Chapter 54
Akirexer laid exhausted on the ground with her bruised arms and legs spread apart. She was sweating and panting heavily. The cool breeze of the night soothed her. She had been training all day with minimum rest and still she got no where near Waxx's chin.
Maradina chugged down a bottle of water. She sustained only a few bruises on her hands. Maradina slowly got up to her feet and dusted herself. Akirexer turned her head to Maradina and frowned.
"Are you leaving me all alone?" Akirexer asked Maradina.
"I wish to have my bath." Maradina explained.
"You're so sweet Maradina. You don't have to explain yourself. Go on ahead. I will join you as soon as I master the strength to get up."
Sana and Sanuika suddenly appeared from the shadows. Each was dragging four unconscious vampires. They dropped them to the ground and Akirexer sighed in relief. Akirexer crawled her way to the vampires. She moaned in pain at every movement she made. The twins laughed at her state.
"Wow Akirexer, they let you have it." The twins said at once.
"And you two are here to rescue me." Akirexer got hold of a vampire's head and started absorbing him.
Yeah we figured that you would need a boost to help you hunt." Sana remarked after folding her arms.
"We're sorry we couldn't bring any for you Maradina." Sanuika said to Maradina.
"It's okay, I will be able to hunt." Maradina quickly replied.
The twins froze in shock. They looked into each other's eyes and saw the shock in them. The twins took a deep breath and screamed. Their screams made Waxx and Bruce to burst out of the house in panic.
"What the hell is going on?" Bruce wondered as his eyes scanned the area.
It did not take long for Waxx and Bruce to realize that the twins were screaming out of excitement. Waxx got back into the house without a second thought. Unlike Bruce, he knew why the twins were so excited. Bruce on the other hand had his curiosity get the best out of him. He watched the twins hug Maradina.
"Say something again." Sanuika held Maradina's shoulders with tears of joy in her eyes.
"I love you and Sana very much." Maradina responded and the twins screamed again.
The twins hugged Maradina so tight shrieking and giggling in excitement. Akirexer paid little attention to them. Her focus was on feeding. She was busy working on her last vampire. Akirexer got up and stretched herself. She took a look at the girls and smiled at them. Her smile however was wiped off her face when she caught sight of Britney approaching her.
The twins were stunned to see Britney. They looked at each other puzzled. They were even more shocked to see Maradina exchange greetings with her.
"She looks just like the Great One." Sanuika whispered to Sana.
Sensing that the sisters needed some time alone, Maradina said. "We will be inside if you need us Akirexer."
"Thanks." Akirexer quickly answered and the girls left.
"So you go by the name of Akirexer now huh?" Britney smiled at Akirexer when they were finally alone and out of hearing range from the girls.
"Yes I do but you can still call me Whitney. I love hearing you call me that." Akirexer smiled back and Britney nodded her head.
Akirexer felt so awkward that it was palpable. "Britney, about last night..." She started.
"Stop." Britney shook her head. "You don't have to explain yourself. I have done a lot of thinking today and it has made me realize that you are right. I should focus on my unborn child." Britney lovingly held her belly. Her eyes glanced over to Akirexer's bruises. "I can see you have been training all day." She commented.
"Yes, I have to get stronger. Escabitha will attack again so I must be ready for her this time."
"The sooner that bitch dies the better." Britney angrily said through her teeth.
Akirexer saw only hatred burning in Britney's eyes. The blood thirst and soullessness of Britney's eyes astonished her. What stood before her wasn't the bubbly and sweet sister she knew and loved but a woman consumed by hate. Britney was the woman Akirexer was a few days ago.
"Promise me that you will kill her." Britney requested.
Akirexer faced away brushed her hand against her nose. "I can't make any promises to you."
"Why can't you?" Britney asked perplexed.
"It's too early to make any promises." Akirexer faced Britney once more. "What I can assure you is that I will make sure justice is served."
Britney was about to object when she heard Alex calling after her. Akirexer gave a silent sigh in relief. In minutes, Alex joined the sisters. He was oblivious to the awkward situation he walked into.
"I am glad you made it babe. Let us go inside. Everyone is eager to meet you." Alex cheerfully said to Britney.
"You guys go ahead." Akirexer declined. "I have some hunting to do." She explained.
"Oh sure." Alex understood.

Akirexer appeared in New York City. As always, the city looked even more beautiful at night. She admired it's splendor as she stood on the roof of a six story building. Her eyes glowed as she scanned the area for vampires. In no time she spotted three to the west. Akirexer leaped off the building.
The vampires sensed her coming and they split in three directions. Akirexer quickly chased after one. She chased him through an alley before he slammed into a wall and fell back. He tried to get up but was forced back down by the head and absorbed by another darkas god. Akirexer glared at him with her hand on her hip.
"You knew that I had that one but you decided to have him regardless. You owe me a vampire." She said to him and he laughed softly.
"I didn't expect to see you here, Akirexer." He turned to Akirexer.
"Vice commander Quix." Akirexer took a step back.
Quix stretched himself up and charmingly smiled at Akirexer. He wasn't wearing his uniform and Akirexer was smitten by his casual clothes. He looked handsome in his black leather jacket, snow white shirt and black jeans. Akirexer stared at his clean white sneakers as he slowly walked towards her. He stood face to face with Akirexer. Akirexer tried her best not to blush at his breath taking eyes.
"I'm sorry for absorbing the vampire. I just couldn't resist. I haven't fed in a while now due to my busy schedule." Quix sincerely apologized.
Akirexer faced away blushing. "Like I said, you owe me a vampire." She blurted out.
"I know it's none of my business but I can't help but notice your bruises. My brother was rough on you huh?" Quix teased Akirexer.
"He let me have it big time. I only have a few hours left to feed so I have to go."
Akirexer got ready to launch up into the sky when Quix held her hand. She turned to him and this time she failed to stop herself from blushing. His hand felt strong but gentle. He looked even more enchanting with the wind blowing his golden hair.
"I thought you said that I owe you a vampire." Quix reminded Akirexer.
Akirexer pulled her hand away from him and stepped back. Keeping her eyes off him, she replied. "I sense no vampires. We have scared them off."
"I can take you to a place congested with vampires." Quix offered.
"Is this your way of asking me out to a dinner date vice commander?"
Quix opened a portal. "You can call it whatever you want." He winked at her. "Are you coming?" He asked with his hand out.
"Sure." Akirexer agreed.
