Dreame Cafe
"Can you just drop me at Dreame Café?" Nicholai’s forehead creased as he turned to me. His face showed dislike for what I had said.
"I already said that I'm coming with you," he replied.
"But I don't want you to come with me. It's a girl talk. “Dreame Café is just near South Ridge. You're overreacting," I said and shook my head.
I heard him sigh and said, "Fine. You win."
After my check-up and knowing that the baby was healthy, Nicholai dropped me at Dreame Café. He also said that he'd be the one to buy my vitamins and milk and I'd just enjoy my day with Cheni.
I immediately saw Cheni waving at me as soon as I entered the Café. There were quite a few of us and many more empty tables. I frowned as I turned my eyes to the counter. The girl looked really familiar. My eye fell on the nameplate on her chest.
Alondra
Oh! I remember! She was also the one who served me at Stary Hub. So she was also working here. She was very hardworking. She turned to my side so I gave her a sweet smile then I continued walking towards Cheni's seat.
"Dosh! I miss you!" Cheni hugged me right away when I got in front of her.
"I miss you too, dosh. I'm really sorry. Let's be good, okay?" I grinned and sat on the chair in front of her.
"Fine. I didn't order your usual drink. I know coffee is not allowed for pregnant women, right?"
"It's not really like that. It's okay, but not just do it daily or three times a day," I said laughing.
"I’m sorry, okay? I haven't tried being pregnant yet," she said, frowning. "I just ordered a milkshake and then just a slice of chocolate cake. It is also not good for a pregnant woman to always eat sweets. I don't want to get pregnant anymore. There are a lot of things that are not allowed. Especially eating sweets."
We both laughed at what she said.
"I'm really curious. All I know is that you love Philip and then I'll just know that you're married to Nicholai. Do you know my shock? It's up here to here,” she said, motioning from her head to her sole.
"Silly!" I said laughing. "Well ... It's a long story, dosh."
"Then summarize it!. Goodness!”
"Fine!" I told her everything. Where it started from and why I was here in my current situation.
"What the hell! I feel sorry for Philip. Damn! Maybe there is another way. If you told me much earlier, maybe I might be able to help."
"How can you help me then?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well ... I can try to turn Nicholai’s attention to me instead of you," she said with a laugh. Goodness! She was crazy. Does that mean she had a crush on Nicholai?
"Admit it. Do you like Nicholai?" Cheni grinned at me.
"You can't blame me. Nicholai is ruthlessly hot."
"You're really crazy," I said laughing.
"What? Is he huge?" I blushed suddenly at his question. "Bitch! He is huge, am I right? Obviously," she added with a smirk.
"I don't know about you, dosh."
"Shit! Isn't that Philip?" I immediately looked where Cheni was looking.
My eyes widened when I saw Philip in front of the counter. And because Cheni's voice was so loud, Philip turned to where we were sitting. He was also shocked when he saw me. Especially when he saw my stomach getting quite big.
"Philip!" I glared at Cheni when she suddenly called her and invited her to our table.
"What are you doing, Cheni?" I whispered to her. She just winked at me. What was she planning?
I saw in my peripheral vision that Philip was walking towards our table while holding a cup of coffee.
"Long time no see? Sit down here, Philip," Cheni said smiling.
"Yeah," Philip said once, sitting in the chair next to Cheni and me.
"Congratulations. You are pregnant," I looked at him because of what he said.
I tried to calm myself. I didn't want him to feel that I was affected by his presence.
"Thank you," I said briefly. I turned to Cheni when she suddenly stood up from her seat.
"I'm just going to the comfort room, guys." Before I could stop her, she already walked away from our table.
Damn! Cheni!
Philip was really quiet. The two of us at the table were very awkward. I couldn’t sit still in my seat. I shivered when I felt that someone was staring at me. I scanned the whole café but nothing was strange.
"How are you?" Philip broke the silence. My eyes darted towards him.
I smiled at him and said, "I'm good." I picked up my phone on the table and pretended to be reading, then I stood up. "I got to go, Phil. It was nice seeing you." I didn't wait for him to answer me. I walked fast and left the café.
I immediately took a taxi and drove to our house in South Ridge.
When I arrived, I saw Nicholai standing near the door.
"Hey—" I stopped when I saw him. His jaw was tense and he seemed to be looking at me angrily. "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing. Did you enjoy your chat with Cheni?" Why did his tone sounded different when he asked or did I just hear it wrong?
"I did." I heard him scoff at what I said and I saw him clenched his fist. My brows furrowed while looking at him.
"Is there a problem?" I was confused as to why he was acting like this.
"Is there?" he questioned back. I pursed my lips. He was acting weird.
"Nothing," I replied and just sighed.
"As you say so." I frowned at his answer. I was about to say something when he cut me off. "I'm going out. Manang Linda cooked you something for lunch. And don't forget to take your vitamins and milk," he said and then left without glancing back at me.
He was really acting weird. I just shrugged it off. Maybe it was just a problem in the office.
I walked towards the dining area and saw Manang Linda preparing the food on the table.
"Ma'am, let's eat. Where is Sir?"
"He hasn't eaten lunch yet?"
"Not yet, Ma'am. He said he'll wait for you so you can eat together," she said as she placed a jug of juice on the table.
If he was waiting for me, why did he suddenly leave when I arrived?
"He went out manang. Maybe there's an emergency in the office," I said and sat down at the table to eat.
