Return home
I clicked my tongue, “Don’t get the wrong idea. I am the one who hated you the most. Even seeing you now reminds me of my dead aunt.” I sighed, feeling a bit better about how I could let this out now.
Memories came flashing back to me as I saw Mark standing there like that, clenching his jaw as if preventing himself from letting out an emotion.
But I could see the sadness in his eyes, as he avoided eye contact. “I apologize.”
“It’s fine, it is not like your apology will return her back to life,” I said, and realizing I might have snapped at him a bit, I cleared my throat. “Anyway, what do you feel now that Ace is wanting to take you back as his beta?” I asked, even though Ace did not fully announce it, I know he was planning about it soon.
He looked like he still didn’t know of it and I might have just ruined the surprise. “I feel honored and undeserving of this second chance.”
“That’s why you have to work harder now. And if you still feel undeserving, I give you the option to run and never appear before us again.”
He nodded. “I won’t fail you.”
Oh, I have to say I am getting better at giving advice now. I think I had grown a bit more mature now in handling situations like this.
It is nice to know that I could talk to him like this. I hope he would return to his usual energetic and goofy self soon. I guess I’ll have to help him with that.
He was about to walk away now but I stopped him.
“And Mark?”
He turned around, raising his eyebrows, “Yes?”
“I hope you find your mate soon. Sincerely.”
His eyes gulped, nodding, “I hope so too.”
I returned to Ace who was frowning at me, seemingly And instantly knowing that I talked with Mark.
His head cocked to the side, “You talked with Mark?”
I nodded, not bothering to deny it. “Yes. Anyway, are you giving him a chance as your beta again?”
He clicked his tongue, but slowly nodded, “I was..thinking about that.”
I didn’t bother to hide the smile on my face, “Then what about your current beta Igness?”
“I think he still needs some training.” He answered, “After all, my luna kept on pushing that Mark it is.”
“Luna? Stop calling me that. You didn’t even make a formal ceremony or something.” I rolled my eyes at him. It’s like a couple only living together because they have to, not because they chose to. Like we are living in and not married.
“Soon. When we return.”
I instantly gasped, no way, that soon? “Hey Ace, I was only kidding.”
“Why do we even have to waste more time? We both know you and I are looking forward to it.”
At that moment, I just want to kiss him, and so I did.
I feel like really letting him in my heart. And I know this is a dangerous move to do. But to hell with it.
Ace had managed to invade a large space in my heart that I feel has spread all over my body.
After that talk with him, it was almost night and Alpha Kamilah returned with Alpha Magnus her mate, together with Arya who was walking hand in hand with Alpha Kai.
Oh…did I miss something?
But I am glad everything is fine now.
Arya decided to pull me aside and revealed to me what happened back there. I squealed in excitement knowing she was now doing good with Alpha Kai.
They happened to have visited the elder for some advice thing.
But I am just surprised by one thing.
Both of them are pregnant!
I feel excited now. I consider Arya my friend, and I want her to be happy. I hope that the pups would be a bridge for them to be sweeter and get along better.
That night, Arya and Alpha Kai said their goodbyes to us, leaving me and Ace and Mark, and Maximus here.
As for Gusev, he seemed to be missing. I didn't saw him since that body shot so he must have wandered off on his own again
“So when are you going to leave?” Alpha Magnus asked us, “You seem to be overstaying now.”
He then chuckled, “And where the hell is Gusev? I was planning to have Gusev suck Kira’s blood.”
I froze at that, sensing Ace’s anger beside me. “Try to do that and we’ll see what happens to you, Magnus.”
I knew that Magnus was just trying to make the mood lighter but Ace seems to be taking it to heart that I jumped in before it would reach a point where we fight, just like Arya and Alpha Kai.
“How about we go home now too? Your pack is waiting for you.” I suggested and Ace’s eyes looked at me hesitantly.
“Are you sure? You don’t want to stay here any longer?”
“Yes. Arya has left now, and we have finished settling our matters here, didn’t we?” I asked, finding how strange it was that we only arrived here for help and it almost turned into a vacation.
Ace instantly understood me and stood up, “Well then, we must leave.”
“Call Mark and some of my pack members.” He ordered but I shook my head.
“Why not me? You can mind link them.” I said, “Unless you are shy to face Mark?”
I knew how he was kind of avoiding Mark since we returned her after the capture from the fowlers, and I feel that he deeply regrets how he acted toward his beta.
And knowing Ace, he was too prideful to even show me this.
He then mind linked them and a few minutes passed and everyone lined up in front of us.
Mark was leading them, Maximus was behind them, making sure no one was behind and Ace was saying his thanks to Alpha Magnus.
“We’ll leave now, just as you wanted,” Ace said to his Alpha friend.
“Ah, thank goodness. You are being a bother here.” Alpha Magnus said jokingly.
I glanced at Alpha Kamilah who was smiling at me.
I smiled back, “Thank you for letting us stay here.”
She nodded, “You are free here, and expect that we might visit you soon.”
“Then I’ll be expecting to see your pups soon. We’ll welcome you if you visit.” I smiled, glancing at her bulging belly and she waved.
Ace’s hands snaked around me as he guided me to the exit of the packhouse and it didn’t take long for us to reach the woods.
The remaining pack members who seemed to disappear from our fight last fowlers attack are now guarding us tightly, well me specifically. They were in their werewolf form, all walking in a line simultaneously.
