Even with all my persistence in defending my point of view, Virginia went to the store that morning and I, although annoyed, went to drop her off at the mall so that she wouldn't have to use any other type of transportation.

I was going to talk to her about the possibility of having a driver at her disposal since it was too dangerous to drive, but I already anticipated some resistance from her, stubborn as she was. In any case, I had to accept this defeat, after getting her to sit still for a whole week.

Needless to say, how much I took advantage of the fact that Virginia was in my apartment with only me as her company and that our time together was wonderful, now that she was no longer avoiding me all the time.

Quite the contrary! We had many hot and intense moments and Virginia seemed insatiable, and even though I knew that this was also something caused by the pregnancy hormones, I was quite happy to fulfill all her desires, especially the sexual ones.

But since she wanted to get back to her routine, all that was left was for me to get back to mine as well, and this is exactly what I did, giving myself completely to work and taking care of the things I had put aside to devote myself to my woman.

I called my secretary to my office, after finishing some things that I knew were more urgent so that we could reschedule some appointments that couldn't be fulfilled at a distance, so when the door to my office opened, I could not move my eyes from the computer screen.

" Did you check my calendar as I asked you to, Arlete? " I asked, my attention fully focused on the computer.

" I asked Arlete to let me come here first " Aquiles spoke up, letting me know of your entrance. "I want to take advantage of the fact that you decided to come out of hiding after a whole week of hiding from the world.”

I seriously thought about not answering my cousin because I was still upset with him, both for what happened the day I met Virginia in her store when Lavinia believed that it would make me not want my delicious and crazy brunette anymore, and also for our meeting in the elevator. After all, even in the face of everything his girlfriend does, he still defends her.

"Are you still dating the shallow and petty actress?”

I thought it was better to make sure that my cousin still insisted on being with that unpleasant woman before I had any conversation with him about my personal life.

Aquiles had tried to talk to me a few times, but before he slammed the door to my apartment, as he always used to do, I warned him, making it clear, that I wouldn't want any visitors for a few days.

" Are you still hiding from your family the woman you brought to your apartment and have spent the last few days locked up with, not leaving the house for exactly anything? " He returned to the same tone.

" I plan to take Virginia to Grandma's next Sunday " I finally explained "And you, what do you have to say about your girlfriend?”

" Grandma and my sister already know Lavinia and are quite fond of her, if you must know, " Aquiles said nonchalantly.

Walking over to one of the chairs at the head of the table, he sat down, crossing his legs as he always used to do, and looked at me questioningly.

" Who is Virginia, Murilo? "My cousin wanted to know. "We never heard about this girl before, and now you take her to live with you. Not even with Bruna it was so fast.”

"I wish you would not talk about Bruna again, Aquiles.”

I had already made that same request several times.

"I'm sorry to inform you, or should I say remind you, but that's impossible, cousin.”

This made me very curious, and I waited for him to continue explaining why it had become impossible not to talk about someone who no longer had any importance in our lives, but I realized that Aquiles was waiting for me to formulate the question, just to be annoying.

" Why is this impossible now? " I did as he wished. "Not that you have complied with this same request before.”

"Bruna demanded to participate more actively in FERZ's decisions, and since she currently holds a significant stake in FERZ's shares, it was not possible to deny this.”

I felt a strange tightness in my chest imagining what she intended to achieve with this and what form she had imposed for such participation.

"So what specifically did she demand?”

" She is now our marketing director, " Aquiles clarified.

I was a little relieved to learn that my exfiancée's demand would not directly affect my work at FERZ and even less my life in general.

" And since when do we put into a board position someone completely unprepared, as Bruna surely is? " I made it clear how upset I was by such absurd news.

" You forget that Bruna has a degree in Marketing, just when it was you who paid for her to go to a very expensive college? " Aquiles made a point of reminding me of this, too.

But I wouldn't dwell on things that would make me angrier than I already was because everything related to Bruna had the power to annoy me and I couldn't let it continue to happen because that way she would always take advantage of it. Consequently, all of this would lead me to make rash decisions and even act impulsively, something that I simply abhorred and that could perhaps even harm me in some way.

I thought about it and came to the conclusion that the Marketing department was something that I could leave to other people most of the time, and only when it involved big financial decisions did I take the lead and meet with the leaders in this sector.
