Parting ways
I thought about it…Well, he has a point…but then it was wrong to sneak up behind us like that!
And worse, Arya is not at all wearing any clothes! She was proudly standing there facing Gusev, and Gusev seemed to not mind at all.
I guess this was normal for them…yes, I forgot.
“Why not find someone to play with? Someone other than us?” I suggested, not wanting to deal with him now.
Arya, who looked so confused between us, cleared her throat, wanting to butt in our argument, “You two know each other?”
“Yes, and we’re very close.” Gusev answered, “I am Gusev by the way.”
Arya nodded, still wary of him as if she does not want to say her name.
However, Gusev was advanced already as he spoke up, “Yes, nice to meet you, Arya.”
Arya squinted her eyes and cocked her head to the side. “You know my name.”
Oh boy. Ace will be furious once he sees Gusev here….I have to push him away before Ace smells his scent.
“I just lived long enough to know everyone.” He answered.
She glanced at me as if she wanted me to hear her thoughts.
‘That made me wonder. How the hell did a vampire got close to a human? Vampires hunt humans, they are their predators while humans are always being hunted by them. They are prey.
Humans and vampires are never friends, to begin with.
And what’s worse, I knew he was not just any normal vampire. I’ve seen one from the time with my late father who would kill some weak normal vampires. This one is different, he could get past my incredibly sensitive nose.’
This was Arya’s thoughts, I just knew it.
And he moved so stealthily she wasn’t even able to sense him at all. I know it’s crazy how a werewolf wasn’t able to sense him coming to us.
Knowing this is quite alarming enough. He’s definitely of high caliber.
I do not know if it’s a good thing to wish that Ace or Alpha Kai would even think of coming here….just to escape this situation. Ace would be mad for sure however, I do not what’s Alpha Kai’s reaction would be. But I doubt he would gladly welcome Gusev.
“I suspect your company does not want my presence,” Gusev said, glancing at me and she scoffed at him, my nose getting itchy from smelling a vampire’s scent.
“What can you expect, I’m a werewolf, you are our enemy,” Arya stated the obvious part ever so casually.
“But I’m a traveling vampire. I side with no one.”
Arya glanced at me. Thinking how Gusev and I met for him to be able to freely talk to a human like this.
She cleared her throat, “Not even your clan?”
“If I have to…but I am protecting some alpha queen to the east.”
She swallowed hard, getting a bit excited hearing that, “Alpha Queen Kamilah?” Wow. This is the first time that I witnessed Arya get giddy and all excited like this. Is that Queen Kamilah that great to meet? I am now curious and wanted to see her too!
He nodded, pointing at her ears, “Ohh, your ears are wiggling excitedly. I guess this is a topic that you prefer to talk about?” He smirked, “Well then, I will give it to you….I might arrange for her to meet with you next time then. She’ll be happy to meet you.”
I was silently just letting them talk until I spoke up, “Who is this queen? You’re in love with her?”
This somehow caught him off guard and he tried to regain it by clearing his throat, “In the past. But these are different times. She chose her mate. Alpha Magnus.”
Alpha Magnus? Oh gosh, don’t tell me the one who Gusev was with last time?
I glanced at Arya, “I met Alpha Magnus. He seems ruthless too.”
She seemed shocked well, I am too because, at this point, I honestly do not know how many alliances the famous Lycan King Ace has among the other alphas here. He’s feared and powerful here after all.
“I didn't know about that fact, Gusev,” I complained to Gusev, not knowing how he was involved in a love triangle before. Well, we didn’t have enough time to get all personal and talk about his past last time…I am curious how he lived as a vampire…and how he was when he was first a human?
Well most of all, I have never seen him drink blood as far as I can remember. He’s a vampire who does not drink blood?
All he says is he wants my blood as it is delicious but he didn’t dare to drink it in fear of Ace…
I am curious about how he hunts his food. I want to see it personally, strangely enough. Perhaps that would be next time…
“Well, we didn’t have enough time to talk last time since your mate was practically chasing us away.”
He said, fixing his robe and sensing the air, “Anyways, I’ll be back before Ace chases me away.”
Gusev hopped off from tree branch to tree branch before he was finally gone. Arya, who was still standing nude there, had frozen up and seemed to have sensed something wrong in the air.
She instantly grabbed her clothes to the ground and wore them.
“Kira, let’s leave now.”
Wow, so soon? I didn’t even get to swim around! I pouted, not wanting to leave.
I know that I won’t get another chance like this again. Ace might decide to stay there for another day or go beyond to a much more secluded area and I won’t be able to take a bath!
I have to make the most of it!
“Oh, you can go alone. I’m fine here. I want to stay longer.” I replied to her and she blinked,
“But…no…you’re my responsibility now.”
I cracked a lopsided grin at her, knowing that she was softening up to me! “So you’ll be worried if something bad happens to me? Awe, Arya, that’s what friends do! I knew it! You like me now, just agree to be my friend!”
But Arya seemed to not look pleased with all. She had a deadpanned look on her face that says she wanted to drag me instant there and suddenly, we heard a loud firing from a distance.
Kai instantly emerged in the bushes, along with Lycan King Ace behind him.
“I sensed a vampire in this direction. Are you both alright?” Asked Ace, going in my direction instantly.
I tried to cover my body, knowing that Alpha Ace is here too and I cleared my throat, “It’s Gusev. He happened to pass by.” I replied and Ace clicked his teeth. Damn. He’s pissed.
Ace grabbed my clothes and helped me put them on while Alpha Kai and Arya seemed to be talking about something from the tree.
“You’re going to get cold if you have stayed longer there.” Ace said, pulling my shirt and I could feel my head getting airy and sleepy. Yes, after a nice bath, I just want to sleep.
“And the sound of bullets. They have come here to hunt.” Alpha Kai announced.
My heart started to beat rapidly, knowing it’s danger ahead.
Another day, another danger. Damn. Seems that trouble always finds its way to us.
I looked at him for an answer, not knowing who we were referring to. “Who?”
“Fowlers.” She simply answered. But I still looked confused.
“Human hunters.” She started to explain, “The main reason why we hate humans. They hunt us and sell us.”
I…didn’t know that!
I swear the look of shock on my face is too obvious now.
How come my kind has been so cruel like that?
Another one fired and with ears perked up and we were instantly in a defensive stance. Ace pulled me behind him while I could see Alpha Kai going to her side instinctively.
To think they just recovered from Alpha Elija’s Red Crows the last few days ago.
A few of Ace’s men came to him, “Alpha, it’s them…the fowlers.” They confirmed the report.
Alpha Ace’s member then whispered something into his ear which made Alpha Ace’s expression turn darker. He instantly grabbed Kai by the neck, “You bastard!”
I instantly got in between them, wondering what is happening to Alpha Ace to attack his friend like that. Weren’t they just fine a moment ago?
