Chapter 67

Avery's POV.

I woke up early the next morning feeling pissed, I had chewed the leaf and used it to kiss Erik deeply and he fell asleep almost immediately.

I got him naked, opened some condoms and lay down to rest.

I was extremely angry that I couldn't get the whole truth from him.... I could say that I got nothing much out of him because the medicine wore off.

With all the night thinking and brainstorming, I came to the conclusion that he's talking about my mother.

It has to be my mother... I knew my mom's death wasn't natural and everything happened so suddenly that I couldn't think straight at that particular time.

My mother knew about Shannon and Erik's mating bound which was the reason they got her killed.

But also, my mother is not an ordinary wolf to be killed like that. She's the Luna, the strongest among the female wolves in our pack.

How did they kill her so easily?

How was it even possible?

If mom knew about the whole mating bound shits, why didn't she bring it to the notice of the pack or my father?

Questions kept running in my mind till I felt a stinging headache due to critical thinking.

Dammit!

What's all this confusion?

I took my bath and watched Erik who's sleeping peacefully and had the urge to choke him but that wasn't possible yet.

I gave a low grunt, hissed and stepped out of the room, letting him sleep his stinking dark soul away.... It wouldn't matter anyway.

He's irrelevant to my pack, if he dies.....my problem would be reduced.

"Good morning Luna Avery." Leilani greeted me with a bow as I stepped into the large sitting room.

I've always stopped her from bowing but she's relentless so I just give up the idea of telling her not to, she's not gonna listen to me anyway.

"Morning Leilani, hope you slept well?" I asked, giving her a short smile.

The sitting room was empty and I began to wonder where Shannon or Xander was.

"You shouldn't have bothered dusting everywhere, we'll be leaving tomorrow." I announced and her eyes glowed with excitement.

"Yesss! I was about to ask you when we're gonna leave. I miss my gardens there and I'm sure no one would take care of them the way I do." She chirped in an excited voice and I couldn't help but smile at the happy soul.

How's she so happy despite everything she'd gone through?

Life has shown her the dark cruel side and yet she emerged from it untainted.

"Are you alright, Luna Avery?" She asked in a concerned voice coming closer to me.

My facial expression might have changed due to the thoughts roaming in my mind.

"I'm not fine Leilani..."

"What happened?" She asked, interrupting me and looking suddenly alarmed.

I gave a low chuckle, "I'm starving Leilani and hearing the smell of whatever you're cooking is making my stomach make some embarrassing noise." I said and she smiled.

As if on my cue...my stomach makes a grrrr sound and Leilani laughed.

"Calm down, Xander would serve you the most tasty meal in a few minutes." She said and patted my growling belly.

Silly girl.

Wait what?

Did I just hear Xander?

"Leilani, did I just hear you called Xander?" I asked unsure about what I heard.

"You heard it right queen, Xander is making breakfast and believe me...he's the best cook ever but not better than me though." She said proudly.

"And what makes you think so, Leilani?" I heard his voice asked and an unexpected joy welled up in my heart.

"Get morning, Luna." He greeted me with a bow.

God!

Leilani and Erik are a lost cause. I kept telling them to stop with the formality but those two never listened.

"Good morning Xander." I replied to his greetings and looked at him.

Fuck!

His body was a work of perfection, more like a demigod, how can a man be so hot, intimidating and breathtaking.

Xander is beyond temptation.

"Stop staring and drooling." Leilani whispered into my ear as she noticed my fixed staring at Xander and I gave a light chuckle.

I don't mind drooling, daydreaming or even staring at him.... After all, he's my mate.

The only thing keeping me away from him is my mission and I'll have to finish it soon and spend such a short quality time with him before I die.

"You're a great cook, a great warrior but you're not better than me...no one is better than me....it's not a joke and that's fact." Leilani said with all seriousness that makes me wonder where this argument would lead to.

Leilani is a great cook and I'll choose her meal over exotic food any day anytime but I have not tasted any meal made by Xander and it's kind of difficult on who to support.

They kept ranting when Leilani suddenly brought an idea.

"How about the Luna deciding who the best cook is?" She asked and they both looked at me.

Oh no!.

That was what I was afraid of, now I'm turned between my two favorite people.

"No no no, don't give me that look guys..I'm not interested." I said and went to sit.

"That's definitely awesome. Luna Avery, please come to the dining area and have your breakfast." Xander said, showing me the way.

"This ain't fair, how am I to choose now? I hate this and I'm serious about it." I said with a chuckle as Xander drew out a seat for me to sit.

Leilani served me along with Xander and I ate like a glutton.

Xander's cooking skills were top notch.

Leilani was a pretty good cook and so was Xander and it was difficult to choose who the best is.

After filling my tummy and giving a fake thinking expression, I cleared my throat, patted my tummy and bleached.

Leilani laughed and Xander smiled at my silly act.

I peered from eyes to eyes and gave a warm smile feeling very satisfied.

I cleared my throat and began, "as much as I hate this, I'll love to say I enjoy the delicacies...I'm full to my throat, if there's any more space, I'll have delightfully stuffed more food in but that's enough for today. I'm watching my weight."

I look at the two constants awaiting judgment and I love the tense feeling I'm creating.

I've eaten Leilani's food a lot and this was the first time tasting Xander's food and I enjoyed it.

"So after much consideration, critical thinking and brainstorming...I've come up with a winner." I said and gave each of them a warm smile.

"And the winner of this competition..the best among the best isss....."I dragged the last sentence.

"Luna Avery." I added and I bet their mouth drop opened.

I gave them a short laugh.

"You two weren't waiting for me to choose between my two given people in the world, are you?"I asked the surprised onlookers with a smirk.

"I'm the best winning candidate cause I filled my small tummy with your delicacies, it's amazing plus the fact that you both turned me into a glutton. Your food is so addictive."

Their expressions made me laugh and seeing me laugh...both looked at each other with an evil smirk and I felt that's not good.

Leilani grabbed the table towel and Xander grabbed one two.

Immediately I knew their intention, I got up and sped out.

They both chased me round the house and whacked me with the towel whenever they got the chance.

"You'll lose all those delicacies you eat in a few minutes..you little devil!" Xander said chasing me outside the house and Leilani followed with an excited laugh.

I'm in trouble!

I ran out laughing and saw my only form of defense.

I grabbed the garden's long water pipe and used it as my weapon.

"Don't come any closer or you'll get shot, I'm warning you!" I said out loud amidst loud laughter.

They both halted and I chuckled happily that my trick works.

"I have a job offer for you Xander." I shouted holding the weapon tightly.

"And what might that be, little devil?" He asked, putting his hands on an akimbo.

"I've decided to offer you a job as one of my cooks, you're too talented in the kitchen to be wasting on the battle ground."

Leilani rolled on the floor laughing and Xander whacked her head with the towel he's holding but she didn't stop teasing him.

"Thank you for the offer but I love my job." He said with pride.

"So sad, I was thinking of giving you a promotion quickly. You've won my tummy." I said rubbing my tummy and he sped up to me because of my little distraction and grabbed the pipes from my hand and drenched me.

Leilani laughed harder as I dripped with wet water.

Our house is located in a reserved area and no humans hardly visit so we could use our wolf strength sometimes.

"Ohhhwwww, looks like you need more training...you can't make good use of your own weapon." He said with an evil smirk on his handsome face and I was immediately drawn to him.

He felt the same attraction and I could see the intention in his eyes.

Oh no!

He's gonna kiss me…!
