Chapter 79

Avery's POV.

"Avery!" Someone screamed my name loudly and I needed no soothsayer to tell me who it was.

Ever since I found out about Shannon's involvement in my parents death three months ago, I've avoided her like a plague, her mere presence irritates me and I wish to strangle her alive over and over again.

"Mind the way you scream my name, Shannon...I'm your Luna first before your younger sister...we're in public and I want you to accord me with some respect....SISTER!" I said, turning swiftly to face her with a venomous gaze.

There were people around because I've been training with Xander.

"Good morning Shannon." Xander greeted and Shannon replied with a smile.

I was surprised, since when did she become so friendly?

"I'm sorry for addressing you that way Luna Avery." She apologized, bowing down as a sign of respect.

Ok...what's going on?

What has come over her?

I've despised her so much that I avoid her in every way possible and I didn't bother to hide my hatred towards her.

I'm still trying hard to get evidence against Erik and her mom but everything is proving abortive.

It's like they always expect our every move and dodge it, it's something frustrating and I vent it out in my practice.

I'm getting better at my training, my supernatural abilities are getting better and my martial arts is top notch... I can influence the weather at will now and that's the most amazing power I love.

"What do you want, Shannon?" I asked with rolled eyes and she stood up with a wide smile that I knew was fake and all fake.

"I was hoping if you'll join us for dinner at Ms. Deborah's place? It would be nice huh?" She asked with a smile.

Ms. Deborah?

Oh no, I despise that woman so much that when I see her, the only thing I could think of is killing her in the same cruel way she'd killed my mom.

Once I get any strong evidence against them, they'll be done for...with the help of Leilani, the pack elders have been cured of her control and that alone is a victory because she can't influence the decision of my pack elders.

"Dinner? Tonight?" I asked with feigned surprise.

"Yes...she invited us to come.....they're like family now since we were orphaned." She replied sweetly.

How can I not suspect the whole shits!?

She's going out of her way to invite me for dinner, that's unlike her.

Perhaps they're planning on killing me and ending with their only block to the throne.

I began to think of rain....

"Rain." I muttered, commanding the sky to bring forth rain.

"What did you say Luna Avery?"

"It's going to rain." I announced and everyone stared at me in confusion.

It's just past four in the evening and the weather doesn't show any sign of rain so it was indeed a shock and surprise when I said it was going to rain.

"It's going to rain Shannon and I'm feeling a bit cold, I need to rest." I explained and Shannon just stared at me in confusion.

Sickness isn't something werewolves get easily.

"I'm having a headache Shannon, I hit my head when we were practicing." I explained but she wasn't convinced.

"And the rain?" She asked me with a cocked eyebrow.

"It's going to rain Shannon." I said calmly.

"But there's no sign of....."

The cloud immediately darkened and soon enough, rain drops began and I surprised the onlookers as well as Shannon.

"Woah....how the fuck fuck did you know it was going to rain, Luna?" A girl's voice asked from behind.

"Can't you smell the rain?...i could perceive the scent...couldn't you?" I was surprised as I hurried towards the big training hall to take shelter.

I could hear some footsteps following me.

"That must be a privilege of having the Alpha blood in you...I'm sure none of us here could perceive the scent." The girl said and most of them agreed.

"Avery, the rain isn't that heavy...we can still go." Shannon urged me to stand up and follow her.

Leilani kept nodding her head in a negative way and I understood her perfectly...I don't want to go either.

"Shannon...some other time...I'm exhausted and I wish to be indoors this evening." I explained and disappointment spread across her face.

"Leilani, let's get going...we have so much to do tomorrow...Shannon would you like to join us to explore the woods tomorrow? Leilani knows a great and wonderful place and would like to show us." I invited but as expected she rejected the invitation.

Well...in my case, the less the merrier.

"What do you mean by ‘Us' Luna Avery? Are you going with him?" The girl asked, pointing at Xander.

I've grown fond of the red-haired girl ever since I started training. She's strong and beautiful...though she doesn't like associating socially much, she's always in the company of me, Xander and Leilani.

Leilani doesn't like her much but she didn't voice it out...her behavior was all I needed to read.

"Of course, as usual..the three of us would go...anyone is welcome to join us." I said excitedly.

Exploring the woods with them won't be such a bad idea.

"I'm in."Xavier said, looking at Leilani who sneered at him.

"Me too." Another voice said.

"Me three." Said another.

"Count me in!"Said another.

"Woah....looks like I'll have to seek permission from the general to explore the woods with you all tomorrow." I said with an excited voice and looked towards Xander whose eyes were all smiles.

My eyes lingered for long till I heard a clearing of the throats from some people present.

"I'm beginning to suspect you two." The red haired said and everyone nodded in approval.

A blush crept onto my face when Xander's smile broadened.

"Keep suspecting....it's good for your health." Leilani chipped in, rolling her eyes at the red hair.

Leilani doesn't make enemies but it's certain, she definitely doesn't like the red haired.

I don't remember her name because it's so difficult to pronounce so I gave her a name in my mind ‘Red haired.’ because her hair is dark red.

"If you're interested, get ready and meet us tomorrow here by nine thirty...get your food and water...I'm not sharing mine with anyone." I warned and everyone laughed.

"So let's call it a night. Good night guys." I said standing up.

"Andy goodnight Shannon." I hugged her and left her standing there in anger.

That's more like it.

Shannon's POV.

"I'm no longer sure about Avery, from what I've been hearing...there's something going on between her and Xander...we need to do something and we need to act fast." I explained to Erik and her mom who watched me as I paced up and down.

I'm trying hard to control my anger, especially after the embarrassment she'd showered on me at the pack training center.

"I know." Erik's mom distracted my thoughts and I was surprised that she actually supported me this time.

Well... That's definitely new.

"There's more to this whole shits than we're seeing...Erik's behavior three months ago confirm my suspicion and from what I've checked and what was revealed to me, Avery knows what she's doing...she uses a native old herbs and is using it on my son...my son hasn't had any sexual intimacy between them." She explained and I was shocked.

What is she talking about?

I looked towards Erik for an explanation but he was lost in thoughts to even look at me and that was enough for me to know that whatever his creepy mother is saying is the truth.

"But how?" I asked with shock.

Erik had told me that they had sex...what is this woman saying?

"It was all a hallucination...i don't know how to explain but the truth is that my son hasn't got intimate with her....everything is just a lie" she said angrily standing up.

"She's playing her own games with us and it's just surprising....i still can't see what's happening clearly..I need to consult my powers...I'm as confused as all of you but it is fact that Avery isn't falling into our games...instead she's playing us and we've been falling for her games...we underestimated the little girl...she's smart but I'm smarter.... I'lll get to the root of this and it won't take long for me to find out what's wrong. Comfort him Shannon...I'll be back." She said and left us.

This is definitely surprising, I knew something was off about Avery.. Had they listened to me, all this shits wouldn't be happening.

I warned them.

"Erik...i told you guys that Avery had changed...I'm fucking confused about this shits" I sat beside Erik and he gave a big sigh.

"Fuck! How could I be so stupid...she deceived me...this is so stupid...I'm a failure bae." He said, his voice filled with anger mixed with sadness.

"Don't be so hard on yourself...we'll right all our wrongs okay?"

He nodded.

"I think Xander and Avery might be dating." I released the bombshell of the evening.

He stood up angrily and kicked the table in front of him in anger.
