Chapter 46

Avery's POV.

"We've decided to give you time to get to know your mate." My Beta said the next evening.

I could hear Shannon gasp a little gasp, and the frown on Erik's face.

Well... Finally, something is going my way.

"Giving in to your decision doesn't mean we don't need an Alpha in this pack, we are giving you till the next full moon to provide your Alpha or we'll choose one for you." The Beta added and took his seat.

"We'll be delighted if you get a mate before then. The future of this pack is in your hands Luna Avery." An elderly stood up and stated,

I could remember him, he's Xander's uncle.

I wonder how he'll feel if he finds out that his nephew is my mate.

Just imagining the shock look on his face is making my inside giggle.

"I appreciate your concern for this pack and I'll not let your efforts go to waste." I said to the pack elders who nodded in affirmation.

"Before the meeting is dismissed, I'll like to seek your approval on two issues."

I looked at them and since no one talked, I began.

"The Luna of a pack can have a personal help or maid as you may all know it. I was told to get one before I even became Luna but I didn't find anyone that I like but now I have."

"That's a very good thing, you don't need our approval for such things." An elder said.

I smiled and continued, "I know it's my personal matter, but I need your approval because she's not a member of this pack, plus she's a servant." I dropped the first bomb of the evening.

Everyone stared at me in pure surprise and I could hear Shannon little hiss.

"We have no problem if you want a personal maid or even if she's a servant, the only problem now is the fact that she's not from this pack. How could you think of such a thing?" The Beta was clearly trying hard to control his anger.

It's evident that he's angry but he's trying to keep everything in check.

Besides, he's in front of his Luna.

"That's not possible." An elderly voice out.

"And why is it not possible?" I asked and they stared at me.

"I do not wish to go against your sense of judgment, so please I'd like to know why it is not possible. She's a werewolf..the only difference is that she's not from this pack. She hasn't committed any treason or been found guilty of any crime. Why then can I not make her my maid?"

I know having their approval on such an issue is gonna be hard,but I seriously hope they accept it, I just want Leilani close to me.

I don't know why but I've grown fond of her.

"I have nothing more to say Luna, if you think she's right for you then you can go ahead but if we find her wanting, we'll get her killed without any trial." The Beta said when no elder speaks about the issue.

"I sincerely thank you all for your understanding, but I can swear on myself that I feel no source of threat from her." I assured them and they nodded.

"The last issue for the evening is about my fighting skills. I wish to train more and get more knowledge about martial arts."

Boom. Second and last bomb for the evening.

The Hall was silent but I could see surprise mixed with admiration on the faces of most of the elders.

While some just had blank expressions. Erik's face belong to this class.

"It's a good thing. Every pack wishes to have a strong Luna and Alpha." The Beta said and most elders nodded in favor of his statement.

"Please if my decisions are of any inconvenience to any of you...correct me please, I might be the Luna but I can only rule this great pack with your knowledge and guidance."

The Beta seems reserved to talk, I wonder what is wrong but whatever it is,I will not change my decision for anything.

I vowed silently inside.

"We have no problem with your decision, but as I've told you earlier,we'd be very much delighted if you could please get an alpha before the expiration of the time given to you. Our pack is one of the strongest packs,and I don't want enemies to take advantage of the fact that we lack an alpha and attack us. You need a strong male by your side Luna Avery." The beta explained and I nodded.

With a few more discussions,the meeting came to an end.

Thanks to the goddess that I have my wish.

"Are you out of your senses for real?" Shannon asked when the Hall was empty.

"Don't shout at me sis, I didn't do anything that lacks sense here. I'm just trying to be a good Luna for my pack." I replied gently, taking my seat and relaxing with close eyes.

"Be on notice when I'm talking to you Avery. Your behavior is out of order, what has gotten over you? Why can't you just behave?" She roared at me.

"I still don't know why you're angry sis, I've told you... I'm doing everything for the betterment of this pack. How's that senseless?"

I don't have time for her tantrums right now.

I need to rest, my training starts by tomorrow.

Xander had come to me earlier today and I'd told him all my plans.

I need to start training and improve my fighting skills. I know the elders won't object more to this because a strong Luna and Alpha is the dream of every pack.

I also told him I need to get closer to Erik, he fretted a lot and he expressed his fear about Erik's mother.

I'm a bit scared of the whole thing myself but I had to remain strong because if I show a little sign of weakness about anything, Xander might not support me.

Scarlet witches are strong witches, most of them have done more harm than good to the pack when they were here.

They have these scary dark magical powers that get into their head if they don't learn how to control it. That sort of black magic makes them hungry for more and more power.

I've read about them in historical books, and I'm sure Erik's has too, hence his fear.

"I'm scared Avery. I don't want to lose you." He said earlier in the morning.

I still felt a pang of guilt for not telling him the entire truth, but it's for the best.

He might not be able to handle everything.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you Avery and stop getting lost in your own sick World." I heard Shannon shout into my ear.

"Sis. I don't get it. Why are you angry with me? K didn't do anything wrong." I stood up and faced her.

"Oh really? You didn't do anything wrong huh? What's up with the rubbish that you were vomiting from your mouth a few minutes ago. I can't believe the pack elders let you have your way." She said and gave a long hiss.

I stared at her with a feigned innocent face.

"Please Avery, don't give me that innocent look. My main problem with you is why you don't need an alpha."

"It's nothing of such sis, I do need an alpha...it's every wolf's dream to get a mate once they are matured." I defended my actions.

"Stop giving me that trashy excuse, ok, just tell the truth to the elders that you want to rule this pack alone. You're just greedy for power." She scoffed at me and I looked at her for a slight second with pure disgust.

I immediately concealed it, it's so funny... The person greedy for everything is calling me greedy.

How wonderful.

"I still don't understand what you're insinuating sis. I'll get an alpha once I'm sure he's the one. Why are you hurting me, the moon goddess hasn't given me my destined mate and the one wolf I like is there....but I want to be sure it's him." I explained in the most pitiful voice I could muster.

"I'm sorry if I said a lot in anger, but I don't want you to put yourself and the pack in danger, you need to be sure of yourself before things get out of hand. If there's anything disturbing you, let me know and we'll look into it and find a solution." Her voice is a bit calm now, but I can see that she's trying hard to conceal her anger from me.

"I know sis. You know I love you, I'll always let you know if there's anything that's disturbing me."

"I'm always here for you Avery. I'm all you have and you're all I have. We need to look after one another."

She gave me a peck on the forehead and left.

I watch her go and I chuckle, there's more surprise coming Shannon.

‘Plan activated.’ Kira growled and I smiled.
