Chapter 54
Avery's POV.
Clink! Clinck!! Clink!!!
The sound of mine and Xander's swords clashing against each other was an entertainment to those watching us train.
It's almost been three weeks since I started training and in all those weeks, Xander had been avoiding me like a plague.
I tried to corner him on several occasions but he always took the excuse and rushed off quickly.
He blocked me from mind linking him, he doesn't reply to my messages or calls... In short, he cut every form of communication with me.
I tried to find out what happened but he became very formal with me.
After the incident between him and Erik, he avoided me at all cost.
I don't really know why, I don't even know what to think because he's not giving us a chance to talk.
Leilani had tried her best to cheer me up but I missed him... Kira was of great help too... Though I know she misses him too but she kept asking me to focus and I'm trying to.
"Show him how it's done Luna!" One of the warriors watching our training shouted from afar.
But as usual, Xander ended up collecting my swords but not without hard efforts.
"That's nice Xander, mind teaching me that trick?" I asked, hoping to get a good conversation started.
"Of course Luna Avery, I'll teach you tomorrow." He answered, gave me a slight bow and excused himself.
Hmmmmm.
As usual, he'd left.
What's wrong with him?
Leilani hurried to where I was standing, "you're getting better by the day, you gave that cute dude a tough time today." She said and laughed.
"He's good, I'm glad I chose him." I answered with a fake smile.
"I know you're not alright my Luna, but I won't force you to talk with me...just know that whenever you're ready to talk, I'm here for you always." She said and gave me a water bottle.
"Thanks Leilani, how's your training going too?" I asked her and she gave a light chuckle.
She's been training too, though not too frequently like me but she's good with swords.
"Oh..that? My training partner gave me a hard punch on the stomach today." She said and feigned a painful expression.
"Oh really? Why am I doubting this?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
She has changed her training partner three times ever since she started training, the men complained of her distracting eyes.
They told the general there's a thing about her eyes that got them distracted and that always gives her an advantage over them.
The general had ignored the complaint and changed training partner for Leilani every time she defeated the one she had.
Leilani is just unique and funny.
"Fine...I mistakenly kicked him on his balls. Don't blame me, it was just an instinct...pure instincts." She defended her actions.
"Unbelievable!!" I shouted, faking surprise.
"You did what??" I asked.
"C'mmon, it wasn't that bad. I apologized to him plus I even promised him one of my favorite delicacies."
"Hehehe, you love winning everyone's heart with your food and herbs huh?"
"I can't help it, they love it and it's my thing."
"Come, let's go into the changing room. It's dinner time." She said and dragged me away.
I walked sluggishly.
"Hi baby." I heard a female voice said and I turned around to see who it was.
The voice sounds familiar.
"Hi Olivia." I heard Xander reply and I began to boil.
"Are you free tonight? Was hoping you would like to go see a movie." Olivia asked and my head began to boil.
This is pure jealousy and I don't wish to display it here.
I couldn't help it as I halted and stared at the two, waiting for Xander's response to the girl.
I remember Olivia from my past life, she's the girl who's head over heels over Xander back in school and she was willing to do anything to attain him.
But Xander didn't give her the chance, he'd always reject all her advances.
"Mmm" Xander muttered.
"What did you say?" She asked him.
"Why should I go on a movie night with you Olivia?" He asked, his attention still focused on the sword he was sharpening.
Leilani noticed me standing and came to my side.
She didn't ask any questions and I'm glad she didn't.
"I keep telling you Xander, I love you, I've been singing those three words for over two years now but you aren't giving me any positive sign." She confessed and I heard Leilani gasp a little.
"Olivia, you're a beautiful woman and I'm sure you know that and you have been told by numerous men......." He started.
Calling another woman beautiful and commending her is really getting me vexed.
That was the same girl that was making dirty naughty remarks about him a few weeks ago.
How am I to take this?
Movie night my foot!
I could claw her to death right now.
"But I can't date you and I don't love you, I see no reason for you to keep chasing me despite telling you this severally. You and I can not be Olivia." He ended, looking at the girl for the first time ever since they started talking.
Olivia peered at him and squatted beside him, "you can't love me in a day, love starts from somewhere and I'm sure if you give me a chance, you'll learn to love me just the way I do Xander. You have no idea how much I want to be with you. I've been into you the very first time we made out in a truth or dare game back in school. Isn't that enough to show you that I want you and I want to remain yours forever."
Make out!!!!???
They make out!?
I clenched my hands and as a process squeezed Leilani's hand that I didn't notice was in mine.
Leilani was surprised by the actions and looked at me suspiciously.
I muttered a quick apology and gave her one of my fake smiles.
"Cut the crab Olivia, it was just a game and it was just a mere kiss. Not any form of attachment." He almost shouted at her.
I heaved a relief breath and I thought I heard Leilani chuckle but I began to doubt it when I looked at her and found her pressing her phone.
She's probably not listening. That's best.
"I love you Xander, please give me a chance, please." She begged.
Essshhhh... Doesn't she have any shame?
I'm not against the fact that she's professing her love to him, I'm not against any girl professing her love for a guy but darn it! There's limit to every fucking thing.
"Please Olivia, stop embarrassing yourself please. Just go home and stop all these." He said and stood up.
"Why can't you just accept me? Do you have any girlfriend? I don't understand why you're playing so hard to get, you don't have a girlfriend...or are you impotent?" She almost shouted but I'm sure some wolves heard her.
That good for nothing bitch is embarrassing my mate.... What guts! Who the fuck gave her such guts!?
Instinctively, I began to walk towards them but Leilani held me back.
I was surprised, I didn't even know I was walking towards them.
Oh God!
What's wrong with me?
I looked towards her direction and she shook her head negatively.
I immediately withdrew back, thanking the goddess that Leilani was here with me.
Had Leilani not been here, what would I have done to myself?
"Olivia!" I heard someone calling.
It was the general and I was so glad that he's coming.
"Yes, general." Olivia answered and looked towards the direction of the voice.
"What's wrong? Why are you disturbing my warrior?" He asked in a stern voice and Olivia flinched.
"I'm sorry uncle, I just came to say hi." She muttered and I chuckled.
Ohhh...so the general is related to her.
Interesting.
"Stop disturbing him, go and get yourself busy and let this be the last time you'll vomit such rubbish from your mouth. Get out!" He boomed and Olivia rushed out of the men's mist.
"I'm sorry for her misbehavior." He apologized to Xander.
"It's nothing general, I'm used to her harsh words." Xander replied coolly and I smiled.
The general nodded and was about to leave when he noticed me.
"Luna Avery?" He called.
Oh gosh!
Busted!
This is when I dearly wish for the ground to consume me.
Xander's face turned towards me and I gave a forceful smile to the general.
"Ahhhmmm...hi.. I..I was..." I began to stuttered.
"My Luna came back to ask if she can take the day off tomorrow." Leilani came to my rescue.
"Ohhh...of course. Of course you can. You've been training hard. You need to rest." The general said and excused himself.
Xander followed him and Leilani dragged me from the scene.
"Luna Avery?"
Leilani called a few minutes later while we were playing chess in my room.
"Yes?" I answered, focusing hard on the game.
"Do you like your training partner?" She asked and I immediately looked up.
Was my jealousy that obvious?
