For your own good
Alpha Magnus stood up, while Gusev stretched his arms up “Alright, it was such a fun experience, seeing how the famous Alpha Ace, the most heartless alpha I know, is bowing and heads in love with a woman.”
Alpha Magnus then turned to me, “You’re a lovely girl with a gentle heart. I do not know why the moon goddess chose you as his mate but seems that there must always be a good reason behind it. I can see how he is madly possessive of you.” He said, “And if you can, I hope you can change his heart. We need men for this war, I hope you can convince him to help us.”
I blinked, wanting to ask more but Gusev was whispering to me, “You can always call me if you need help, sweet angel.”
“Goodbye Love birds!” they waved at us before walking away.
Alpha Ace then grabbed my hands and kissed my shoulders.
I turned to him, “Are you busy today?”
He shook his head, “No.”
“Do you have any plans for anything?” I asked and he also shook his head in answer.
I sighed, and remembering Alpha Magnus's words, I brought up, “Then how about helping them to win the war?” As soon as I suggested that, his expression turned sour.
“Seems that Alpha Magnus whispered that to you. But no one can change my mind now, not even you.”
I raised my eyebrows, “How about your heart? Can I change that?”
I do not know how exactly I muster all this courage and act like a brave lioness in font of Alpha Ace like this.
Seems that words are just running out of my mind now without much thinking, and Alpha Ace is not minding it.
“How exactly? By going to bed with me?” He suggested and I rolled my eyes.
“Come on, haven’t you had enough last night?”
“We werewolves tend to not get satisfied with just a night. We breed for weeks, Kira. Haven’t your heard how one of us died because of overbreeding?” He said and I gulped.
Damn. This is crazy to even think about. How they got all this stamina?
“That's how passionate we are. And soon once I am in heat, you won’t be able to escape my sight. We’ll do it day and night so it’s better to get you prepared now.” He said, holding my stomach now, “And you’ll be ready to bear my heir.” I paused at that, not sure how I could respond to that.
Well, I am still young, plus I am scared of being pregnant. It’s too risky. I know mothers die while they go into labor.
Having another life in your stomach feels weird. How you are responsible for it. How one mistake could lead to its death.
Alpha Magnus gently grabbed my cheeks and made me look at him, “You know that I could hear your thoughts right? Relax, I won’t rush you. I’ll prepare your body first.”
I cleared my throat, wanting to divert his attention, “Won’t you have other things to do today?”
He shrugged, “None that need immediate attention.”
I blinked, “Aren’t you the alpha? And alphas are the leaders, right? So it must be natural that you should have lots of things to do.”
He chuckled at that and patted my head, “I love your innocence, Kira. But no, I don’t think I have much work to do here other than to breathe and fight off anyone who dares to harm any members of my pack.”
“I believe I have the most workload here,” another voice popped out of nowhere. We both looked behind us to see that the door opened and Beta Mark was there. “Alpha, we need you to attend the”
Mark wasn’t able to finish his sentence as Alpha Ace rolled his eyes, pushing him away, “Can’t you knock before entering? we were in the middle of something here.”
Mark sighed, glancing at me and giving me a look. I shrugged.
“Well, alpha, I have been mind-linking you for the past few minutes but since I didn’t receive any response, I assumed you were purposely avoiding any job to do.”
I laughed at that, seeing the busted look on Alpha Ace and he then glared at Mark, “Fine, I’ll go to my study later.”
Mark nodded, looking at me, “Please hit him for me, Luna, if ever he forgets to go there.”
I nodded, “Alright, I’ll do as you wish, Mark.” Really, out of everyone here, it was Mark who didn’t have it easy. He’s full of work to do. I think I have never seen him have a free day in my whole stay here...
well, that is something because I am 95 percent in my room the whole duration. 4 percent is in Alpha Ace’s room and 1 percent outside.
I shook my head at the mental calculations.
As soon as Mark walked out, Alpha Ace gently caressed my shoulders as he massaged my hair, and then his hands lowered to my chest. I insanity grabbed his hand before it would lead to the places that it shouldn't be.
He cleared his throat, “Oh, I remember something I have been meaning to ask you.”
I nodded, urging him to continue, “What is it?”
“That time when Gusev almost attacked you…you fainted…” He started, “and then fire appeared.”
I blinked, “What? I do not know what you are saying…” I only knew that I fainted…and some smell of smoke…
“There was fire, Kira. The whole forest burned the moment you fell on my hands.” He said, “And I knew that was not just a coincidence.”
I gulped, not understanding what he is meaning to.
His eyes stared at me for a minute, waiting for my response and I just looked at him blankly, not knowing how to respond.
It’s not like I burned that whole forest. For all, I know someone just lit up a fire there and the trees only caught it because of the wind.
”And? What are implying, Ace?" I asked, "It's not like I have the magic or spell to make that burn...right?"
He looked me straight in the eye as if he knew something I didn't but he was keeping it to himself.
"Right, Alpha Ace?" I asked, trying to get his attention. He seemed to get into a trance
“We have to get you checked. You produced fire.”
"You must be imagining things. I'm only a human." I stood up, dismissing it, "And don't forget about your beta, he's waiting at your study."
He nodded, standing up and leaving me alone quietly. I then wanted to walk and go to my room outside when I spotted Beta Mark himself standing at the door as if waiting for someone.
I blinked, "What are you doing here? I thought you were waiting for your alpha?"
"Do you trust me?" He suddenly asked, looking left and around in panic.
I paused for a second, glancing around us to check what he was afraid of, and nodded hesitantly, "Yes?"
Both he and his alpha seems to be acting so odd today and it's itching me to know.
"Do you love the alpha?" He suddenly dropped a question that took me by surprise.
"Mark, come on, why are you asking me-
"Tell me, Kira, we don't have much time now-"
"What time? come on, just tell me so I could know it!"
"Just answer me if you love him?" He still pressed the question, as if it were the most important thing right now in this world.
"I don't know!" Why is he even pressuring me to answer a such sensitive question to me?
He nodded, "Good, you're still unsure....because right now, I'll let you leave."
I processed his words for a minute and narrowed my eyes at him, "Mark, stop making fun of-"
"Tonight. At the back gate. Meet me there and take your aunt with you." He said straightforwardly.
"Why? Goodness, just tell me the reason."
"Just know that I'm on your side and this is for your own good. We don't have time." He then ran off back in the direction of the alpha's study.
