Chapter 48
Allies eyes comically widened as those words registered. She should have known that Harold would follow through with his plan. After all, he's an Alpha with a mission. A dangerous one at that. Her eyes shifted towards Nate, who visibly tensed at Sams words.
"My pack is ready!" Nate clicked his tongue. "That werewolf can do whatever he wants. We will still win."
The air in the room shifted. She didn't want Nate to have anything to do with that despicable man. Just the thought of him being all alone against him made her stomach curl in fear. As if the Alpha heard her thoughts, Nate cleared his throat.
"Don't worry; my pack will be helping me."
Sam heaved a sigh. "Wish I could help you in some way."
"You helped. We had no idea that they are ready. Now we can be more cautious."
"I mean by fighting against them" His voice raised. "They threatened to kill my baby sister, and I have done nothing about it."
Allie cleared her throat, placing a hand on his. Tears dribbled down her chin, voice wobbly as she met his eyes. "Stop that, Sam. You have always looked after me, so don't you feel sorry now."
Her brother gave her a watery smile. "Come here now."
They shared a quick hug, careful of his injured on the chest and the shoulder. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed Rachel hurrying towards them with a white box. Her best friend sat beside Sam and started nursing his wound immediately.
Silence stretched in the room as they all stared at Sam lying on the bed. His right hand was bleeding, but fortunately, the cut wasn't that deep. Still, it would take his wolf at least two
days to heal that nasty wound. There were several cuts and marks on his chest as well.
Nate was the one to break the silence in the room. "I think I'll leave for the packhouse now."
"Now?"
"Yeah, if Harold is ready, then I don't think he will wait any longer."
Allie made a face. "Then take me with you."
The Alpha widened his eyes, shaking his head. "N-No, I cant put you at risk, Allie. We have no idea how long this will continue."
She didn't want to stay back and regret it later in her life. If he was going to do it, then she should be there for him. The omega could still throw a few punches. "I know the address anyway. If you don't take me, then I will go all alone."
Sam winced. "Allie, you can't go alone. I'll go with you."
"You are not going anywhere. Rachel will be here to take care of you."
Her best friend blushed but nodded her head. "Y-Yeah, I can do that."
Nate groaned. "You're very stubborn."
"Thank you. Now let's go."

Allie stood awkwardly in the doorway to the building that housed the training sessions for the pack soldiers.
There was a lot of space in the room, and there were people dressed primarily in pack uniform, all purple. Some were fighting, others, some were cleaning gear, and others were chilling on benches around the room while amid a conversation. Allie also spotted Brent, the sword-smith of the pack, who Nate almost killed in a fit of rage.
As soon as they entered the packhouse, Allie was welcomed with hugs and kisses. They found out that she's pregnant and carrying the first Pure grandson/granddaughter of the Harper generation. Nates mother wouldn't leave her side, feeding her cookies made of nuts, oatmeal and whatnot. They also promised her to have a proper baby shower. It's overwhelming.
Nate was quick to drop her with a kiss on her forehead and made his way to the training building. She followed him.
As Allie took a step forward before someone cleared their throat loudly. The omega turned instantly to look at a group of men, their gazes trained on her as she stood halfway in the gigantic room.
"Never seen you before, looking for someone?"
"Uh yeah." There was a pause before she continued. "Hi. I'm Allie."
One of the other men spoke up. "Allie? I never heard that name before. What are you looking for?"
Someone walked in from the benches. "Are you a new warrior?"
She opened her mouth to answer, "I'm—"
when a voice popped up from beside her.
"She's my omega" Nate wrapped an arm around her waist, eyeing the group of men with his lips pressed together.
As soon as the Alpha came in sight, they all straightened up and bowed their heads in respect for their leader. They did the same to her, to which she smiled softly at the gesture. Allie appreciated it, but it felt foreign to her, having grown up with no pack. Being an outcast and isolated to being an omega of the most prestigious Hellhound family felt like a dream.
"Congratulations, Alpha", Some beta spoke up. "We heard your omega is expecting"
A smile curved at Nates lips at the mention of her pregnancy. That wasn't fake. She knew that he genuinely loved their baby, and it made her feel all fuzzy and warm inside.
"Yes, we are."
Nates smile was quickly replaced by a blank stare. "Enough of this chitchat. Get back to your training."
"Do you want something?" He asked her once they all went back to whatever they were doing.
Allie shook her head. "Just wanted to observe."
"Okay"

