Chapter 53

I couldn't take it, how can Erik hurt my mate?

I speed on all four and grab his neck by teeth and fling him to the other side of the training ground.

He rose from the fall and was advancing towards me when I let out a loud roar that got him to a halt immediately.

"Erik, enough!!!" The general ordered.

I growled at him and rushed to Xander, his wound was deep.

"You shouldn't have." He said in almost a whisper.

Stubborn mate, how can I withstand that murderer hurting you?

I just couldn't.

I whined when I saw the deep wound on his back.

I won't spare that murderer, I won't.

The healer immediately heed towards us to tend to Xander's wound.

They were awed by my wolf. I make way for them to tend to the wounded Xander.

"The wind is too deep and the healing process is going to be very slow, we'll have to stitch it up to prevent any disease from spreading." One of the healers said.

The general headed towards Xander and looked at the wound, anger took over his expression.

"I'm so sorry Xander." He apologized.

"I'm fine, I'll probably be in bed for a few days." He replied with a weak painful smile.

I walked towards Xander, the general made way for me and wowed at my wolf.

I don't really care about what everyone says about my form for now.

Xander's health first, the questions can come later.

I went closer to him and instinctively licked the wound in his arm that was healing already.

It immediately healed.

It looks like my saliva makes the healing process faster.

The healers and the general gasped at what just happened.

I was surprised, but an idea popped into my head.

I looked Xander in the face and I could see his eyes telling me no but it was too late, I turned him around and began to lick his wound and as expected the wound began to heal almost immediately.

The big deep slash that was supposed to take days to heal got healed within two minutes.

"Impressive!" I heard the general say it out loud.

I was surprised too but I'm happy Xander is fully healed.

He stood up and thanked me with his head bowed.

"Thank you Luna Avery."

I wanted to shift and hugged him but that would come later, for now I have someone to deal with.

I gave a little growl and began to advance towards Erik who had shifted back to human and provided with a simple garment.

I advanced at him and I could see shock and fear in his eyes.

I gave a loud growl, he moved back and bowed his head.

Silly ass hole.

If I have my way, I'll dig my canines in his neck right now.

How could he be so callous?

"Luna Avery, let's go in." Leilani said and I followed her.

I look back and the audience were in shock, I could hear their heart beats and see their questioning faces.

Well... That was unexpected.

I didn't intend to show them my new wolf form in such a manner, but what can I do?

That bloody rascal provoked me.

We headed to the changing room and I shifted.

Leilani provided me with new clothes.

As I stepped out, she had a smile on her face.

"Your wolf was magnificent Luna Avery. The biggest I've seen in my entire life." She said and I gave a wry smile.

"You did great, you showed that no wolf should harm another. That Beta of yours went too far, he clearly disobeyed the rules. I'm glad you stood up to him. Sorry to say this but he's such a jerk!"

I chuckled and looked at her.

"So there's nothing wrong in what I did right?" I asked.

I hope the pack members won't find it out of character that I defended Xander in my wolf form.

I was angry and if I was given a chance... I'll have given Erik some few injuries but I couldn't, I'll rouse suspicion.

That is.. If I had not already.

"You did the right thing, Erik was going against the rules and he was at the verge of killing that young warrior had you not intervened. He wasn't allowing him to shift and that's not a fair fight. You and I know that a werewolf is strongest in his wolf form. Don't feel too bad, he deserves it and you did the right thing."

Her words are true and I feel blessed to have met her.

"Thank you so much Leilani. Your words always do wonders for me."

"I know right, I'm just too good." She said and laughed.

"You're really good and thank you for coming into my life."

"Thanks for making me part of it. Now enough of this emotional talk, go and give those werewolves a piece of your mind." She said and a smile appeared on my face.

She's truly a wonder.

I entered the open Arena and the mummering died down immediately.

Everyone was seated and I could bet that all eyes were on me.

I sat on my seat and the general looked at me with a smile.

"Would you like to talk about the issue that took place my Luna." He asked softly.

I nodded an affirmative and I could see that my answer gladenhis heart.

The audience would love to hear me speak and it would be a disappointment if I didn't address the issue that happened a few minutes ago.

Erik was still staring at me, when I looked towards his direction, he immediately looked away.

He better should.

I feel like tearing him apart though Kira has a more painful death in her head for him.

Poor Erik. Kira hates him more than anything in the world.

I looked to my left and saw Xander with the other warriors, I smiled at him but his face was still blank.

I wonder what's going on in his mind, I should leave that for later.

I know he'll come to me tonight.

"The Luna would love to address us." The general announced and gave me the microphone.

"Good afternoon everyone, I'll not take much of your time. Whatever happened in the hand combat between my beta and the warrior of our beloved pack shouldn't have happened. The general here clearly states the rule before the fight began and my beta had disobeyed the rule...he had shifted in anger and attacked Xander which was inappropriate. I was forced to defend the warrior because my beta wasn't giving him the chance to shift."

I paused and looked at the faces of the pack elders who began to nod in approval.

This would be easy.

"I couldn't stand such injustice and allow my beta to commit a costly mistake that would cost this pack a lot. I'm not sorry for my actions because I did what I thought was best for everyone. I saved my beta from committing a murder due to his anger and I saved the life of one of the best warriors in this pack. If the elders of this pack have any problem... They should let me know please."

I took a slight bow and left the stage with applause from the audience.

"You did great Luna." Leilani said, winking at me.

I looked at the warrior section but Xander wasn't looking in my direction.

I sighed and calmed myself down.

The elders called the general and whispered some few things to him.

I would have been able to hear them had I paid rapt attention but I'm not interested in whatever they are saying.

The general walked to the stage and cleared his throat.

"The pack elders are grateful to the Luna for handling such a huge issue maturely. They also want the Beta to apologize to Xander publicly." He ended and stared at Erik.

Erik seems surprised by what the elders wanted him to do.

I know he'll do it, he doesn't have much choice.

If he didn't do as he was told, he'll lose respect in front of the elders and he would cease to be their favorite candidate when it comes to me choosing a mate.

He looked towards the elders and gave a forced smile.

In a normal situation, I know Erik would never apologize for his uncouth behavior but right now.. In the presence of almost all the pack elders and the pack members, he can't refuse.

‘The ass hole is stuck, he should better apologize or I'll make him.’ Kira growls and a chuckle escapes my mouth in the form of air.

He stood up and walked towards the stage, he muttered a quick apology to Xander and apologized for his behavior, promising not to repeat such things again.

The general took the stage again and announced Xander as my training partner and the winner of the hand combat.

Kira growled in excitement and I was pretty excited too, knowing I'll be with Xander now.

I can't wait to start training with him.
