Chapter 19
Willow looked shocked. “Are you sure? You don’t have to, that’s not why we are here.” She said.
“Yes, I’m sure. Laila wants to talk to him.” I told her.
“Why? You saw how he acted out there.” She looked at me questioningly.
“He’s supposed to be my mate, and while I don’t fully understand what that means. From what Beta Lucas has said he should be the other part of me. I need to know why that asshole is meant to be my other half.” I told her.
Shaking her head, she finally said something. “I don’t like it.” She looked down at the ground, seeming embarrassed. “But I understand.” She said after a long pause.
Laila pushed forward and I let her have control. Looking at Willow with a smile. “Let’s put on the dress first.” She gave Willow a wink. I was surprised, Willow could tell it was Laila and not me right away. “I want him to eat his words.” She told Willow.
Willow helped get the dress on which was painted on tight, hugging every curve. Laila ran her hands down her sides to her hips. The smile on her face was downright devious.
The storm brewing within her started slowly, so subtle I didn’t notice at first.
Willow took the lead, walking out in front of us. Beta Lucas and Blaine hadn’t moved since we left. Still standing almost nose to nose with Beta Lucas’ hand around Blaine’s neck.
“Let him go.” Willow said softly.
Beta Lucas looked over Blaine’s shoulder at her questioningly.
Willow walked over squeezing herself between them. “She wants to talk to him.”
The growl that came from his chest that made Laila jump back but Willow stood fast, completely unfazed.
“Let him go.” She said again. Pushing on Beta Lucas’s chest. He gave way even though she wasn’t pushing hard.
Blaine turned towards me, and Laila gestured for him to follow her into the dressing room.
The sound of Willow and Beta Lucas arguing seemed to fade into background noise.
Blaine followed us rubbing his freshly released neck. When the door locked behind him, he moved with frightening speed. Pinning me to the wall, a hand on either side of my face. His scent overwhelmed me, I was glad Laila had control as I felt myself getting lost in his deep green eyes. A strand of his black hair falling in his face, everything in me wanted to reach up and brush it out of the way. Run my fingers through his hair, my hands ached to touch him.
“You will not be his Luna!” he growled.
Feeling the rage inside her building, a crash of emotions hit me like lightning, and I was snapped back from my trance.
What the fuck is wrong with me? I thought.
Laila stood up tall, getting directly in Blaine’s face. “You rejected me. I didn’t know what I was, and you abandoned me. My whole life everyone has abandoned me. You have no right…”
His fingers ran behind my ear and laced them through my hair. Pulling me in and closing the gap between us. His mouth crashed hungrily into mine, his tongue running across my lips begging for acceptance.
At first Laila tried to pull away but the vibration in his chest as he purred acted like a drug. The room and all sounds around us but his faded away.
Giving into him felt good and right. His tongue running across mine as he pulled my body against his.
The crashing noises coming from outside the room crept into my ears and began distracting me. Laila pushed him away, but he resisted. Gripping the front of the dress tightly he tore it off leaving us exposed.
The butterflies in my stomach abruptly stopped. Panic set in as the reality of the situation hit me. His hand covered my mouth and my head slammed into the wall.
“You will reject Colton.” Blaine said coldly as he slammed my head into the wall again. “You are weak, unfit to be a Luna and unworthy of being my mate.” Blaine growled.
The walls were shaking and all at once everything that had been blocked out in the moments before came rushing forward.
Beta Lucas and Willow on the other side of the door pounding and crashing into it trying to break through. I could hear one of them shift their claws ripping at the door. Splinters of wood flying in word as a hole appeared.
Laila drew a deep breath, and everything fell silent. I could feel her pulling further from me, I was thrown back. I was no longer with her but watching from behind her eyes, looking like a movie screen.
The corners of her vision swirled with gold flakes. A deep growl left her chest and the sound of breaking bones surrounded me echoing off the walls of my mind. I spun in circles trying to pinpoint the sound, but it was coming from everywhere.
Laila charged Blaine, jaws snapping as I was sucked back forward.
The door gave way and a large sandy brown wolf burst through the opening followed by a much smaller honey blonde wolf.
Blaine turned his attention towards them, Laila sunk her razor-sharp canines into his left forearm. His blood filled her mouth, dripping down her fur onto the floor. Raising his right hand in a fist he punched her head hoping she would release him. Her jaws clinched tighter, the sound of ripping flesh as hit jerked his arm away.
The sandy brown wolf took the opportunity to pounce on Blaine, blocking Laila’s access as the smaller wolf grabbed Laila’s tail and pulled her back through the opening.
Laila snarled at the other wolf before collapsing in pain. The honey blonde wolf quickly melted back into Willow.
“Shit! Shit! Shit.” Willow screamed while running back into the dressing room. Throwing herself on top of Blaine’s body. “Lucas STOP!” She yelled.
Beta Lucas’s wolf held Blaine by the neck, tossing him around the room like a rag doll.
Laila faded away completely, and I found myself sitting against the wall. Warm red liquid running from my neck down my chest.
Willows screams are high pitched and hurt my ears. “Lucas stop!” She repeated. “They are connected!” She yelled.
