Chapter 46
Akirexer fell asleep on Queen Sharaina's laps. Queen Sharaina gently stroked her hair as she slept peacefully. As she watched Akirexer sleep, her mind drifted away to the night that she met Akirexer.
She was wondering around in the woods in search of the source of the strong gamarax she picked up. It was so dense that it gave her a slight headache. She had only been in the woods for ten minutes when she suddenly lost connection of the mysterious source of gamarax.
Sharaina was about to open a portal when she saw a familiar figure standing on top of a fifteen foot rock. She noticed that the being had his attention on something further down. Sharaina jumped up a tree and walked through the branches until she was above what had caught the attention of the being.
"On duty as usual Grim Reaper?" Sharaina asked the being with her eyes fixed on the naked and bruised Akirexer.
"Oh yes, Queen Sharaina. My job never gets done." The Grim Reaper responded with his husky and demonic voice. His boney hand held his scythe firmly as the wind blew his dark cloak.
The more Sharaina studied Akirexer's condition, the more pity consumed her. "I wonder why she was subjected to such torture."
"Humans are getting even more wicked by the day." The Grim Reaper answered without a hint of concern in his voice.
Akirexer moved her index finger and the Grim Reaper raised his scythe. Sharaina held up her hand and he paused.
"You of all people know that my work isn't to be interrupted." The Reaper sternly said to her.
"You also know that you are to never interfere with darkas gods when they take interest into a human. She is mine." Sharaina boldly answered back.
The Grim Reaper put his scythe down. "Very well then. However, you must know that she only has ten minutes left to live."
The Reaper turned away from Sharaina who shifted her eyes back at Akirexer. Without another word, the Reaper slashed the air with his scythe and a portal opened. He didn't bother to take one last look at Sharaina before getting in.
"What an extraordinary mortal." Sharaina remarked at Akirexer.
Sharaina's thought's were cut by the sound of Akirexer moaning softly in her sleep. She smiled at her and gave her hair a little brush with her fingers. Never had she seen Akirexer so vulnerable. Even when she was beaten and left for the dead, she still had that fire in her.
Sharaina admired that about her. Akirexer reminded of herself when she was younger. She agreed that Akirexer had gotten stronger over the past months due to their pact but there was need for her to get stronger. This was especially because of all the enemies she had.
Whoever these enemies are, it seems like they have pushed her to her emotional limit. Sharaina sighed to herself.

