SORA

I look at Kane to notice he is very pale, trying to sit up straight as Lucas keeps him steady.

I watch the pack doctor grab something in a needle and inject him with it, in an area that is glowing purple..

His veins are glowing, what happened to him? This is all too much to wrap my head around.

"Someone tell me what is going on! Lucas!" I cry out watching the scene unfold in front of me.

Lucas looks at me exhaustion written on his face. "We got ambushed" His voice hardens, his eyes glowing red like normal wolves' eyes do. "We need to get you someplace safe, the Alpha would want this." He says and I'm crying louder now. He nods to one of the pack warriors who escorted me out of the room.

"By who? Please stop!.. don't touch me Lucas!... KANE!" I cry desperately my eyes never leaving Kane's closed ones. He passed out from whatever the healer injected him with and she's abstracting the glowing purple substance from his veins, could it be poison?

"I'm so sorry Sora, he's alive.. you cant see this, he wouldn't want you to see this." Lucas's worried voice rushes out as I'm being dragged out.

I'm kicking and screaming for Kane but my voice is going to deaf ears as they all avoid my gaze with regret written on their faces.

No..!

As I am being carried out of the house I hear it. And I know it will haunt me.

The sound of my big bad Alpha mate yelling out trying to hide the pain, the man who promised me there was nothing bad ever going to happen to him every time he left for pack duties.

The man who promised he would come home safe.

What the fuck happened to you Kane...

The next day

"Sora?" Lex's voice startles me as I was glancing out the window, lost in my thoughts.

"Lex? Is he ok? Is he awake? Can I see him!" I rush out, almost begging him.

I haven't slept all night, I couldn't.

He chucks and brings me in for a hug. I relax a little. "He's fine, really pissed off but he will be fine." He says rolling his eyes. "He's more hurt by what he said to you than being stabbed by a shifter." His amused laugh booms out.

I frown and push Lex away. "This is not funny Lex! He could have died, no one was telling me anything!" I yell out pissed, glaring at him.

His face looks guilty then relaxes. "I'm sorry Sora, he sent me to take you to him, but really he is fine, he cannot die that easy. The poison just stunned him and pissed him off, making his wolf seem out of control as you put it." He says.

"What about the blood? Whose blood was it?" I ask, not sure I will like the answer.

He growls out as he glares daggers at nothing. "The filthy shifters, the Alpha did worse to them than what they did to him."

I swallow hard. "What did he do?" I ask as we drive to the pack clinic.

Lex's eyes were hard. "Ripped every single limb off from their body, before the poison took over, he managed to kill them all before he was stunned, unable to move."

All of them? How many are we talking about here?

I stare at him horrified. "How many were there? "I ask.

"At least a dozen." He says quietly.

A DOZEN?!

I'm getting incredibly pissed off by everything he has told me so far. "Where were you?" I ask quietly, anger in my voice. "Why weren't you there TO PROTECT HIM?" I yell at his face, not caring who hears me.

"Luna.. it was an ambush, none of us knew until we got there." He states. "The whole thing lasted minutes, when we got there he slaughtered them all. It was a bloodbath... none of the blood was his, he killed over 30 shifters in minutes.." He says and I'm horrified.

How is that possible. "But he was alone! That doesn't make sense.." I mutter to myself, not believing what I'm hearing. He should be dead going against that many shifters.

My stomach drops in dread at the thought of losing him.

"We don't know how.. he is shrugging it off as nothing happened." Lex grimaces. "But Sora, something is wrong, there is something he is not telling us." He says quietly as he parks the car, we arrived at the pack clinic, and it's quiet.

"Go, he only wants to see you." Lex says and I nod.

"Thank you.. and sorry for snapping at you.. I.. I will speak to you later?" I ask him, slightly embarrassed at how I raised my voice.

He nods and smiles warmly at me then messes up my hair. "He's waiting for you. Try not to strangle him, he is feeling sorry for himself from the way you saw him last night." He says shaking his head, slightly amused.

I nod feeling slightly better talking to Lex. Knowing Kane would be alright if Lex said so. I still feel really scared to see him. Last night he looked lethal and ready to hurt me if I wouldn't listen to his order to leave.

I snort at the thought of me defying him.

That was a first for me. I smile at how far I've come since meeting him.

I sigh and walk through the building, ready to see my invincible Alpha mate who is literally the most fearless, reckless, and stubborn man I know.

Let's just hope I don't strangle him for being those things.

Cause so help me god if it's not tempting.