After they were done with dinner and everyone retired back to their bed, Allie dragged Nate away. She was on edge the entire day. Even after seeing the pack soldiers perform at their best, her mind wasn't at ease.
She shivered as the breeze flew by them, the sound of insects humming echoing around.
The omega always found the sky relaxing, but that night, she couldn't dare stand the sight of it.
"Why did you bring me here?"
Allie chewed on her lips. "I want to apologise to your family about this. All this is because of me."
"Don't be silly! They don't need to know anything."
"Besides, don't take all the credit. I'm sure our breeds superior genes might have something to do with Harold's anger," He jokingly added, which fell apart.
She wrapped her arms around herself. "I'm scared, Nate."
"I told you that our baby—"
"For you" The omega cut him off.
His eyes widened. "Oh"
Before she could say anything else, they were rudely interrupted by a pack soldier. Both of them turned around.
"It's urgent, Alpha. I'm afraid it cannot wait."
Nate sighed. "Fine."
He turned to her. "Go to our room and get some sleep. I'll be back soon."

The next morning Allie woke up all alone in her bed. She had no idea when her eyes began to drop, making her fall into pit-less darkness. Where was Nate? Did he even come to bed?
She quickly took a shower and exited her room in search of the Alpha.
On her way, the omega spotted him deep in discussion with the soldiers. Before she could take a step further, a blood-curdling scream echoed around. A loud ear-shattering sound followed it.
Everyone around her began to panic, scrambling to get away from the windows.
"Nate!"
The Alpha was quick to rush to her side. He escorted her along with pups and other pregnant omegas. They were taken to the long passage, which had a safe room on the other side.
"Stay here", He murmured.
"What's going on?"
"Harold's pack started the fight."
Nate leaned down to kiss her bump, his hand softly caressing. "I'll come back soon, baby."
As the Alpha stood upright, his eyes meeting hers, someone tugged on his wrist. Nate looked over his shoulder; the Pack Leader, his father, gave him a look. They had to get a move on. Before she knew it, he was gone.

The pain-filled screams and groans wouldn't stop coming from outside. Allie couldn't beat it any longer. She had to be there. Ignoring their protests, the omega locked the door behind her and concealed it just the way Nate did.
Allie followed the pack soldiers, trying her best to hide in between them. They were already giving her worried glances, but she didn't care. Nate was too important to her. If something were to happen, she wanted him to know that she loves him.
She stepped in the field when the Alpha facing Nate scoffed. "A pregnant omega? Why are you here? To fight?"
"You're underestimating what I can do. You and I, right now, fist to fist," Allie gritted her teeth.
"Allie? No!" Nate was quick to intervene; he tried rushing to her side but was met with a group of betas growling at him. Nate came to an abrupt stop, trying to fight them off while giving her a look of uncertainty.
The opponent Alpha twirled the blade in his palm. "Oh really? Let's see if you can survive my blade then."
With that, he came straight at her with the knife in all its glory; Allie decided that her first step was to disarm the man.
The Alpha swiped the knife towards her, the blade glistening in the light, but she quickly ducked away. Allie shot up in an instance and brought her forearm up to block the man's arm from bouncing back with the knife, the blade inches from cutting. She took no time in hooking her grip around that pathetic Alphas arm and smashing his forearm on her knee, completely disarming him.
"Now, do you believe me, Alpha?"