"Hey Waxx, do you think Queen Sharaina is still up there?" Derrick asked from behind the sofa.
"She is definitely up there man. We can still sense her presence." Waxx answered. He felt a cold sweat run down his spine whilst the rest developed goosebumps.
"I knew bringing her here was a bad idea." Sana added. "What do you think the queen will do to us for kidnapping her none pure?" Sana whimpered and hugged Sanuika.
"Enough! I thought I told you all to shut up! Shut up and let me think!" Waxx raised his voice at them but Sanuika was unfazed.
"We are finished and it is all because of that stupid medallion." She spat.
"Do you mean the Infinite Medallion?" Sharaina suddenly sounded and everyone bowed their heads again.
Sharaina found her way to a sofa and sat down with her legs crossed. She looked at the gang and gave a soft yawn.
"You may all rise and take your seats. I have questions that need to be answered."
Everyone immediately got off their knees and sat down as ordered. Derrick emerged from behind the sofa and sat nervously on it. Sharaina raised her eyebrow at him wondering why he was amongst them.
Waxx noticed that Sharaina wasn't impressed with Derrick's presence. He felt her sharp eyes pierce through him like needles and he involuntarily cleared his throat. He took off his sun glasses and looked right back at them. Her stare was cold and inquisitive.
"Why is a human with you?" Sharaina icily asked him.
"He is my most trusted companion your highness. I assure you that he will not reveal our secrets to his kind." Waxx humbly explained while everyone else felt tensed.
"You know that we are not to form bonds with humans unless you decide to form a pact with them." Sharaina sternly reminded him. "I can have you all executed for this."
Waxx put his hands together. His eyes beamed in sincerity as he looked for the right words to convince his queen to spare their lives. "Please have mercy on us my queen. I completely trust this human."
"That doesn't mean that I should trust him." Sharaina's voice was harsh but calm.
"I plead with you, your highness. Please spare our lives." Waxx begged once more.
"You are an interesting fellow, son of Sevilon. Not only did you drop out of the military in order to pursue your desire to be a bounty hunter, but you recruited a human into your gang."
"Please have mercy on us, great warrior, your royal highness, Queen Sharaina." Waxx felt desperate as the rest feared even more for their lives.
"You were a prodigy and the reflection of your father in battle. Why did you leave the military?" Sharaina asked Waxx
"I felt that my place wasn't in the military, my queen." Waxx honestly answered.
Sharaina turned to Maradina and the twins. "Does the same reason apply to you too?" She asked them and they fearfully nodded their heads.
"You seem to have assembled quite a team here Waxx. You have warriors, a gamarax manipulator, a human and..." Sharaina paused and sniffed the air. "a werewolf."
"Yes my queen." Waxx swallowed hard.
"Where is the werewolf?" she asked him.
"He doesn't live with us." Waxx explained.
Queen Sharaina's face balled into a dark scowl and that sent chills down Waxx's spine. "How did you end up with my none pure?"
"I rescued her from been blown away by the Infinite Medallion, my queen."
"Tell me everything you know about the medallion."
"I was once attacked by a vampire. On her neck hung the Infinite Medallion. She blew me away with it. When I regained consciousness, I was in utter shock that a vampire had the medallion. I took it upon myself to steal back the medallion from the vampire so I assembled this team."
"For months we had been hunting down the vampire. Yesterday we came across your none pure in our pursuit of the medallion. I was shocked to see the resemblance she possessed with the vampire." Waxx ended his explanation and wiped the sweat off his forehead.
Sharaina's lips parted in sheer shock. Things began to unfold in her mind. She thought back to the reports of an occult vampire group that caused negative energy crisis.
She has the power. The voice of the vampire she interrogated echoed in her ears.
She recalled the war the Council of Elders predicted to her.
The Infinite Medallion must be retrieved at all costs. It is with a vampire. Their old voices rang in her head.
Sharaina pictured the night she found Akirexer. She remembered the dense gamarax that led her into the woods. It was at that moment that Sharaina stood up almost knocking the coffee table over.
It was the medallion I sensed!
"Are you sure of what you are saying?" she impatiently asked Waxx.
"What he says is the truth." A feminine voice sounded from up the stairs.
Sharaina turned and set her eyes upon Akirexer.
"What he says is true." Akirexer repeated herself.
"This is serious." Sharaina whispered to herself. She turned back to Waxx. "You have known about this all this time and you didn't bother to report it?" she angrily blurted out.
"Please forgive me, my queen." Waxx knelt down and bowed for mercy.
"A war is approaching!" Sharaina grew even angrier. "And you!" She furiously pointed at Akirexer. "Why didn't you tell me that you are related to the vampire you were pursuing?"
"I didn't know that I am related to her. All this time I thought my enemy was someone else. How could I have possibly known that my sister was behind all my pain and suffering?!" Akirexer flared up in frustration.
"Akirexer you are a part of something big and sinister." Sharaina glared at Waxx. "Get up!" She commanded him and when they were face to face she pulled his collar. "From now on you are working for Dark Star. Your first assignment is to train Akirexer. She must master the dragon by the time I see you again. Do you understand?" She shoved him back.
"What?" Akirexer asked stunned.
"I can't have you getting killed in battle by that vampire. It is already bad enough that it has the medallion. Under no circumstances can it have my power. Waxx is your teacher now. Do you understand?"
"I understand." Akirexer dropped her gaze.
Sharaina opened a portal and looked at Derrick. She turned her eyes to Waxx. "He is your responsibility. Should he decide to reveal our secrets, the Council of Elders will tell me. When they do, I will kill the both of you."
Waxx bowed at Sharaina's words. He didn't have the courage to respond. Sharaina turned back to Akirexer.
"I will see you soon." She told her and Akirexer nodded her head. Sharaina got into the portal and it closed behind her.

Rose got into Steve's office and found him in deep thought at his desk. He wasn't wearing his glasses and had a bandage on his cheek. Rose closed the door behind her but the sound of it did not interrupt Steve's thoughts. She took the chair opposite him and the lavender scent of her perfume broke Steve's trance. He looked right at her stunned and Rose pouted at him.
"You look so handsome without your glasses Stevie." She teased him.
Steve put his glasses back on and leaned against his chair. "Did you come all the way here just to flirt with a wounded man Rosy?" Steve teased her back.
"No I came to ask you if you watched the news last night." Rose leaned against her chair and crossed her legs.
"I watched the news alright. What happened at the chapel was all over the news. The reporter said a woman with explosives attacked me at the chapel." Steve rubbed his chin. "Everyone suspects that Whitney is behind the massive explosion that took out nearly half the city."
"I actually drove by some of the ruins on my way here. There is no footage of Whitney and Danny so no one really knows the cause of the explosion. It's all just speculations now. Do you think Whitney caused the blast?"
"I don't even know what to think anymore." Steve remarked and Rose sighed.

The next morning, Waxx laid underneath a tree on his back with a toothpick sticking out of his mouth. A grass hat covered half of his face. He swung his foot left and right at the sweet melodic chirps of a bird. The footsteps he heard approaching him didn't prompt him to sit up. He listened to the steps draw closer until they stopped.
"You know, despite this hat covering my face, I can still see your underwear." Waxx said without moving an inch.
"You're an asshole Waxx." An angry feminine voice responded.
A soft laugh escaped Waxx's lungs and he sat upright looking at the woman before him. She had her hands folded as she glared at him. Her long pink hair was tied in a pony tail. The gentle breeze barely blew her short and flared summer dress that went well with her brown sandals.
"To what do I owe this visit, Melonina my love?" Waxx sang in a tune matching the chirps of the bird.
Vice commander Melonina rolled her eyes at him. "I came to see how you are doing. You hardly call me anymore. I can't even remember the last time you paid me a visit."
"Well I have been a little busy lately. I'm sorry." Waxx answered and his response was met with a tight slap.
"Too busy for your wife?" Melonina raised her voice at him scaring the bird out of the tree.
