Chapter 55
Akirexer stepped found herself in the midst of at least a hundred vampires in a dimly lit bar. Unlike her usual prey, these were savage looking and fearless. They reminded her of Chisato and Nadia. The vampires growled at the sight of the darkas gods and got off their seats.
Quix didn't appear to be bothered by the nerve raking sight of the vampires. Akirexer assumed that he was used to encountering such vampires. Quix's sharp eyes scanned the entire bar as he rubbed his beardless chin. He raised his eyebrows when the vampires narrowed at them. Akirexer quickly pinned her back on Quix's and he held his hands up in surrender.
"I'm looking for Wayne. I know that he is here. I just want to talk to him." Quix spoke to the vampires.
"You must be stupid if you think that we will let you see Sir Wayne." One of the vampires stepped up. He rubbed a sharp knife on his billy goat beard.
"Akirexer stay calm and wait for my queue." Quix quietly said to Akirexer. Turning back to the vampires, he continued. "I just want to talk to him."
"Get out before we make you regret coming here." The very vampire threatened.
"I can see that I have no choice." Quix dropped his head and grinned.
Quix kicked the table in front of him and it broke in half. Upon seeing this, the vampires charged at Quix and Akirexer. They fought back and absorbed every vampire they made contact with. Chairs and tables flew across the room and broke to pieces against the walls. The sound of men shouting and bottles breaking could be heard.
Behind a closed door sat Sir Wayne with his legs crossed on his desk. He quietly turned a page of his novel and continued to read as though nothing serious was happening. A goth Asian vampire sat on his desk and blew on her freshly painted black nails. A mask of a panther hang on her chest. On her naked laps was a black kitten. One of her long legs was completely covered in tattoos.
"Wayne-sama, at this rate, those darkas gods will be in here. We should get out of here or you will be late for the meeting with the Great One. You know know how she gets when she is kept waiting." She said with an American accent.
"You are right Hinata." Sir Wayne got up and put his novel in his shirt pocket. Hinata cheerfully clapped her hands as she bounced her breasts up and down. She picked her katana up and jumped off the table.
Quix burst his way to Sir Wayne's door and kicked it open. A look of defeat dawned on him and he face palmed. Akirexer joined him and was bewildered by the huge hole before them.
"I'm too late. He is gone." Quix voiced out his thoughts.
"The Wayne guy? What's so special about him?" Akirexer asked him.
"He is the second strongest of the Day Walkers. He ranks the letter B." Quix simply explained. Meeting his gaze with Akirexer, his straight face turned into a flirtatious smile. "Anyway enough about that. I believe that I have paid you back."
"Oh you have. The gamarax I got from just four of those vampires would have taken me the whole night to hunt. I don't even know how many I absorbed! I feel so charged that I wonder if I will be able to sleep tonight." Akirexer excitedly answered.
Quix stretched his lips upwards and nodded his head. "That sounds tempting." His flirty and husky voice sounded.
"What do you mean?" Akirexer pretended as though she didn't know that he was flirting with her.
Sensing her palpable pretense, Quix opted to say, "Never mind that, Akirexer. I should be returning to the base. I suggest you go and try to get some rest for your training tomorrow."
"I can't argue with that." Akirexer agreed and opened a portal. She took one long last look at Quix. "I guess I'll see you around." She smiled and got into the portal with it closing behind her.
Quix let out a sigh of agony. "You have never been good with the ladies Quix." He muttered to himself.
Quix got out of the destroyed office and made his way back to the bar. The floor was filled with broken glass, furniture and vampire dust. Quix caught sight of a sparkling object in the dust. His curiosity got the best out of him and he went to pick it up. A grin found its way when he recognized the object.
"Akirexer's hair pin." He said aloud.

Rose sat on her couch watching TV with her son Mason. The both of them burst out laughing at a humorous comment they heard and couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces as they continued to watch. Rose heard the sound of her microwave beep and she slowly got up. She took out the popcorn and poured them into a bowl.
"Mummy, someone is at the door!" Mason yelled after Rose.
Rose gave him the popcorn and reluctantly went to open the door fully wondering who was visiting them. She took a look at her wall clock and saw that it was 21:00hrs. Rose peeped through her curtains and was stunned to see Akirexer. Akirexer casually waved at her and Rose gave her an assuring smile. Rose opened her door for Akirexer. She proceeded to cautiously look left and right.
"Relax Rose. I didn't open a portal here." Akirexer addressed Rose's unvoiced concern.
"Come in quick." Rose opened the door wide enough and Akirexer walked past her.
Wasting no time, Akirexer sat right next to Mason. "Hi there little man." She greeted him as she rubbed his head.
Mason gasped and hugged Akirexer. "Aunt Whitney! It's so nice to see you. I thought you were dead."
Rose blushed in embarrassment. "Mason, that isn't how you talk to people." She sternly scolded him and Mason pouted.
"Don't scold him Rose. He is only voicing out his thoughts. What he said wasn't inappropriate." Akirexer defended Mason and he smiled brightly again.
