Chapter 38
Avery's POV.
"Uhmmmm...I'm sorry Luna Avery, I didn't intend to badge into your room like that. I'm sorry." Leilani apologized and I couldn't help but laugh more.
I couldn't forget the look on Erik's face as he walks out, the look he gave Leilani could burn her if his look is fire.
"P..pl..please, don't be sorry. You saved me from an awkward moment." I said, still laughing.
I didn't know when last I had such a good laugh, Leilani is such a sweet one.
The confused girl just stared at me with a smiling face till I finished my laughter.
I rarely laugh but whenever I do, I laugh till tears stung my eyes.
’I still don't know what is funny’ Kira scoffed at me, she was probably annoyed with the fact that I nearly kissed Erik.
"Here..." Leilani said, handing me a handkerchief which I gladly accept and dab at my tears.
"I'm sorry, I just can't help the laughter. Sit down." I ordered her a seat.
She looked around the room with a twinkle in her eyes, "your room is pretty, it's as big as the servant's room combined."
My room is pretty big, really big with lots of tiny other rooms to keep things.
I never really cared about how big or small my room is, I just love my bed.
My bed can occupy ten people comfortably but I had it all to myself.
When it comes to my bed, I'm as selfish as anything in the world.
"Oh...thanks. Your room would be next to mine. There's an adjoining door connecting the two rooms though it's only used during an emergency." I explained to her and she opened her mouth in pure surprise.
"What happened?" I asked, looking at the surprised girl.
"Are you serious about me being your P.M.?" She asked, I could hear her heart beating faster as she awaited my response.
"Of course. I'll talk to the elders in tomorrow's meeting, there'll be a few arguments since you're not from around here but I'm sure they'll accept you, so don't worry." I assured her, her heartbeat slowed to normal but she still looks skeptical about the whole thing.
I don't blame her, I'll feel weird too if I'm in her shoes, but I'm hundred percent sure she'll do me no harm.
Even though Kira accepted her, my wolf is the very choosy type, even in my past life.
I was super happy when she did make any objection about Leilani. The girl is unique, something in me keeps drawing her closer.
"Thank you for considering me worthy despite meeting me today." She said shyly.
I smiled at her and my stomach made a growling sound.
That's it, I can't take the hunger anymore.
"Wow... An elephant is trampling in your fragile stomach. Looks like you need lunch." Leilani teased.
"Not just lunch, I need breakfast and lunch altogether."
"Let me guess, you haven't eaten all morning?" She asked, looking at me with a frown.
"Well... I fell asleep. Come... let's have lunch together." I said, dragging her out.
I saw her drop a box around where she sat.
I wanted to question what was in it but I decided to fill my tummy first. The poor thing has been craving and crying like forever.
"No. I'll go and come back once you're done. I can't eat at the Royal table." She protested and I scoffed.
"Don't worry. I'll handle whatever comes, I always do."
"I'm sorry but I can't, I'll stay here and wait for you if that will be ok by you."
Without waiting for my response, she immediately sat down, her actions telling me that she won't go anywhere with me.
"Alright. We'll eat in my room then, I have a little dining area here."
Without waiting for her response, I rang the bell, I heard a knock on my door almost immediately.
I opened my door and two servants bowed down.
They're the ones assigned to me, "I'm very hungry, please get food for two." I ordered.
"I'm sorry for not serving you breakfast today, but we didn't want to disturb you." The eldest one said.
"Oh, don't stress yourselves. I slept off. Go get the food. Remember...two plates, ok?" I asked.
"Thank you, Luna Avery, and your order is noted."
They hurried off, and when I went to my room, Leilani was looking stressed and scared.
"Don't worry Leilani, you'll be fine. I'm here with you." I assured the panicking girl.
She's scared to eat with me, how hilarious.
"So what's in the box, Leilani?" I asked, trying to bring her mind at ease.
"Oh... I brought it for you. I made it with my own hands, it's not so fashionable but I'm gifting it to you with all my heart." She said with the most sincere voice I've ever heard.
"Awwnnn...Leilani. That's so nice of you. Can I see it now?" I asked, eager to see what kind of dress it is.
"You'll see it, but only after you've eaten." She said sternly.
"Ok, momma." I joked, pouting my mouth, and she chuckled.
"Now that's like a good girl."
I smiled, and as I was about to open my mouth again, I heard a knock on the door.
"Food's ready."
I stood up and walked to the door. The two servants walked in with the food and had an expression of shock when they noticed Leilani sitting in my room.
They exchanged looks and went outside muttering.
"You're gonna be popular among the servants soon. Those two are gossip." I said and Leilani gave a nervous chuckle.
We took the food and headed to the small dining room.
She immediately serves me. She remained standing till I asked her to sit.
I hurried my food, eager to see what was in the box.
She eats decently, too decent for a servant.
That's odd... Well... It's probably due to the life she'd lived before. I don't want to think too much.
I let out a little bleach of satisfaction.
"I feel human again," I said and she chuckled.
"You were feeling wolfish before?" She asked with a sly smile.
"Kira wasn't complaining of hunger," I said and huffed in my head.
"Nice name. Mine name is Mila." She said and I smiled.
I started feeling tired again, it was still early. I'll rest once Leilani is gone.
food is supposed to give energy, but I sleep off immediately after a heavy meal. Ironic.
We finished everything, and clearing up was done by Leilani.
I felt pregnant after the meal.
"Here...open it." She said, handing over the box to me a few minutes after lunch.
I was eager to see the kind of dress that was inside, I don't even know why I am excited about the whole thing.
I placed the box carefully on the table and opened it.
The dress was like none I'd ever seen, the fragrance that met my nostril was so good that I wanted to get lost in the smell.
It's the most beautiful dress I've ever seen, I brought it out and let out a wild gasp.
"Leilani! How did you make this in such a short time?" I asked, truly mesmerized by the gown.
I couldn't have asked for something better, it's like a fairy tale dress. It's still a wonder how she was able to come up with such an amazing dress so fast.
"Magic dearest Luna. Magic....." She said and laughed.
I looked at her with a puzzled look and she gave me that breathtaking smile.
"What? My hands, thread, needle, and everything I used is indeed magical..."
"You're such a wonder, Leilani." I commended and she blushed.
I just can't wait to try the black gown on.
The gown is designed in such a way that anyone that sees it would never believe it is handmade.
It has these tiny sparkling stones in it, then the most amazing part is the flowers that encircled the waistline and the hem, it looks so alive yet they are not.
She used white strips to do the edges and they match the flowers.
This is definitely beyond beautiful.
"Where did you get such beautiful stones from? It's lovely." I asked her and she smiled impishly.
"When I ran away from my workplace, I came across a large stream, it had such sparkling stones."
"Wow, they're beautiful. It can be used for different designs."
I mentioned, admiring the stones.
"The stream is in your pack. It's just concealed by some plants.
One wouldn't know such a thing existed unless the trees are cleared.
Interesting. But I don't want to go there right now.
The door burst open and Shannon came in, as usual. Angry.
Now what?
"What are you doing here?" She asked Leilani who was shaken by the question.
Looks like Erik told her something.
"Welcome, love."
"I asked her to come." I defended and looking at the dress in my hand, she arched a questioning eyebrow.
"I don't care who brought that dress, but you're gonna wear what I bought for you." She said in a firm voice.
Now that's a problem, cause I'm gonna wear the dress Leilani gifted me.
