NYRA
“This is not A DATE.”
Alpha Fenris took me everywhere. The more time we spent with each other, the more my emotions were wavering. One moment, he would be gentle with me, as if I was the most delicate flower he had picked among the whole world, but then a few minutes would pass and he would return to his usual flirty self.
But I know better than to trust this man in front of me. He’s dangerous.
Far more dangerous than Ceylan.
He was laughing as he chased a bird away, and I couldn’t help but look at the direction from afar, where Ceylan’s pack was.
“Shouldn’t we head back now?” I asked hesitantly, noticing that the sun was already setting.
Alpha Fenris glanced at me, “No way, I thought you would enjoy this. Don’t you want to be away from your brother, Nyra?” He asked me as if I was the weird one.
I frowned at the word brother, “As I‘ve said, that bastard is not my brother.”
“Oops, forgive me, that was not my intention. I just keep on forgetting.” He said although I couldn’t feel any concern from his voice.
Suddenly, the air thickened. Even Alpha Fenris stopped, sensing it too. I could smell blood from nearby, and as we grew near, I couldn’t help but cover my nose from the stench. We finally reached the spot where the smell was coming from, and we were shocked when we saw a pool of blood.
But what bothered me the most was the familiar faces of wolves laying flatly on the ground, their necks bitten, some arms cut off, and some heads pulled off. It seemed that it was just recently since this happened. No one was even left alive, and I am scared of the person who dared to harm Ceylan’s pack, not because they are strong, but because of how powerful that person must be for him to pull this off.
I couldn’t help but vomit at the sight. It was the same werewolves from my father’s pack, I mean from Ceylan’s pack who tried to abuse me back when I was tortured.
I would feel happy at the sight, if not for the sickening doom I am feeling. It was like my heart was pulled down and my throat became dry. Something is amiss. As if doom was waiting for me in the far corner of my mouth, and I couldn’t do anything about it as it stared at me.
Alpha Fenris grew silent, I could feel he was tense, but his eyes seemed to be used to the sight that it was like nothing to him.
He breathed deeply and shrugged it off, turned back, and smiled at me, “I believe it's time we return to the pack.”
I silently followed Alpha Fenris, the sight from earlier still lingering in my mind. I was trying to process my thoughts while trying to be cautious around us. I would feel safe as I know Alpha Fenris is strong, but not strong enough to be up to par with that person who did that scene earlier.
“Are you hungry?” Alpha Fenris suddenly asked. “Ah, I’m growing hungry.”
“Won’t you report what happened to Ceylan?” I asked him, his easiness and carefree attitude bothering me, “I mean you two are in an alliance, of course, you would-“
“Hush now, baby. I admit Ceylan is a friend, but I am not his servant. He’s a grown werewolf, he can handle this alone.” He cut my sentence off. “Looks like the scene earlier shocked you, babe. I mean I couldn’t blame you, but trust me, you’ll be seeing a lot more than that if you are still keen on coming back to Creed.”
I just stared at him and his answer. Because an alliance is an alliance. Of course, no matter how prideful an alpha is, he would never dare to break an unbreakable bond formed with the others.
I knew he would say this, but up until now, it still baffles me how he acts. I guess I am not that surprised how his pack fell into ruin under Creed’s arm. He just..doesn’t care about anyone except himself. That’s how selfish he is. And that’s how deadly he is so I better be on good terms with him while still figuring my shit out of here.
Because we both know that I could never leave this damn place alive. And it's a fact that I had made peace with since earlier.
“If I ever get out of here alive,” I commented.
He nodded, “Good point, at least you are self-aware. Except if you finally agree to mate with me.”
I don’t understand Alpha Fenris. He could have forced himself on me just like the others when they tortured me, but he’s here playing a dangerous game of waiting with me. As if luring me in. One wrong step to him and it's a miss. It’s bothering me how incredibly good he is at pretending to be patient when I know damn well he’s painstakingly letting time pass so he would be able to play with me more.
A few minutes had gone by and I realized that it was best to keep quiet, especially when we were greeted with a deafening silence in the pack house.
A few howls and groans were heard, and I couldn’t sense the presence of Ceylan.
“Oh look, we might have missed a wonderful event here.” Alpha Fenris commented beside me as he stared at the scene with full awe.
I watched as the whole pack house was burned. A lot were lying on the ground, and only a few were still trying to fight in their werewolf form.
I gasped, not knowing what to feel about this. I should feel happy, but still, the feeling of doom felt suffocating that it was crawling in somewhere around the bushes.
“Hmm, who is that over there?” Alpha Fenris stared at the top of the pack house and I could see a strange being. No, an all too familiar view.
He was standing on the roof of the pack house, eyes dead set as the flames ignited below him, he was holding something. I squinted, as the full moon was behind him.
Creed. It was Creed. And he was alone.
I released a relieved sigh as I felt my knees buckling, dropping to the ground. So this was his doing. Burning the packhouse, sending them an array, I couldn’t even find Ceylan somewhere. The doom that I had been fearing since earlier, was him.
He came. He finally came for me! And I am pretty damn sure it was also him that was responsible for the dead werewolves earlier in the deep woods.
“Creed!” I called for him, and he turned in my direction for a moment. But then, like air, he ignored me and glared ahead of him.
“Ceylan, nice to meet you, I brought a present for you.”
My mouth fell open at the gift he was referring to. It was a she-wolf’s head, and I recognized it. It was Ceylan’s mate! He killed her!
“Looks like she won’t be able to deliver your heir.”
A loud shrieking cry was heard from where Creed was glaring.
It was Ceylan, bawling his eyes out as he gritted his teeth.
I gulped at the scene, feeling helpless. Part of me was happy that Creed was here, but part of me was scared of what beast of a monster he had unleashed with.
Oh fuck, let hell be loose.
Suddenly, I felt Alpha Fenris strong warm hands circling around my waist, “Looks like this is going to be fun, Nyra. How about we stay and watch?”
