After Li Gui finished her work at the company, she went to take the small bus back to her house in the city. As soon as she reached the bus station, she saw a person that made her feel disgusted.
“Li Gui! Long time no see!” Zhao Liu shouted excitedly, causing everyone to turn and look at the two of them.
There were no other factories nearby, so most of the people waiting for the bus were Qiao Mei’s factory staff. Everyone knew Li Gui and some of them were even her subordinates!
“I don’t know you,” Li Gui said coldly.
“Why are you so heartless? We’ve met before and I even said that I wanted to date you! How can you not remember anything?” Zhao Liu shouted loudly.
The people around them gasped. They did not expect Li Gui to do such an… immoral thing at her age! She looked so decent.
In this era, people were all very reserved. Even husband and wife had to maintain a distance from each other when walking on the streets. They could not hold hands, let alone say anything mushy to each other. Otherwise, they would be criticized using posters!
“What nonsense are you talking about! I don’t even know you! Stay away from me!” Li Gui said with a frown.

She walked home dejectedly and did not even hear Xu Kang greeting her. She just walked in through the main door of Qiao Mei’s house, through the backyard and into her own house.
This was not something that a normal person would do. One look at Li Gui and Xu Kang could tell that she had something on her mind. Xu Kang quickly informed Qiao Mei about this, worried that Li Gui might get hurt.
“Mom!” Qiao Mei hurriedly ran to Li Gui’s house and shouted out.
“I’m here! Why are you in such a hurry…” Li Gui said woodenly.
“I heard from Sister Xu that you don’t seem well, so I’m here to take a look. What’s wrong? Did something happen at the factory?” Qiao Mei asked patiently.
Li Gui shook her head. Qiao Mei thought for a moment and said, “Did that person from the Zhao family come looking for you again?”
Li Gui was stunned and said in surprise, “How do you know about this? I didn’t tell anyone! Did the people in the factory tell you! What else did they say!”
“It’s just a guess. There aren’t too many things that can affect you like this. If anything happens to my four younger siblings, I’d definitely be informed. This is the only thing that I won’t know about,” Qiao Mei said.
Li Gui had no choice but to relate whatever happened just now. Qiao Mei frowned. She did not expect the Zhao family to start causing trouble again so soon after she let them off.
“Alright, I understand. You should stay at my house during this period of time and help me take care of the children. Don’t stay here alone,” Qiao Mei instructed.
Everyone was very busy every day. Zhang Chao and Zhang Qin were both staying over at Qiao Qiang’s place, so Li Gui’s house had been left vacant for a long time. It was not safe even if she stayed there with the two children. Qiao Mei would feel more at ease if Li Gui moved in with her.
Li Gui packed her things quietly. Qiao Mei called for the chauffeur and went straight to the factory in a fit of anger. Along the way, Qiao Mei thought about ways to refute the rumors about the relationship between Li Gui and Zhao Liu.
If she simply fired the employees who spread the rumors, it would make the others suspicious instead. However, if she let the rumors run wild, then if Zhao Liu came looking for Li Gui again, her mother and her would be caught in an even more passive situation.