Gazing into Mason's young and innocent eyes, Akirexer said. "I am alive and well as you can see."
"I prayed that you were. I even drew pictures of you so that I would show you when you came back. May I please bring them to you?" Mason asked excitedly.
"By all means do." Akirexer replied to his delight.
Mason ran up the stairs much to Rose's dismay. Akirexer giggled at the frustration on Rose's facial expression. Rose caught herself glaring at the stairs and chuckled. She turned her attention to Akirexer and was stunned by her beer stained red crop top and dusty skinny jeans.
"Whitney you are a mess, what happened to you?" Rose asked and continued her examination of Akirexer's appearance.
Akirexer looked at herself and dusted her crop top with her hands. "This is the result of my training and hunting spree." Akirexer tucked her hair back and noticed that her hair pin was missing. "Damn it, it looks like I dropped my hairpin. That was my last good hairpin. Training tomorrow will be a little difficult with all this hair getting in my face."
"Perhaps it came off as you were training." Rose suggested but Whitney shook her head with a straight face.
"I had it on me when I left the house. I remember because I fastened it to my hair before leaving because it was loose. I am pretty sure I dropped it in that vampire bar Quix took me to." Akirexer thoughtfully said.
Rose narrowed her eyes suspiciously at Akirexer. "Who is Quix?" She asked.
"He is a vice commander in Queen Sharaina's army." Akirexer quickly answered with no emotion.
"Is he your boyfriend?" Rose blushed as she asked.
Akirexer looked at her in disbelief. "Are you kidding me? Where did that come from?"
Rose took a breath in and fiddled with her fingers. "Well he took you to feed on vampires. That sounds like a dinner date for darkas gods."
Rose pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose in discomfort. She desperately tried her best not to let her jealousy show. Akirexer raised one eyebrow at her in amazement.
"Well, that should explain why he was flirting with me." Akirexer's words made Rose frown.
"He was flirting with you? So you were on a date!" Rose abruptly stood up. She felt herself fuming with jealousy in the inside.
"Um it wasn't a date Rose. He owed me a vampire and he paid me back. That's all there is to it. Quix is cute and all..."
"He is cute?" Rose didn't hear herself whimper.
Akirexer rubbed her chin and leaned back. "No he isn't cute. Cute is the wrong word. He is gorgeous. Oh my goodness Rose you should see him."
Rose's heart sank and she slowly rubbed her hand. "You must like him very much then."
Akirexer chuckled softly at Rose's remark. "Well he is an interesting guy but I wouldn't say that I'm falling for him. I will admit that I'm attracted to him sexually but I have a lot of things to deal with right now so dating is off the table."
Phew! Rose internally celebrated.
"Perhaps one day after the war is over, he and I will start something new. Who knows?" Akirexer cheerfully said to Rose.
"Oh." Was all Rose would say. Now I'm starting to wish the war doesn't come to an end.
"Enough about me and my none existent love life. Are you seeing anyone. It has been four years since your divorce."
Rose calmly sat back down and picked the bowl of popcorn off the table. "I don't have a boyfriend." She uttered in between her chewing.
"No girlfriend either?" Akirexer asked Rose and she choked on her popcorn.
"G-girlfriend?" Rose stammered and felt her heart racing.
"Come on now Rose, we both know that you are bisexual. I knew this since we were kids. There's no point in hiding it from me."
Rose quickly got up again nearly spilling her popcorn. "You are mistaken." She blurted out.
Akirexer furrowed at Rose. "Okay, I'm sorry I thought so." She apologized.
Mason came running down the stairs with a pile of crayon drawings and the puppy barking playfully behind him. Akirexer squealed at it and it ran into her arms.
"You rescued it?" She happily asked Rose.
Rose smiled faintly at her. She was still feeling out of place due to Akirexer's remarks. "How could I have not? You held onto it that night."
"That was so nice of you." Akirexer laughed as she welcomed the licks on her face.
Mason heaped his drawings on Akirexer's laps and waited anxiously for her to go through them. Rose took this opportunity to escape to the kitchen. She stood at her sink feeling so angry with herself that she felt suffocated.
Why didn't I tell her the truth? I had the perfect chance but I couldn't do it. I am such an idiot.
Rose's thoughts were cut off by the sudden ring of her phone. She saw that Steve was calling and picked up.
'Hello, Rose? One of your pictures got mixed up with ours and Asher is very jealous about it.' Steve's voice sounded through the phone.
"What a nice way to start your honeymoon, Stevie." Rose teased and Steve laughed. "I would offer to come and pick it up but we both know that it will only piss Asher off even more."
'I will send it to your house.' Steve cheerfully offered.
"Okay I will be expecting it." Rose wiped a tear of frustration off her face.
'Goodnight'. Steve hang up.
Rose peeped at Akirexer merrily chatting with Mason as she marveled at his drawings. Rose admired how beautiful Akirexer looked when she was smiling happily. For a moment she felt jealous that Mason and a puppy made her smile brightly.
"Will I ever be able to confess my feelings to you, my love?" She painfully wondered.
