1043 Disappear Overnight
"Tsk, what can I expect from a hog but a grunt. Can't you say something nice, like about me living a long life," He Ning said as he rolled his eyes in disdain.
"I'm a doctor and I never tell lies. Do you want me to say that you can live to 500 years old when I discuss your condition with you? If you want to hear something auspicious, go and look for Jin Man. He's the best at singing praises," Huo Gao said with a laugh.
He Ning picked up an apple next to him and threw it at Huo Gao. This man was purposely rubbing his nose in something he was currently annoyed with.
"Don't you already know how two-faced Jin Man is? There's no need to get angry over such a person. If you don't like him, then get someone to teach him a lesson," Huo Gao said as he picked up the apple.
To He Ning, what the Xia family and Jiang Jin ganged up to do to him was not really a big deal. Although it meant that he had fewer ways to make money, it did not affect his family's status in the capital at all. At the end of the day, there were very few companies which kept a lot of cash at hand. Their main assets were always their stocks and goods.
Even without the illicit ways to make money, the few private businesses he had which were endorsed by the government made enough money to support the three generations of the He family. It was really a big joke that someone would even dare to look down on the He family.
He Ning did not intend to let Jin Man off so easily. He sat back on the rocking chair and thought for a long time before coming up with an idea. He Ning called out for his trusted aide, Jia Zhong, who specialized in helping him deal with shady matters.
"Let the Jin family return to the state when I first met the guy," He Ning said lazily with his eyes closed.
"Noted. About their lives…" Jia Zhong said as he looked at He Ning hesitantly.
"Let them keep their lives. Death is too good for them, how can we let them off so easily?" He Ning said.
Staying alive was definitely a harder thing to do. He Ning wanted Jin Man to watch helplessly as all his assets disappeared and he became a pauper overnight. He wanted Jin Man to drop to the bottom of the social hierarchy. Perhaps Jim Man would be even worse off than the lowest social class since he would still have to bear a huge debt.
Defeating a person meant taking away the person's most precious thing.
Jia Zhong understood what He Ning meant. After leaving the He family's house, he instructed his subordinates to get the matter done overnight. He told them to do it cleanly and accurately, and not to give Jin Man any chance to get out of it.
The news of the Jin family going bankrupt overnight spread throughout the streets and alleys. All of the Jin family's assets were back in He Ning's hands.
The entire day was very eventful. Early in the morning, Xia Wen was recalled to his workplace to deal with these matters urgently. People no longer gathered outside the Xia family's main door. It was very likely that the crowd outside the courtyard house had probably dispersed as well.
Qiao Mei felt that it was time for her to go home and check on her grandfather and the rest. She wondered how they had been over the past few days.
"Mother, I have to go home and take a look today," Qiao Mei said to Xu Lan.
Xu Lan looked at Qiao Mei wistfully and hurriedly ran to her bedroom. She dragged down a big bag of things that she had prepared for Qiao Mei to use when it was time for her to give birth. She was so meticulous that she even prepared a few sets of hospital gowns for Qiao Mei to change into, as she was worried that the gowns which the hospital provided would not be comfortable enough.
"Mei Mei, bring these back with you. I'm worried that you won't have time to come and take them later. It's safer to keep these things with you," Xu Lan said.
"There's really too much stuff. I already have enough things at home. If we prepare too many things, it will be wasteful if I don't need to use them. There's really a mountain of things at home," Qiao Mei said with a smile.
Liu Fen quickly chimed in, "Mei Mei is right! Your mother acts like she wants to move the entire shopping mall to your house. She wants to buy everything she sees. That day, she even went to tailor clothes for the two children. It's not as if she has never birthed and raised children before. Kids grow up so quickly that they probably won't get the chance to wear most of the clothes we have at home. Yet, she still wants to buy more."
Xu Lan felt embarrassed by what Liu Fen said. She was just worried that Qiao Mei and the children would feel uncared for. Her concern for them had made her go overboard. To be honest, she did not have much experience in taking care of children. She had left her three children with Wu Min after they were born and she did not have to worry about anything related to them.
"I have listened to you and I'm not buying anything anymore! What's the point of telling Qiao Mei about this!" Xu Lan said.
"I know that Mother is doing all these for me. Let's stop buying any more things. If there's really not enough, we can buy more when the time comes. Right now, there's already enough for the two children to wear a new set of clothes every day for a month without repeating!" Qiao Mei said.
