Chapter 38
Sean burst out of the ground outside the secret base of the Day Walkers. To his surprise, his lava did not melt the ice cube Sheila was trapped in. Not that he cared about her but it puzzled him only because that was the first time his lava failed to melt anything.
He thought for a moment with his hand on his chin before finally picking up the ice cube. He headed straight for Dr. Spencer's laboratory. When he arrived, he found him at his desk comparing notes. Sean roughly dropped the ice cube to the ground and startled Dr Spencer.
Not rising from his seat, Dr Spencer asked, "What happened?"
Sean sniffed and held his broken ribs. He offered himself a seat and ordered one of the lab assistants to bring him a glass of blood. He then felt the impatient eyes of Dr. Spencer pierce through him that it made a soft laugh escape from his mouth. He turned and looked right back at the eyes and said,
"We both know that you don't care about what happened to Sheila but if you must know, the girl we were supposed to capture had her dragon freeze Sheila."
"Did you at least get a sample of it?" Dr. Spencer got off his chair.
Sean threw a scale at his desk. "Does this answer your question?" He grinned. "I got it out when I got hold of its tail."
Dr. Spencer picked the scale up with shaky hands and laughed loud. "This is magnificent! Finally I am sure to attain my goals!"
Sean got up and pointed at Sheila. "She is your problem now."
Sean was so preoccupied with the pain from his broken ribs that he did not see Danny. He bumped into him and Danny backed away in fright. Sean chuckled and held Danny's chin. In a whisper he said,
"Do not worry. I have no intentions of harming you."
He walked passed Danny and he sighed in relief.
"You look like you almost pissed on yourself." Dr. Spencer said to Danny the moment their eyes met.
Still shivering, Danny replied. "Letter C gives me the creeps you know. I heard that he preys on men."
"Not ugly ones." Dr. Spencer assured him but his assurance was met with a frown.
"Are you saying I'm ugly?"
"Oh please don't act like you don't know it. No vampire wants to suck your blood. It is like eating food out of a raggedy filthy disgusting bag. You're gross!" Dr Spencer got emotional and Danny bowed his head.

Rose drove alone in silence. Not even her radio was on because she was in deep thought. Akirexer was unconscious for the whole week in her house. Rose couldn't call a doctor or take her to the hospital because it was clear that she wasn't human. What puzzled Rose the most was that unlike the two vampires she met, Akirexer was warm.
"What exactly is she?" Rose wondered.
She turned into a driveway and pulled down her window. Before her was Steve's house. Considering what had happened to his brothers, Rose couldn't shake the bad feeling that Steve was in danger. She got out of her car and headed for the door.
Asher was on her yoga mat when she heard the door bell ring twice. She had no intention of going to attend to whoever was at the door. Asher heard the door bell again and she rolled her eyes.
"Mother, can you get that?!" Asher yelled.
"I am busy washing my hair!" Her mother yelled back.
"Oh for goodness sake!" Asher grumbled to herself.
She met Rose's eyes and her mood turned for the worst. What the hell is she doing here?
Asher forced a smile that didn't even reach her ears. "What a pleasant surprise to see you here." Asher lied.
Rose saw right through her plastic smile and she smiled back trying her best not to laugh out loud. "I need to talk to Steve. May I come in?" Rose asked Asher. Oh my gosh the look on her face is priceless! Keep it together Rose. You don't want to laugh at her and get her angrier.
"Er well Steve is ah..." Asher couldn't think of a quick lie. She was always terrible at lying.
"Who is at the door?" Steve suddenly sounded and went to check. "Rose?" He asked stunned. "What are you doing here? I hope there's no problem." he added.
"I just need to speak to you about something that's all." Rose smiled brightly.
"Please do come in." Steve gave her way.
Rose sat uncomfortably in Steve's lounge room. Steve sat opposite her with Asher by his side and his mother in law across the room to his left. Asher didn't notice that she was glaring at Rose but her mother did. Rose couldn't say what she wanted to say with the two women there.
