Birds of a feather
Alpha Magnus is the funnier and livelier one. However, he becomes serious when it comes to his mate Alpha Queen Kamilah.
Among us females, the tallest was Alpha Queen Kamilah. And just merely standing there, she gives off a very commanding aura. Like one look you’ll be willing to offer your lie for her. However, despite her great leadership, she has this motherly and comforting aura that you just want to lay on her knees and say all your problems.
Kira, the only human among us, and half-witch, also the Queen of the Witch realm, was also standing out. Her delicate beauty took my breath away and my eyes were glued on her for the whole night, making her shy.
The most confident among us is Irina. She stood strong and fearless with all the battle scars on her arms. Like me, she had experienced the She had the sharpest tongue amongst us.
Now, I realize we are like peas in a pond. Birds of a feather. I feel like looking up to them with how established they are.
All of us are so different yet we share the same agony. I suddenly felt like I was not alone.
Alpha Kamilah, the most considerate, never failed to make me belong to them.
I am not the type to trust completely and that easily but with them, I finally felt comfortable with them for the rest of the night.
Creed suddenly stood up and went to me, “I’ll be showing them the area, we’ll be leaving you, girls, here.”
I nodded, “Have fun, babe.”
Alpha Kai looked at his mate Irina, “We’ll return soon, darling.”
Irina nodded, “See you later, hon.”
Kira blew a kiss to her alpha, “Return safe, okay?”
Lycan King Ace caught the kiss and winked at her, “Make sure to be ready for me when we return.”
Alpha Magnus was smirking and wiggled his eyebrows playfully, “Don’t miss me too much, sweetheart.”
Alpha Kamilah rolled her eyes, “Oh, I won’t.”
They removed their shirts in front of us and we just watched as they shifted into their wolves before racing for the woods, disappearing from our sight.
Boris decided to stay due to Creed’s instruction so he was just chatting with Beta Markus by the sides.
When we were left alone, The whole time, Alpha Kamilah was just laughing, and she suddenly turned serious..
“I had been meaning to say this for the whole night but, I want to ask how are you, Nyra?”
I blinked, “I am alright…” Why is she suddenly asking me that?
She nodded, smiling sadly.
“I could see your pain.” As if not impressing me further, Alpha Kamilah outdid it again. She’s much more sensitive and more aware of everything in her surroundings.
I couldn’t help but be quiet at her question. No one checked up on me like this before. No one asked me that question.
and suddenly, I am drawn back to my past. To my sufferings. To the trauma I endured. To the painful memory, I tried to bury six feet in the ground. From my father’s little girl to his death to being treated like a piece of shit and betrayed by my brother. To being kidnapped by Alpha Fenris, and my crazy love story with Creed.
Looking back, I didn’t realize how far I have been I have endured.
I had a sudden whiplash of realization. Of the harsh reality I had to overcome. It felt like yesterday. And I didn’t have a minute to feel my emotions.
Because every time I got hurt, I didn’t have the time to pause. It’s either pause and get killed or turn my emotions off and go on like nothing happened.
Kira and Irina suddenly got quiet. Like Alpha Kamilah, they were looking at me with concern in their eyes Worried. And not pitying me, but sad for me.
Alpha Kai seems cold and distant at first, but he is the sweetest man I could see especially when beside Irina.
“Is it alright if I can hug you?” Alpha Kamilah asked, as my tears were building up, I didn’t respond and just quickly accepted her open arms.
I let out my tears silently, and I closed my eyes. Creed must have seen me and got worried, but I don’t want to face him now. Not now when I’m this vulnerable. I do not want to make him worry. Not now when things are getting better for him.
I appreciate how Alpha Kamilah asked me this when Creed left, so I could open up. of course, no matter how close I opened up with Creed, no matter how he could feel all my emotions like we are one, I still have this silent feeling that I keep to myself.
“Are you satisfied with your life? You can talk to us, we can help you.” Kira spoke up softly.
“Was Alpha Creed mistreating you? Just tell me and I will return the favor to him.” Irina was ready to throw punches.
“Yes I am, Creed had been amazing, he was my savior from this mess. He was my labyrinth. It’s just…I wasn’t able to process my emotions before now all the trauma is coming back to me.” I spoke through Alpha Kamilah’s warm chest. Her gentle voice soothed me and her hands softly caressed my hair like a mother.
A mother I never experienced because mine had completely forgotten to do her role.
She just stayed completely still and let me cry in her arms.
“Sweetie, I am sorry for asking that, I made you cry, but I think to fully move on, you need to face your emotions fully. You won’t be fine if you’re just forcing yourself to always smile. I can see how deep the pain is in your heart.” Alpha Kamilah continued, “You won’t be able to move on and create a family with Alpha Creed when you are not fully healed yourself.”
“The first step is to let it all out and cry it. There’s no harm in being vulnerable sometimes. Because I was once like you.”
We were letting out tears silently and we just watched as the fire blazed in front of us. The sky was clear earlier, and slowly, I felt the cold wind blowing and the water droplets wetting me. It slowly got heavier and the fire was put out...
It was like the rain sensed me crying so it also cried.
“Oh, we need to return to the packhouse.” I sniffed, now standing up.
“I hope they are safe there, I don’t want Ace to get sick,” Kira mumbled.
“You’re babying your alpha. They have a very strong immune system, Kira.” Irina said, “He even survived the poison, remember? He can manage for a tiny bit of rain.”
Kira huffed, “Well, that Kai of yours is also invincible. Hit him with a large brick and he’ll come from the dead too.”
I love how close they are to the alphas. Irina has a sibling-like banter with Alpha Ace, arguing here and there and teasing each other. Kai also hates Kira for how “weak” she seems and how they had an experience in the past where they were caught by the Fowlers, the human who hunts werewolves and sells them for a price in an auction.
“Why not enjoy this?”
We played in the rain. The alphas returned soon and they joined in to us. We were chasing one another, against the mud and the cold air.
It was chaotic, but fun. A fun that I never had in such a long time. I wanted the time to pause and savor this moment with them.
When the rain stopped, they all left after that, insisting that their work was waiting for them, and they each invited us to their territories, I am looking forward to that day.
Soon. But for now, until. Finished establishing the pack and making it all stable, we’ll have to work harder to reach their level.
