Chapter 37
Avery's POV.
"Avery! Why are you being so unreasonable huh?" Shannon asked once we were inside my room.
What a life, an unreasonable person tagging me unreasonable.
What's unreasonable in my decision?
I just got a personal maid for myself, it's not something to scream my ears off about.
"Sis, just let me do things my way, please. I want Leilani as my P.M., she's a very nice girl." I said, trying to convince her.
Even if she isn't convinced, I'm not gonna change my decision because of her, it's not happening again.
"Nice? And you concluded this with just one meeting? Grow up Avery, don't allow people to take advantage of your naivety?"
Oh God! Like....is she serious, she's the one constantly taking advantage of me.
All this is just a waste of time, I'm not changing my decision for anything at all, not this time, not ever.
"Don't forget that I'm the Luna, I can feel a lot of positive energy from her. She's a nice girl, trust me." I said, walking over to her.
I know she's furious because I'm not listening to her but I don't care what she feels. I'm playing the part of trying to convince her so she won't doubt me.
"I'm only doing my duty as your elder sister, but since you think it's what you want, I guess there's nothing I can do." She muttered.
"Thank you, sis, I love you. I'll make sure you don't have any reason to complain." I said joyfully, playing with the happy puppy.
"Whatever, I have to go now. It's almost midday. Don't you wanna go shopping? We have a party to attend, remember?" She asked, heading towards the door.
"Of course, I know we have a party to attend but I'm not in the mood for shopping. I just want to relax, I woke up earlier than normal today." I said, yawning lazily.
"Lazy bone...what will you wear for the party then?" She turned, waiting for my answer.
"Just pick anything nice for me to wear. I'm ok with your choice." I said and landed on my fluffy bed.
She shakes her head and bangs the door.
I closed my eyes ravishing the beautiful morning I have, a beautiful dream, a beautiful morning. I'm not just sure about the evening.
‘Xander might come, it would make the evening extra special. If I have my way, I'll just go meet Xander instead of that Erik.’ Kira muttered in my head.
I felt a surge of happiness through me to hear her voice in a calm tone since morning.
"Good morning Kira." I greeted but she huffed at me and I chuckled.
"Come on Kira, don't be a spoil spot."
‘You're being the spoil spot and not me. You better think of how to get back to Xander, I'm not liking this whole idea of a date with Erik. I know we have to be close to him and I have no objection to it at all, but I'll feel better and safe if we have Xander by our side.' She explained softly.
"So what are you insinuating sweet Kira," I asked playfully.
"Don't sweet Kira me, I just want you to let Xander know about our plan...."
I gave a loud gasp, forcing her to a stop.
‘Calm down and listen to me, I'm not asking you to tell him about the reborn aspect, just come up with something and tell him, you're a genius, I know you can fabricate something to tell him, it's the best thing to do now Avery. We need to start acting, we don't have much time.’
There's a sense in what she's saying, but I'll need Xander at close range to talk to him.
I told him I needed space and he seems to have complied.
I've tried to mind link with him several times but he's not budging, he blocks every attempt of mine.
What a stubborn male.
‘You need to pray to the moon goddess to give you some atoms of sense when dealing with men. You asked him to give you space, he's giving it to you and now you're blaming him for giving you the space you demanded. Seriously, Avery?’ Kira said and I let out a chuckle.
"It's not so bad, I wasn't in my right frame of mind by that time. I was under a lot of stress and I couldn't think straight." I defended myself.
"And you decided to vent your silly frustration on our mate. You're silly, I told you to trust yourself." She growled at me.
I laugh, I should have listened to her, I was just stressed out.
"Fine. I'll drop a message for her, I'm trying hard to mind linkand he's blocking me, I'm sure he won't pick up my calls." I said, reaching for the phone.
‘You deserve it, I'll have to block your number if you try that shits with me.’ She scoffed and went silent.
Well... I got a wolf who supports my mate instead of me.
Just wow.
I type a quick apology and invite him to the party.
I hope he shows up, we need to talk.
"What do you think of Leilani, Kira," I asked the silent wolf, I hope she answers me.
‘If I don't like her, I'll disapprove of her. I love her energy and she smells good, almost familiar. Don't bother asking me where, I have no idea. Now rest.’
I gave a burst of throaty laughter and closed my eyes to rest. She's right, Leilani does smell familiar but I won't bother about it now.
I don't know how long I slept, but I was awoken by a light knock on my door.
I opened my eyes, hoping the person would go away but the knock came again.
This is a rude intrusion of my sleep, I should have placed a note of ‘ Do not disturb.’ by the door of better still ask the guards not to allow anyone in my room.
"I'm coming," I muttered in a sleepy voice.
As I went closer, I perceived a familiar scent and bingo!
I knew the bearer of the faint scent on Shannon's body.
Erik.
Why am I not surprised?
I opened the door and he greeted me with his best smile, the smile that would get me swooning in my past life.
"Hello, Erik... Come in." I greeted him, inviting him in.
I left the door ajar and went to meet him.
"Please sit." I offered him a seat.
He took his seat and he smiled at me, looking at me lustfully.
My clothes didn't expose much of me, except my long legs, and flat tummy.
Talking of a flat tummy, I haven't eaten since morning. My tummy growled in realization.
I should eat soon, or I'll get weak. The clock on the wall reads past one in the afternoon.
"Thank you for accepting me as your date Avery." He said, and I nodded.
"So why have you come here? We were supposed to see it by evening right?"
"Yeah. I came to give you this." He replied, handing a little box to me.
"Oh, that's nice. Thank you."
I took the box from him and opened it.
It contains bright shiny earrings, from the rich transparent blue corundum, I guessed it's sapphire.
"Wow. This is beautiful." I said admiring it.
"I'll want you to wear it next week. We'll be going on a picnic." He said, smiling brightly.
"Ohhh...alright. If I have time, I'll go with you." I said, walking towards my jewelry collection, a imprinted my hand on it and different collections of jewelry were revealed.
I could hear a little gasp from Erik and I smiled.
I drop the sapphire there and close it.
My parents always get me different jewelry for my collection. Despite my refusal, they always bring it and with time, I began to fall in love with them.
Every piece of jewelry in my collection holds a very precious memory.
I felt a hand grab me from behind, I wanted to react immediately but I decided to act like before; a girl in love with him.
"You're very beautiful Avery." He said, turning me to face him.
"And you're handsome, my dear Erik," I said, and he smiled at me.
He holds me close, nuzzling my neck.
Such guts!
"You smell so good, so natural." He growled and I let out a nervous chuckle.
He held my chin up and was about to kiss me when we heard footsteps coming up.
He let out a frustrated groan and let me go.
Whoever is coming deserves a hug from me.
As we waited for who it could be, a face pooped in front of the opened door, and some pair of unique eyes peered at us.
She wanted to turn back immediately but I stopped her.
"Come in Leilani, Erik is just leaving," I told the retreating figure and Erik gave me a light peck, gave an angry look at Leilani, and left, banging my door shut.
Leilani seems to be making my enemies hers too.
I let out a laugh, and Leilani looked at me with pure surprise.
