Chapter 34
Xander's POV.
Avery is everything to me, but as I left her study room, I was torn in pain.
I know she's passing through a lot but asking me to give her space is not right.
I'm her mate for heaven's sake, why is she being unreasonable? Does she think she's a forest of her own?
I'm her mate, and I'll always stand by her no matter what she said.
Stubborn mate!
‘calm down dude. Don't be so hard on yourself and her, she indeed going through hard times but I'm sure she'll come around. Just be patient.’ Declan explained but I'm still angry.
I just know how can a woman be so selfish in love... She knows how much I love her and yet she chooses to punish me in such a cruel way... I can bear anything but space, giving her space is like torture to my soul.
I'm restless, sad, and feeling angry.
‘She might probably have a reason why she's asking for space.’ Declan suggested, but I was beyond reason.
I don't want to hear anything that will make me calm, I just want to stay angry with her for as long as I can or I won't be able to give her the space she required.
‘Declan please, I know you'll always support her but please, not today. You're so annoying, you're supposed to take my side, not hers.’ I muttered angrily at him.
‘I'm not taking anyone's side, I'm just trying to be reasonable. I'm missing her as much as you, she's our mate for goodness sake. Just stop being a baby and try to be reasonable. Take things slowly, I'm sure she'll soon come running to you. She might act all strong, but she needs us in any way possible, especially emotionally.’
Though Declan is stating facts I just don't want to reason with him, it would only evaporate my anger, and I need that anger more than anything now.
‘Take a chill pill Declan, I've heard you. Now zip up, I wanna think straight and right.’ I said with a chuckle.
He scoffed at me and went silent.
I need to go somewhere to cool off, going home will only infuriate me the more, I need to do something with my hands, something to take my mind off Avery for a little while.
‘How about the training room? ’ Declan howled excitedly.
"I'm in no mood to fight, I just need something to cool off."
I'm not interested in any fight now, if I engage in any fight, I'll probably terribly injure someone. I'm too angry to train fight.
‘A swim then, that would chill you out huh?’
"That's exactly what I need, a good swim."
I said and headed to the public swimming area of the pack.
I earnestly pray there won't be many wolves there, I'm not in any mood for any sort of conversation now.
As I entered there, I saw Sasha. The lifeguard, she's a good old friend.
I've known her kids since I was a kid, and we went to the same college together.
The swimming area was empty, she was alone there, sipping a drink.
"Hay Sash, what's up?" I said and walked up to her.
She arched a questioning eyebrow.
"And what are you doing here? Who got you angry Mr ?" She asked, standing up and standing akimbo.
"Oh please, stop being my mom, can't I visit you?" I asked, that girl knows me too well.
"Well....you can, in my house. But a trip to my workplace is out of the question. You only come for a swim when you're dead angry, don't try to pretend in front of me, I've known you ever since you were a wee baby." She let out a chuckle and I grabbed her hair.
"Oh really? Ever since I was a baby huh? And what were you? A big momma?"
She struggles to free herself, but I held her tight.
"Fine, stop being a pain in the ass, let go of my hair. It took lots of time to make that hair. Let go or I'll call my girlfriend for you."
Immediately she mentioned her girlfriend, I let go immediately.
She's a lesbian and her girlfriend is a real pain. She's tough and very possessive.
"Is she around?" I asked, looking around.
If she sees me holding her girl that way, she'll challenge me to a fight and I'm in no mood to fight now, I might injure my opponent badly.
I'm one of the best fighters the pack has and it took a lot of pain to get to that level.
"Nahhh...she's currently not around. She went to visit her relative in the North. She won't be back for the next few weeks, I'm missing her badly." She said, with a cute face, her large eyes complementing her looks.
"Want me to take her place?" I asked jokingly.
"It will be a pleasure sweetheart, where do you want it? At your place or mine? If you're in a hurry, we might have a quickie right in the changing room." She suggested, I could tell she was trying hard not to laugh.
"Oh baby, you're such a sweetheart, how about we have it in the swimming pool? I'm too hard that I don't think I can walk that long" with that sentence, I made a painful face in pretense.
"OMG, why didn't you talk sooner, come to mummy. I'll make you feel better in no time." She said, coming closer with an open arm.
Once she reaches my side.
She gave me a hard shove and I landed in the water.
"Darn it Sash!! What if I can't swim?" I asked with a smirk on my face as I adjust to the water temperature.
She gave a loud laugh and said, "even if the moon goddess comes down and tells me that you can't swim, I'll never believe her."
"Crazy bitch! Where do I get new sets of cloth to wear now? I'm all wet, thanks to you"
"You can wear some of my girl clothes." She suggested.
I arched a questioning eyebrow.
"What!? it's manly." She said with a chuckle, heading back to her post.
"Why's the pool so empty today?" I asked.
"Well...I needed some time alone, so I told everyone that the pool is under construction." She said with a wicked grin.
"We'll see what your boss has to say about it."
"Good news, he's not in." She said and I laughed.
"That explains everything then. I'll have to get going now Sasha, I have things to catch up with."
"Sure. Just head to my locker, you'll find some clothes there."
I headed to the locker, change into something, and came out.
"Wanna head back home together?" I asked her.
"Nope, I want to spend the night here." She answered, heading in.
"I'll get your clothes for you tomorrow, alright?" She said, smiled at me, and went it.
"Weird girl," I said heading home.
Talking to her did make me forget Avery's words for a short while. She's a good friend.
My wolf scoffed at me and growled.
*****************************
I woke up with a gasp.
Avery!
I need to see Avery, she'd been trying to mind link with me but I keep blocking her. She needed space and I'm giving her just that, though I'm not sure if I can do it for much longer.
I was having a pleasurable dream about her but suddenly everything turned blurry and I could hear her cries of pain.
I opened my window, shifted, and head to her place.
I know it was just a dream but I just want to see her and make sure she's alright.
I got to her window, and thankfully, it was opened.
I crept inside her room, her sweet scent got my wolf howling in pleasure, remembering the dream I had and how I had marked her, claiming her as mine.
I shifted back to human, and I tip-toed to her bathroom door, I slide it open and saw her soaked in a bath.
I heaved a sigh of relief as I saw her through the thick bathroom glass relaxing in her bath. Strange girl, who wakes up so early in the morning to have a bath?
She must be exhausted from the meeting, she should be resting.
I heard her as she muttered something inaudible to herself, she was probably having a nice chit-chat with her wolf.
‘learn from her, she's having such a nice time with her wolf.’ Declan growled.
‘Yeah. Learn from her.’ I said and he scoffed at me.
I saw her coming out of her bathtub and quickly shifted and leap out.
I stand from afar as I watch her, she quickly followed my scent and came to the window.
She quickly create a mind link and this time, I didn't block her.
She asked if I was alright but I only whined and block the mind link immediately, leaping off the roof, I head home.
She needed space, I'll give her!
My wolf whined in agony.
