Death Sentence
We were walking in silence as he pushed me, “Let’s go to the dining hall. I heard you humans are too fragile you need to eat three meals a day.”
I nodded, “Yup, except we don’t need much meat. I’m happy with some vegetables too.”
I ignored the ugly look on his face as I tried to look around. Since Alpha Ace left me here, there were more than women around here….which makes me to the conclusion that he brought with him most of his men.
However, there’s something that’s been bothering me. I know that Alpha Ace had already threatened anyone who dare to put their arm on my throat….
I couldn’t help but see how the stares I got were normal and expected given that I am the alpha’s mate and I seldom get here cause I only got my past meals from Mark or Ace.
Oh, speaking of Beta Mark. That damn fool and the only friend I made here before he betrayed me…where the hell is he?
Yes, he was that bad but I kind of miss him. Talking to him gave me some kind of comfort.
But then again, if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have attempted to escape that night. I wouldn't even take my aunt with me and we wouldn’t have been haunted by the Red Crows and my aunt wouldn’t have shifted and tried o hurt me.
If it weren’t for Mark, then my aunt must have been still alive.
I’ve suddenly filled with sad thoughts again, except for this large muscular man snapping his fingers at me to get my attention and pointing at the food choices.
“What do you want to eat?” He asked.
I raised an eyebrow at him, “Is this your first time dealing with a human?”
“Unless you are counting the humans I killed in the past, yes.”
Ugh, this man is so brutal. Gosh, why do I have to put up with him? We only had been together for a few minutes and I feel so drained.
“Can I visit Beta Mark?”
“Stop calling him Beta, he is not the beta anymore. He is going to be replaced by someone better than him.”
I raised my eyebrows at that, someone better than Mark? And who might that lucky fellow be? I am not that familiar with their rules here but I know Ace would choose the second-best of fighter here. He trains his subordinates. Of course, he must have seen each of his pack members progress for him to choose wisely.
But it might be too soon for me to judge given that I also haven’t seen everyone training so I do not have anyone in mind that would be suitable for the position of beta.
“And who might that be? You? The new beta?” I chuckled at the thought, to which he glared at me. I must have struck a nerve in him for him to have that sour expression on his face. His beard made him look like Santa Claus and I almost laughed.
“When did we become friends for you to ask me any questions?” He asked.
I stood firm, wanting to seem tall and look intimidating but damn my height for making me look like a midget to almost anyone here. He’s a whole foot taller than me, towing over my dwarf height.
“I’m asking as your future Luna.” I firmly said, and it was his turn to snort.
“Future Luna? Someone as weak as you?” There was a mocking tone in the way he said that., eyes looking at me up and down. “Look at these frail hands. A luna has a great physique and super strength, not some weakling human.”
“You do know you get on my nerves?” I asked, grabbing a food tray as we went closer to the meals I grabbed some eggs, a hotdog, and a pancake. I glanced at the lady watching the food and smiled at her, and she just rolled her eyes at me.
Damn. Looks like the women here don’t just hide their hatred from me anymore. They blatantly inform me how they hate my presence here.
well, too bad for her. I know Ace himself specifically asked a small section of the cooks to personally watch over my food, and they don’t have a choice but to obey it.
“Yes, same as you. But you are stuck to me now as I am to you. Now stay quiet so we can survive this until the alpha returns.”
He made me sit at a table and just watched me as I eat, which was a bit awkward and I couldn’t chew my food properly.
“You know I couldn’t eat my food properly if you continue staring at me,” I muttered and he just gruffed before turning away.
I smirked, “How about giving me some of my personal space? Leave me. Who said that you have to put up with me? You can just go fuck off and I will go do my own business.” And besides, it’s only a few hours that passed. Ace and his group must have not reached that far….I know I could still catch up to them if I escape now.
“No. Alpha strictly ordered it.”
I rolled my eyes, “Psh, what a coward. Bravely speaking insults to me when your alpha’s away yet cowered in fear from his orders with that large build. Who’s the weak one here?” I sighed, “I’m not surprised why no one even befriends you.”
He instantly grabbed my cheeks as he gave his threat to me, “I know your tricks human. I won’t leave you alone. Not without them glaring at you as if they’d skin you alive. For now, you may hate me, but I am your only ally here. Did you know everyone hates you here? They hate you for taking their handsome alpha.”
I wouldn’t have to be a genius to know that. I pushed his hand away as I drank a glass of water. “I know.”
I suddenly glanced at his hands, which I just noticed locked with a chain. I furrowed my eyebrows, “What is that? I thought I am the one being captured here?”
He tried to brush it away, “I am a criminal. I killed my fellow member that’s why I am on lock.”
I blinked, he did what? Then why the heck is he staying here beside me? As much as I wanted to panic, an evil thought came to my head, “How many years have you been with that?”
“twenty years.” e replied Well, he won’t seem that old. He looked like he would be around his late thirties in the human world but since this is the werewolf world, their age is somehow different….
My hands glided on his chain, “Ooh, that must have hurt a lot. Want me to get you out of that?”
He instantly pushed my hand away, “No that's you. I deserve this. I devoted my life to serving the alpha.”
Oooh, he must have regretted his actions for him to be changing himself for the better. That’s good. He’s taking small steps at a time…even if it was twenty years ago.
“Quit thinking about escaping. Everyone hates you. No one would be willing to save you.”
Such a pussy. I smiled to myself, enough that only I could hear. I suddenly paused, realizing it.
We are the same. He doesn’t have any friends here too.
Ace must have had a reason why out of all the pack members he has, he chose the most dangerous one here.
And something tells me Ace is going to return. Like right now.
I knew I was right when I heard the horn blowing off, followed by all the pack members, even the she-wolves, simultaneously standing up in alert with their ears perked up.
"We're under attack."
"Impossible. No one dared to go against our alpha." The large guard beside me gruffed.
"they must have known the alpha is not here, and that his beta was going to be replaced." Added the she-wolf. She must be one of the warriors left as she left to investigate outside.
My heart started to beat loudly, now panicking. Damn it. To think they are in the wrong timing.
The guard beside me then cursed under his breath as he grabbed my hand, "Come on. This is not safe for you.. They must also have come to get you since you're a human."
Fuck it. They dare to mess with me again. Why is it always that whenever trouble comes, I am always dragged? They'll get hell for this!