"Um, I need to speak to you alone. That's of course if you don't mind." Rose stated.
"Asher, may you and your mother please excuse us?" Steve requested of Asher.
Asher hesitated but when she saw the seriousness in Steve's eyes, she got up unwillingly. "Come on mother, let's go."
"Humph, I'm telling you if you keep letting him disrespect you like that you are going to regret it." Asher's mother warned.
"Oh be quiet mother. Hurry up and go upstairs. Your hair looks terrible." Asher snapped at her. She wasn't in the mood for her unwanted advice. "Why did you even come down anyway despite knowing you still had to blow dry it?"
"I am warning you Asher. Mark my words." The old woman insisted before going up the stairs.
Asher hid behind the lounge room wall. Now to see what this deranged woman wants with Steve.
Now that they were alone, Rose felt comfortable enough to speak.
"Steve let's cut to the chase. I know who you are and I know about your brothers." Rose said but Steve remained silent. "I also know that your brothers are responsible for Whitney's death." Rose continued but Steve's calmness and composure surprised her. "Funny, my knowledge of who you are doesn't seem to bother you."
"I had a feeling that you knew." Steve admitted. "Is this what you came to tell me? Let me guess, you are planning on blackmailing me."
Rose scoffed and leaned back into her chair. "Do not belittle me Robert. I am only here because I feel that you may be in trouble."
Asher gasped at her words and placed her hand on her chest. Steve in trouble?
"Why so?" Steve wondered, again still calm.
"You are aware of the death of your brothers right?" Rose asked Steve.
"Yes I am aware." Steve coldly answered.
"Do you know who killed them?" She asked him again and he slowly shook his head. "I thought so." Rose said with a hint of arrogance in her tone. "Whitney is the one who killed them."
Steve got off the chair in shock. "Whitney? As in Whitney Stewart?"
"How many Whitneys do we both know?" Rose asked him back sarcastically.
"But how could she have killed Billy and Jackson? She is dead. I personally viewed her body in the coffin and we both witnessed her burial. Are you saying that she is a ghost that has returned from beyond the grave?"
"Not ghost per say. Do you believe in the existence of vampires?" Rose asked Steve.
"Er well yes I do. Are you saying that she is one now?"
"I am not sure but I have reason to believe so. Listen Steve, you may be innocent but there are chances that she will come after you. I just came to warn you." Rose looked at her wrist watch and got up. "I have a press conference in half an hour. Everyone wants to know about what happened to me during my capture." She picked up her phone. "I'll show myself out."
Asher ran into the kitchen and when she heard Rose close the door, she rushed to Steve. She saw how tensed he looked and her heart dropped. Steve looked at her and knew that she heard everything. Asher hugged him tight and sobbed.

Akirexer opened her eyes and slowly closed them again. She weakly opened them again and saw a little boy looking down at her through her blurry vision. Akirexer blinked her eyes in an attempt to clear her vision and the boy drew closer to her. When her vision was finally clear enough, she immediately recognized the boy as Rose's son.
"Hi there Mason. Where is your mother?" Akirexer softly asked him with a smile.
"She has gone to work and she won't be back until supper."
"Oh I see."
Rose is one hell of a stubborn woman. She completely ignored my advice and brought me here. I have to leave before anything happens.
The door suddenly opened and walking in was a fat Asian middle aged woman. She scowled at Mason and he got off the bed.
"What is this? I thought I told you to leave her alone so that she gets some rest." She pointed to the door. "Come on, leave."
Mason said nothing and walked out. The maid closed the door behind him and turned to Akirexer with glowing yellow eyes.
"One week of hibernation? Chisato really did a number on you." she said.
"Are you part of the vampire cult?" Akirexer asked her.
She snickered and shape shifted back to her original form. Her letter D tattoo was clearly seen as she bounced around in her pink dress that had a white apron wrapped around it. Her red wage heels made clacking sounds on the wooden floor.
"As you can see, I rank the letter D." She stopped jumping up and down and grimly glared at Akirexer. "My name is Nadia and I am here to violently kill you."
