He Mei felt that she had ended up like this all because of Qiao Mei and Qian’e. Why should the two of them be so blissfully happy while she had to bear Xia Zhe’s child in secret and not be able to meet anyone! This was so unfair!
After He Mei returned to the He family residence, she secretly went looking for Zhou Dun, an investigator that her family used to hire. She wanted him to help her find out more information about Qian’e. Zhou Dun was a talent that He Guo had nurtured from when he was young. He would definitely not let her family down!
“Thanks for your help, Uncle Zhou. You’re the only one who can help me now,” He Mei said sincerely as she looked at Zhou Dun.
“I’ll definitely help you with whatever you ask me to do,” Zhou Dun said as he handed the document in his hand to He Mei.
He Mei hurriedly took it and quickly read the contents. Her hands trembled as she held on to the document. She could not believe that Qian’e and Qiao Mei had actually set up a factory together! Moreover, they were doing very well!
“How many people know about what Qian’e is doing now?” He Mei asked as she looked at Zhou Dun.
Zhou Dun replied honestly, “Other than the people they work with, no one else knows. The owner of this factory is Qiao Mei in name, but it’s Qian’e who’s actually running the operations.”
He Mei nodded in satisfaction. In that case, they should not blame her for being heartless!
He Mei organized a group of people and sent them to different places to sabotage Qian’e. Some people went to the neighborhood where her parents stayed to spread the news that she had become a factory director and described all her recent endeavors in an exaggerated manner. The rest compiled information about her past into a flier, made many copies and dropped them around the factory when night fell.
The next day, everyone knew about all those things which had happened to Qian’e in the past.
“Hey! Did you see those papers that were blown in by the wind yesterday!” a woman said excitedly.
“I saw it! I never expected Qian’e to be such a person! How can she do those things at such a young age! She’s really too shameless! I think Director Qiao is a nice person. How can she be friends with such a woman!” another older woman said regretfully.
“Director Qiao is a nice person. She must have been deceived!”
“That’s right! If that woman can do such despicable things in the past, there’s nothing she can’t do!”
“Two days ago, I even saw that… young master of the Han Corporation sending her back! They had bought a lot of things and the car was stuffed to the brim!”
“Look at that! She’s such an indecent woman!”
Everyone gossiped about Qian’e incessantly. Chi Ze and Mao Hang looked at their colleagues in frustration.
“Brother Chi, we’ve worked with Sister Qian’e and Sister Qiao Mei since the beginning. We know their characters better than anyone else. Do you think that the factory has run into trouble? Is someone deliberately sabotaging us?” Mao Hang frowned and whispered.
“What you say makes sense. Let’s wait and see for now. We should stop everyone from discussing it. Sister Qian’e is still in the office and hasn’t come out yet. I don’t know if she’ll be able to leave the office today. I’ll get my wife to go and take a look at her later. Xia Zhe’s wife is pregnant now and can’t get too worked up. Let’s solve this problem together,” Chi Ze said.
Wang Fang and Yang Mei prepared breakfast for Qian’e and went to her office. Qian’e was still sleeping inside the lounge in her office, so the two of them put down the food and left. By noon, there were still no signs of movement in the office. When Yang Mei delivered lunch, the breakfast was still sitting there untouched!
“Qian’e? Where are you?” Yang Mei shouted.
There was no response.
“Qian’e! I’m coming in! I’m going to open the door!” Yang Mei shouted for a long time before she pushed open the door to the lounge. Qian’e was curled up in a corner motionlessly, holding a stack of documents in her arms.
Yang Mei hurriedly rushed over and helped Qian’e to the bed. She put the documents aside and tidied things around before sitting down beside Qian’e and saying, “Sister, what’s wrong with you? I’ve never seen you like this!”
“Sister… I might… I might not be able to remain in this factory anymore…” Qian’e said with tears in her eyes.
“Where are you going! You can’t go anywhere! You are one of the founders of this factory, so where are you going! I’m still hoping that you will make me rich!” Yang Mei said with a smile.
Qian’e shook her head aggrievedly. She thought that whatever happened in the past would remain in the past. Qiao Mei also always told her that past events would disappear with time, but reality was now telling her otherwise.
