VIP
The moment I reached the apartment it was already midnight, I immediately took a half bath and went to bed, however before my eyes closed I couldn't help but think of Hade. I hope everything will turn out well tomorrow.
I immediately opened my eyes upon hearing the landlady yelling my name once again, "Shit! This isn't good."
Why did I ever forget asking Hade about the money? Ugh, I haven't even started my job yet and now I asked for money. I sighed as I immediately got up, changed my clothes and took my bag, then, I used the window to escape. I did not think of anywhere else as I headed to the hospital, I had to see my father.
I hope he is okay, suddenly, Hade popped on my head. Will I really give myself to him? Shit, I have no other choice because I have to since I have already signed the contract and there is no backing out now.
When I reached the hospital I walked faster towards my father's room but when I opened the door, it was empty. I mean I could see a boy nurse fixing the empty bed, it was heartbreaking, as if my heart turned into pieces for a moment. My father is gone, "W-where did he go?" Out of myself, I said.
The nurse turned to look at me with a sympathetic face. "I'm sorry, ma'am." He said. "H-he died earlier."
It was as if my world went down, my tears started pouring out of my eyes as I walked out of the room.
I felt out of myself, it seemed like my mind turned blank. I took a seat on the bench outside the room and stared at the wall as I reminisced all the memories I had with dad.
I don't think I could accept it, I am not yet ready to lose a father, not yet, I haven't paid all his sacrifices for me.
After some time of crying I decided to stand up, I have to find my father. If he is dead, he might be at the morgue... wait, I have to find Sheina first, I have to know what happened to my father. No, I have to see dad, oh shit! I am really lost.
As I was about to take a step right, I heard a voice. "Vern?"
With that, I immediately turned around and saw Sheina. Tears welled out of my eyes, tears of sadness.
Seeing my reaction she rushed towards me "What happened to you? Who hurt you?" She asked in full of worry.
I suddenly turned confused as I let out a sob, doesn't she know? Of all people, she must be the first person to know.
"What d-do you m-mean by that? Dad died and I was not even with him at his last moment, it was all my fault!" I exclaimed as I cried.
"What are you saying?" She asked questioningly. "You're father is alive."
After I heard those words it was as if a bucket of ice was thrown to me,
"W-what? B-but where is dad?" I asked as I wiped my tears.
"I was confused as well, last night it was a rush. He was immediately transferred on one of the VIP room at the top floor." After she said those words, my face lit up.
I thought it was the end of the world for me but a sudden hope rose up. There is truly one thing that makes you keep going and that is your goal... your dream and your loved ones.
"How is he?" I suddenly asked.
"He is stable but still unconscious, now having better care and probably will have a surgery soon." She answered.
But one thing bothered me, "Why did the nurse... said that the patient inside that room died?" I asked her as I pointed to the room my father used before.
"Oh, that. Last night someone was transferred into that room after your father left and unfortunately he died earlier." She said as her face held sympathy.
I took a deep breath, "Can you take me to my father?"
She looked at me with gladness, "Of course, Vern. Come,"
Sheina guided me as we used the elevator up to the top floor and we walked towards the long hallway.
"I've been so confused since last night, Vern. What happened? What did you do?" She asked and I knew what she meant by her words.
"What do you mean?" I asked as I tried to search for a good reason.
"You know what I mean, Vern. I told you not to do dangerous things, now," She stopped walking and then faced me, "Tell me, what did you do?"
I sighed, Sheina is acting like a mother again.
"Nothing, it's just that... I met a good person who helped me." I answered.
It was partly true and partly not, not true at the part of a good person, I really don't know Hade but one thing is I know. He is not good.
"Who?" She asked once again with curiosity but I just looked at her unable to answer.
After some moment, she sighed in defeat, "Remember to be careful, Vern. You are smart, don't let anyone harm you. Okay?"
I smiled. "Thank you, Shen."
"Let's go, I know you wanted to see your father after crying so much earlier." She said, barely laughing.
I laughed as well and walked with her.
This floor really is for the VIP, it seems elegant and with more technologized machines. We faced a double door room and opened it, after that, I saw my father lying on a bigger bed. The room is bigger than the room dad was using before. It has complete appliances with television and refrigerator.
"This room is good." I stated.
"It is much better than good." Sheina retaliated with a smile. "By the way Vern. Your father's bill has already been paid and all these expenses are for free. That's what the doctor told me."
For free... I know that nothing is free in this world.
"But I am telling you this once again, Vern. Don't do stupid things." Sheina added.
I'm sorry, Shen. The moment I signed the contract, I did a stupid thing already. I sighed, but, for my father I will do everything. That way, I could pay for his sacrifices.
I looked around. Well, Hade really has his word, and it was fast. I didn't realize I was smiling.
