Motive
I don’t smell any bad intent or any bad energy. Instead, he’s like a wind. This vampire must not have sensed the danger he was in.
“Are you aware of the situation you are in right now?” I asked him, motioning at Creed. I am sure that he must have still heard of Creed’s name no matter what species he came from. He’s the infamous Ravager after all.
In an instant, the wind blew past me and he was completely out of Creed’s grasp. Before I could even blink, he was already in front of me.
He sniffed me, breathing my scent deeply and he smirked, “Ahh, the exiled daughter of the Silverfang pack’s past alpha…” He mumbled.
My eyes widened, “You know me-“
The vampire put his finger on my lips to silence me, “Oh, I quite know you…your father and I have been best pals…it’s sad he has to leave…I heard a lot about you…” The way his tongue rolled as he trailed off was bothering me.
“What kind?” My mouth shouldn’t have asked that, because whatever he is planning on making me curious, it is being effective. He’s acting as if Creed beside him is invisible. The damn vampire caressed my neck and I shivered at his cold hands.
Tension lingered, but what bothered me was the look on Creed’s face. Creed’s expression was something that I never saw before… The way his eyes darkened as he glared daggers at the vampire threw me off. That look was something that I wouldn’t want to experience myself.
“Don’t. Touch. Her..” Creed mouthed every word with so much conviction. “I am warning you, filthy vampire..”
“It’s alright, I can handle him,” I assured Creed. His usual stone-cold expressionless face was filled with something I only saw now. Worried. Concerned. Creed is concerned for me for the first time. While I want to tease and make fun of him about this, now is not the proper time when he is all serious.
The vampire turned to Creed, meeting his eyes... He then shrugged, his relaxed state was irritating me. It’s like mocking us, being alll defensive. “Nah, I am not interested in males, let’s talk more, Nyra.”
The way my name came out of his mouth was very disturbing, especially when I hadn’t told him my name yet. Am I that known in their realm for him to call me like that?
“Do not utter my name with your filthy mouth.” I gritted my teeth, “Why are you even here?” Besides, I should forget the fact that he just intervened in my session with Creed, and that irks me... On top of that, his filthy vampire scent is circling the whole room.
Cred then jumped on him, attacking his neck first and the vampire seemed to not anticipate that as he yelped in pain, “Ow! Wait let me explain myself!”
“Reveal your intentions, scoundrel!” Yell Creed, “One wrong move and I’ll throw you in the pile of ashes..”
“I came here because I am interested in the Mistbane pack. I heard your uncle is the new alpha, Creed?” He speaks so casually like Creed and he is a long-time friend, “Why have you gone rogue?”
“It seems you still don’t know your place.” Creed grabbed him by the hair dragged him outside and threw him on the ground, “Reveal who sent you here.”
“I came on my own, want me to help you in your plan of overthrowing your uncle?”
I looked at Creed who didn’t seem fazed. Creed hasn’t told me about that…only a glimpse and that must be his deepest darkest secret…
It seemed this vampire was not just anyone. He may look stupid but he had run a background check on us and it’s creepy how much information he holds against us. We shouldn’t underestimate him.
He then smiled, “They are coming for you, Creed. I heard a group coming, and you better be ready.”
“I know….but I am going for them. If you work for them, tell them I am ready anytime.” Creed said proudly.
Gusev shrugged, “Oh, I don’t work for them, I only work for myself. Besides, I think you would make a great Alpha…your pack needs your help as everything is a mess there…”
What? This vampire is too confusing. I do not even know what his real intention is. I suddenly am rethinking what is the true purpose of this vampire.
If he wanted to harm us, he would have already done it. But he seems so laid back and does not even have any ill and malicious intent.
He seems to be honest and tells us the truth…
Considering that I only have a few times of interaction with vampires…well, back in my past pack, my father would take care of the infiltrators, which are mostly vampires, and burn them. He only briefed me about their nature, how to kill them, and how to capture them but I didn't think much about it. I know that he was saying these vampires are bloodthirsty bastards who would manipulate anyone and anything just to get what they want.
The vampire then fixed his robe, “Ah, I think my time here is up... I have to roam around.”
“Wait, what’s your name?” I asked the vampire.
“Secret…I’ll tell you when you reach me again…” he winked, just to add to the mystery.
“I know you, Gusev.” Creed suddenly mumbled, “I finally remembered your name…You’re the famous plotter who would take advantage of anyone.”
The vampire, which I now learn is Gusev frowned, “Ah, why spoil the mystery?”
“I’ll let you by yourselves now, thanks for the show earlier, though I think you have to mark her soon or else you’ll lose your mate. There is no use in waiting.”
“And Nyra, whatever you are planning, continue it. I know you will succeed.”
“How do you know? What makes you say that?”I am not that easy to read, right?
“If you wish to seek more, you can find me anywhere…if you desire. Come look for me in our realm.”
I knew he was enticing me with that information and wanted me to bite the bait, and now that I am, he seems to be satisfied with himself.
Damn, I still have a lot of questions for this vampire.
The vampire then paused as if remembering something, “Oh, another thing, is that cute she-wolf scouting ahead your member too?” He asked.
I blinked…she wolf? Does he mean Ravena?
“I think you need to come to her…she seems to be in trouble….see you soon!” He said, waving at us as if everything was totally fine and we weren’t at each other’s throats.
“Damn..what was that?” I asked Creed, who was silently glaring at the vampire until now.
“That bastard of scoundrel! I swear I’ll hang him and burn him alive when I manage to see him next time.” He cursed out, still angry.
“Oh..right, Ravena!” I yelled, remembering her. I know that that vampire seems to bring nothing but trouble and we shouldn’t believe what he says but I get a feeling that we need to believe him before it's too late.
“Let’s look for her...” I mumbled, and Creed nodded. We then left the farmer’s empty house and walked further to the human territory. I never did this, and I know that once we cross this, everything will be different.
