Chapter 32
"My Day Walkers, isn't this fascinating?" she asked them.
"In deed it is." they all said at once with a uniformed bow.
The Great One slowly got up from her seat and approached Danny who was trembling in fear on his knees. Her long black dress with a long slit that stretched from her thigh to her ankles swept the floor along with her coat of crow feathers. Her high heeled shoes echoed all over the room.
Danny almost screamed when he gazed into her soul snatching eyes of pure coldness. He gasped so loud that he thought he was going to have a heart attack. It was as though he was facing Akirexer again because of their striking resemblance. There was no doubt in his mind that both sisters were equally vicious and cold.
The Great One grabbed Danny by the jaw. "You have grown so arrogant over the years just because I offered you protection. I am furious that you didn't think of reporting to me the moment you discovered that a darkas god attacked you."
Danny tried to answer back but he was afraid to spray her with his saliva so he whimpered instead. He was relieved when she let go of him.
He bowed with his forehead touching the floor, trembling and whimpering. "I am sorry. Please forgive me because I am nothing but a fool." his shaky voice sounded.
His plea was met with a tight kick that splashed blood out of his mouth. That, however, did not trigger anything in the vampires. They just kept their heads bowed as though they could not smell the sweet metallic scent. The Great One turned and went back to sit down. Danny feared for his life as he wondered what she was going to do to him.
"Dr Spencer," she spoke once more as soon as she was seated. "You mentioned to me earlier that you need humans to test out your hypothesis. Well then, he is a start."
"Thank you my all powerful Great One." Dr Spencer put his hands together.
"Great One, vampire queen of the day and night, please forgive me! I didn't mean to be insolent. I just didn't want to bother you with a matter I believed was personal." Danny pleaded to the point of almost crying.
Bolt gritted his teeth in rage and punched Danny so hard in the face that he broke his nose. Danny bled profusely that blood ran down his hands and sprinkled onto the floor. Again, none of the vampires were fazed.
"How dare you disrespect The Great One? You will do your punishment!" Bolt roared but received an insulting smack at the back of his head.
Wondering who was insolent enough to strike him, he turned around with a growl only to pause his threatening hand in the air. Dr Spencer eyeballed him so hard that Bolt unconsciously dropped his hand.
"You idiot, this is the first human I have been given. How dare you wound him? I can't carry out any experiment if he is already dead." Dr Spencer took off his spectacles in anger and wiped his face in frustration. "If you want to be useful, just help me take him to the lab."
Not wanting to argue in the presence of the Great One with a Day Walker who out ranked him, Bolt submitted. "Yeah, whatever." Bolt threw Danny over his shoulder and followed Dr Spencer out.
The Great One remained grinning in her seat. She had no idea how Akirexer got her new found powers. Never in her wildest dreams did she think that a darkas god would decide to turn her.
"Chisato," she called out to the Japanese old man.
"Yes your greatness." Chisato humbly answered.
"Find my sister and get rid of her. I want it done as soon as possible." she ordered him.
"As The Great One wishes, so it will be done." Chisato responded.
"Whitney, you should have stayed dead." she crossed her legs and laughed hysterically while her minions maintained their respectful silence.

Akirexer stood on a rooftop. This wasn't just any rooftop but the rooftop of a bank opposite the Darwin's Law Firm. Looking at the building brought back so many old memories. Unfortunately, all those memories were overshadowed by one memory - the dreaded day she lost her job instead of getting promoted.
A portal suddenly sparked behind her and Akirexer jumped into defense mode. Her tensed body relaxed upon seeing a man and woman dressed in the maroon Royal Guards uniforms. The man took off his hat in respect and took a step forward.
"Greetings, lady Akirexer. We are here under the orders of her royal highness, Queen Sharaina." his raspy voice humbly sounded to which the guard behind him nodded her head.
"Is there a problem?" Akirexer expressed her concern.
"None at all," the man dismissed and pulled out an envelope from his pocket. "We are only here to deliver this." he said to her bewilderment.
Akirexer didn't have time to grasp what was going on because what came next was a Received Note with a blank dotted line. A pen was swiftly provided. Akirexer took it and ran her eyes through the document. It had a golden seal and Sharaina's signature. Akirexer signed it and returned it. The guards bowed slightly and left in a portal.
Akirexer remained studying the envelope. It was brown in color and had nothing written on it. The only special thing about it was the golden seal on it. Without wasting anymore time, she carefully tore it open. Her lips parted at the money inside. She spotted a note and pulled it out.
Here's $5000, you left without any supplies. - Sharaina
Akirexer laughed softly to herself. "Sometimes I forget how considerate she is. Long have I depended only on myself."
Akirexer shoved the envelope in her cloak pocket and returned her gaze back to the firm. She had hoped that she wasn't have to go back there but luck wasn't on her side. Akirexer pondered on how to go about everything. Surely, letting anyone see her was a bad idea.
Akirexer's thoughts were suddenly cut short when she saw Rose go into her office. She observed that Rose looked well recovered and busy as usual. Akirexer averted her eyes from Rose. The only reason she was there was to kill Steve. He wasn't in his office yet. It was now a matter of waiting.

"Good morning Miss Peterson." A young lady confidently greeted Rose when she was allowed into her office.
Rose looked at her from head to toe and realized that she hadn't seen her before. "Good morning. Who might you be exactly, a client perhaps?" Rose asked her.
"Well, I am not a client. I am your new intern, Jasmine Brown." She stretched her hand out in greeting but Rose only stared at her bewildered. Jasmine pulled her hand away and tucked her dark hair behind her ear. Rose's rudeness got her nervous.
"I wasn't expecting the firm to choose an intern for me. I am very much capable of doing that myself." Rose rudely remarked making Jasmine feel even more nervous. "Anyway, I guess it can't be helped. Are you aware of the cases we have to handle for the next three months?"
"Yes I am aware." she replied with a nervous nod.

Akirexer stepped out of a portal and into Steve's office. She had lost her patience in waiting for him. She went to his neat desk and saw a portrait of Asher. The woman who took Steve from her.
Steve took an interest in Asher after years of Akirexer rejecting his marriage proposal. While the break up hurt, it didn't come as a shock. Even she admitted that their constant fighting suffocated them. At the time, Akirexer still loved Steve but she agreed to remain friends with him. A mistake she regretted.
Akirexer swallowed at her anger and picked up a card right next to Asher's portrait. It was a lovely white wedding card coated in glittering silver. Wrapped around it was a silver ribbon. Akirexer opened the card and read.
