Revelations and temptations
Chapter 6
Ronaldo Matteo's POV
To say she was beautiful would be an understatement. I never thought I'd meet my soul mate. After everything I have done to harm others during my life, it is difficult to accept that the goddess would favor me.
The moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was mine. It was somewhat more than two years ago. She relocated from her former pack to this location. She was in a new place, yet the first thing I noticed was how calm she seemed. Her lack of concern for her spouse was evident. The injuries on her body that she was attempting to cover up with her clothing caught my attention next. Making the connection didn't take long. I killed the bastard for harming my mate the next day.
I killed twenty-five individuals in the end because I was friends with the man who damaged my beauty. I went around cutting off necks like it was no one's business, and she didn't even know who I was.
How could anyone ever want to injure someone so innocent?
I was startled out of my reverie by a knock on the door.
"Come in."
Augusta entered wearing only her underwear. I interrupted her as she tried to plant a kiss on my lips.
"Get on your knees."
She pouted a little and went to work.
Since meeting my beauty, I must admit that I haven't found anyone attractive—she was just too stunning. There would never be anyone like her. Hell, I had to pretend Augusta was her if I wanted to get off.
She is still unaware that she is mine. She relocated here, and I haven't spoken to her since. Since she prefers to read in the garden, I occasionally observe her through my window, but we've never engaged in enough conversation to truly show our friendship.
Dorothy Betrano might eventually discover who she really belonged to.
Blaine De Lombardi's POV
A warmth shot through my body like a wildfire as I met Lucia's eyes.
"Mate."
I could feel the love my wolf already felt for the female in front of me, and I could hear his delight. For ten seconds, he was enamored with a female he knew to be his mate, despite the fact that he had no desire for Mirabel.
Her gaze settled on me, and her eyes were brighter than normal. Her expression went from one of shock to uncertainty and despair.
Her battle to contain her tears was evident to me. I felt relieved that I didn't have to witness Lucia Lorenzo cry in front of me for the first time. A single tear streaked down her tender cheek, and my chest ached.
She was aware of my previous affection for her sister. She knew she would be turned down for this. She was aware, and it devastated me since it was probably true that everything she was thinking.
I was unable to love her, period.
Right now, it's not even about Mirabel. I swear, I'll never love anyone again. It's not feasible for me to live my life with only one woman. Upon observing the melancholy that veiled her stunning face, I felt as though someone had torn my heart and replaced it in the incorrect spot. The realization that I was the cause of her grief devastated my heart more than anything else.
She hastily covered her feelings and said she was sorry.
"Where is she heading? Not only did she not have the cake, It's her favorite," her mother shouted.
"I'll go check on her," Anthony said.
My partner won't let a man into his room!
"No, I will," I responded in a decisive tone. After a moment of hesitation, he turned around and went to get a drink.
I had been walking up the steps of the Lorenzo mansion since I was a puppy. However, I usually ended up in either Cyril's or Mirabel's room. I was in Lucia's room the last time because I wanted to play a practical joke on her.
For weeks, that dye was present.
It felt strange to me to arrive at the mahogany door with the letter "A" etched on top. Since we became teenagers, I couldn't recall if I had ever been in Lucia's room. She removed her jewels and turned to face me when I twisted open the door.
Her gaze met mine, and a stoic expression crossed her face.
"Lucia-" "Leave."
"I know this is tricky."
"Blaine, please." I was stunned by the desperation in her tone. I kept my mouth quiet and watched her admiringly as she removed her accessories. She just kept doing what she was doing, rolling her eyes and glancing at me. She started to struggle as soon as she reached her necklace, but the uncooperative woman turned away from me.
Lucia never asked for assistance. She was always under the impression that she had to solve all of the problems on her own and face life's challenges alone. We both have this quality, and I could see it clearly at that moment.
"Lucia, the clasp is stuck; you won't get it off."
"Hmm, watch me."
There's more to Lucia Lorenzo than that. Never once did the woman back down from a challenge. Actually, I've never seen this woman fail at anything, so it was admirable.
"I know you're angry, but there's no need for your necklace to suffer because of it."
I took my time approaching her and waited for her to strike back. It did not materialize.
I reached down to the base of her back and moved my hands up to her neck. Our eyes were sparkling, and it was clear that our wolves were guiding our choices. I sensed her assuming control of me and wanting to mark her.
Before I knew what was going on, my lips were savagely attacking her neck in a way that would definitely leave a mark come morning. Though I know I should back off, how could I? I couldn't stop myself from tenderly kissing the delicate skin of this stunning woman.
The atmosphere was growing more dense, and I sensed our wolves attempting to break through. The cunning bastards intended for this irreversible outcome once the branding is applied.
"Stop me, Lucy."
"I can't," "I can't control it, Lucia."
My teeth grew longer, and I ran them the whole length of her neck, ready to leave my mark. I could almost feel my wolf staring at her neck as if it were his last meal, unable to control his enthusiasm. She pushed me aside in an instant and used her werewolf speed to dash out the door. That was too close.
However, I genuinely hope it occurs once more.
I made the decision to go for a run in order to decompress after Lucia left. I had to remind myself why I was never going to be able to achieve this. It would never work out because she was the team sister of the girl I once loved. Thankfully, they are not identical twins, as that would have been quite uncomfortable. When I first met my soul partner, I had no idea it would be like this. I thought that once I was alpha and had my life together, I would fuck around and find my mate. That was my expectation after splitting up with Mirabel. That obviously didn't happen because the best way to characterize my current circumstances is as a chaotic muddle. There's no doubt that this will lead to drama within the group.
I transform back into a person and loosen the clothing fastened to my ankle. After I get them on, I turn around and head back toward the pack house.
"Blaine?"
"Mirabel."
"Is she your mate?"
"Who?"
"My sister, is she your mate?"
Her rage was radiating from her eyes, and I could see she would eventually figure everything out. That's how perceptive Mirabel was; she could also detect lies with ease. Luckily, I've become really good at lying after dating her for years.
Really, she couldn't have expected me to recall every anniversary we've had.
"Why would you even think that?"
Although it is not as bright, her eyes still gleam.
"You seem awfully concerned about her wellbeing."
"And you aren't?"
"I am, of course. After all, she is my sister."
I hear the word "sister" in my ear. The woman I have loved for much of my life is Lucia's sister.
You're not aware of what love is.
I believe I understand what love is, as I spent a good amount of time in love with Mirabel.
No, you are mistaken in believing that you understand what love is.
Really? Then explain to me how you came to know what love is.
I've experienced it previously.
