Own Kin
My mouth formed a tight line, and I was about to scream again when he was fast enough to put his hands on my lips again, “Stop screaming bitch! You’re alerting them! Want us to never be able to escape here?”
I shook at the thought and pulled my lips in a tight line.
“Good, now watch your mouth! Be calm!” He ordered firmly.
“Why the hell am I in this cage with you? Why the hell do these chains hurt? And where are they taking us?” I asked in fear, now calming down.
He shook his head, wanting to facepalm as he know this is the worst possible scenario.
“Atleast they should have chosen the perfect werewolf to get here, not this weak human beside me! What could she do when I try to initiate my escape plan? She’s just bitching around! An overreacting woman. This is not good.”
He didn’t say that, but I know damn well that he was thinking about that.
“You remember what happened that night?” He asked.
Through the darkness, my expression suddenly changed into disbelief, “What night? Are you suggesting something happened to us? Ew, take me back to Ace!”
He gritted his teeth, the moon goddess is just testing his patience now. He looked like he wanted to hit me so I could pass out but he seemed too concerned about Ace who might see the mark on my face, so he was trying hard to muster up his patience.
“Stupid, nothing happened. I am talking about last night when you are attacked by the fowlers. Tell me everything and do not leave anything out.” He firmly said. I nodded, now trying to recollect my memories. Oh right, thank goodness, I was able to remember them.
I breathed deeply, “The last thing I could remember was waking up in a tree with Gusev when one fowler, a man came in with a radio and a bow and arrow and hit Ace. Ace wasn’t able to dodge it since no one of us sensed them. That arrow seemed to have poison, I saw how my mate was moving slowly, his senses were dulled. The man’s radio seemed to be playing something that weakened Gusev, and while Arya was helping Ace, a woman came in and got me. Then I felt them putting a handkerchief filled with an awful scent…and I blacked out…”
He nodded, seemingly absorbing everything, and was quiet.
“So? What are you doing?” I asked curiously.
“I’m going to form a plan. We are still being transported so we might not be that far from them.” He responded calmly, “Do you remember their faces?”
I tried to think about it but then shook my head no. “I think it was too dark for me. And their faces were covered with a mask.”
He gnawed on his teeth and mumbled a curse to himself.
“Mind linking your mate.” He ordered me and I nodded. Then I paused, why is he giving me orders? Only Ace could give me one!
“Who are you to order me what to do,” I said to him and he cocked his head to the side.
“Do as I say or get locked here forever.”
I gulped, he didn’t have to tell me that twice as I do as he said. I tried to mind link Ace, but I could not feel his presence.
No, I could feel him in pain.
Goodness, that arrow must have still been hurting him. This is no good. I hope Arya treated him first. Knowing him, he would rather barge in and rescue me than save himself.
I saw Alpha Kai being silent to himself again, thinking deeply.
I want him to include me in his plan too! I may be too weak but I can put up a fight, or an act if he wanted me to!
“So? What are you planning?” I asked him again and I swear I could see his eyes change into a deadly expression, clearly irritated by me as he clenched his jaw.
“I’m planning how to kill you if you don’t stop stepping on my nerve, woman.”
I giggled, clearly not feeling threatened or scared by his threats, “Ah, I can see it now. How Arya hates you, I can see the short temper redness.”
That made him pause, “She…told you that?”
I nodded, seeing how he got instantly hooked when it comes to his mate.
I did not see him openly saying how he loves Arya, or showing us how he cares for Arya so I think I should test him now.
“Yes, and how selfish, arrogant damn bastard you are.” He rolled his eyes, his hands were clenched now and I knew he would punch me so I started flashing him a peace sign and chuckled, “Just kidding, she didn’t say that.”
He leaned in and grabbed my head, “I swear, one wrong move and I won’t hesitate to smash your little head in these iron bars.”
“Damn this, I feel like I am babysitting a puppy! How the hell did Ace manage to endure this woman? I wonder how he managed to stay alive just from hearing this annoying innocent squeaky voice. It haunts me. And being held captive seems normal to her if she experienced this before she’s not even feeling scared. She seems laid back and has already accepted her fate. I swear, once we get out of here, I would ask Ace to replace this damn mate.”
He did not say that, but looking at his hard expression, I could see he was thinking murderous thoughts about me.
No one must have pulled a nerve to him this far that he would nearly flip out…I guess I pushed him too much, I have to retract now and calm things down.
Stay in survival mode, Kira. I said to myself. I forgot how fragile of a human I am and being locked in here with a strong alpha does not help at all, despite him being Arya’s mate.
“Alright, I will stop messing with you now,” I mumbled.
One more wrong move and I might not make it out alive here. I do not know what I should be scared of. To the fowlers, my fellow humans who captured me, or the fact that I am in this one cage with Alpha Kai whose hands are ten times stronger than I’ll ever be.
Whatever my future is, I am scared for my whole life right now and also worried for Ace.
I want him to save me, but at the same time want him to stay and heal himself first.
