiling in front of me. “Stop smiling. I'm annoyed with you, ” I jumped to my feet and marched out first. He immediately followed me and put his arm around me.
“I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t anticipate the traffic. It will not happen next time. Because next time. I'm not really going to the office anymore.”
"You should be," I scoffed. He opened the car door for me, and I immediately entered the passenger seat. He turned around and got into the driver's seat, and drove the car.
We were just silent the whole ride. Nicholai looked at me from time to time. I was really frustrated to see the traffic.
I was startled when my phone suddenly rang. Nicholai looked up and raised an eyebrow at me.
I took my phone and saw that it was Cheni, my best friend.
[Is it true?] she said the moment I answered the call. I was confused about what she meant.
"About what, Cheni?" Confused, I asked her.
[Is it true that you and Nicholai are married? I am your best friend, but I was the last to know. I felt so betrayed.]
I closed my eyes and massaged my temple. Not all who knew Nicholai and I knew that we were together. We didn’t keep it a secret, but we also didn’t tell them. If they asked, we answered, that was it.
“I’m sorry, Cheni. It was sudden-"
[Sudden? Seriously, Dosh? You've been married for three months, but I don't know at all! Am I really your best friend?] she said with resentment.
“I’m really sorry, dosh. You are also a bit busy with your new business, and I don't want to disturb you.” I glanced at Nicholai. He was looking at the road and didn’t mind me.
[Ugh! Fine! I admit. I’ve been busy. But I am still pissed. You didn't even invite me to your wedding.]
“I’ll make it up to you. Okay?”
[You should be. Let's meet right now.] I shook my head. Same as usual. She was really very demanding.
"I can't now, dosh."
[What? Why? I'm really going to get mad at you!]
"We're on our way to the clinic. We have an appointment with Dr. Lagman.”
[Huh? Are you sick?] she asked worriedly.
“No. I am not sick. It is my prenatal check-up, dosh. I’m pregnant. It's been almost four months.”
[You’re pregnant?! Oh my god! I really hate you.]
"Sorry." I didn’t notice that we were in front of the private clinic. Nicholai maneuvered the car and parked it in the clinic’s parking lot. “I got to go, dosh. We are at the clinic. I’ll call you later, bye.” I immediately cut off the call because I knew she would bomb me with a lot of questions.
“You’re meeting Cheni after your check-up?” Nicholai suddenly asked as we got out of the car.
“Hmm. I didn't think of that. Maybe I can too. Can I meet her after?” I said as we entered the clinic. I was about to open the door when it suddenly opened. My brows furrowed to see the familiar face of the pregnant woman with the man. She smiled at me, and they walked away.
My eyes widened when I remembered who it was. It was Dr. Olive Ramirez. Was the man her husband?
It was apparent that it was her husband, Denima.
Nicholai opened the door for me and helped me enter the clinic.
“You didn’t answer me, Nic. Is it okay for us to meet?”
“Yes. We will. I will accompany you. I’m all yours today.” He smirked, which made me rolled my eyes.
