When Virginia entered my office, she was visibly tense, and I smiled at her so that she understood that she would always be very welcome in my office.
" Hi, honey " I greeted, approaching where she was standing, still standing near the door to my office.
"Hi," she replied, confirming that I believed she was nervous about being there.”
I hugged her, placed a brief kiss on her lips, and pulled her into one of the chairs set up in front of my desk.
"I must say that I am very happy that you have come to my office and are always welcome for future visits.”
When she was already seated on one of the chairs, she put her hands together on her lap and, still looking embarrassed, she just smiled in return for my words.
" I came so that we could go to your apartment together " she explained, after a few seconds in which I could only stare at her and admire how beautiful she was.
" What do you say when we go out to dinner at a nice restaurant? " I suggested.
" I think that's a good idea, " Virginia agreed. "I need to talk to you, and I also have some good news for you.”
I felt elated by her answer and got up from my chair, intending to go to my desk to turn off the computer and get my work folder, when the door to the room suddenly opened.
I was even more surprised when Bruna came through the door looking like a hurricane, closely accompanied by Arlete, who looked extremely nervous.
" I asked her to wait a bit, that you were busy, but she didn't listen " Arlete explained, her eyes afflicted.
" Don't worry, Arlete " I reassured her "I'll take care of it.”
Arlete looked at me fearfully before leaving the office but left the door ajar.
" You send for us twenty minutes before our meeting time and when I get here, your incompetent secretary tells me you're busy! " Bruna complained in an exalted manner, "You think I'm some kind of clown?”
She said, one hand on her waist, in a posture that indicates how upset she was, in case her words were not enough.
" You can't come in here without permission, and you have no right to speak to me in that tone of voice " I retorted.
" I'll speak as I please " she replied "You can't get over the fact that I left you to be with Ethan, and you'll use anything as a way to try to diminish me, just to show that you have more power. I want you to understand once and for all that I own stock in this company, and you can't treat me with disdain.”
I looked at Virginia, still sitting in the same place, but with a precise posture of insecurity and I brought my hands to my hair, ruffling it, extremely upset because this was the worst moment for Bruna to come after me to discuss our past and present.
" Can we talk at another time, Bruna? " I used a conciliatory tone in making the request "I forgot about our meeting and I must apologize for that, but today there is not the slightest possibility of it happening.”
I was not afraid of Bruna and much less would I let her continue to act this way the next time we met, but now I just needed to take Virginia home and clarify the scene she was witnessing because besides not understanding any of this, she was also pregnant.
" Why not today? " Bruna demanded to know. "I won't accept that you reschedule our meeting.”
" I don't care what you accept or not, Bruna " I point out "Right now I'm leaving and you should do the same.”
After saying that, I picked up the folder on the table, while the two women looked at me in astonishment, and walked over to Virginia, holding her hand, indicating that she should stand up.
Only at this moment did Bruna seem to become aware of Virginia's presence in my office, as her eyes seemed to release sparks of fire in her direction.
" Who is this... " Bruna seemed to search for a word, and I glared at her, for if she dared to offend Virginia, things would change "...girl?”
" This girl here is Murilo's girlfriend" Virginia explained, standing up while holding my hand firmly.
Now it was Virginia's turn, and she managed to leave me extremely surprised with her attitude, besides being very happy too for the same reason.
" What do you mean, Murilo's girlfriend? '' Bruna was not intimidated by Virginia's stance, however, "Murilo can't be dating someone like you, girl.”
Bruna now got into a matter that does not concern you and that could only further complicate my relationship with the woman I love, and I would, right now, put her out of my office.
" Someone better than you, that's what you meant, isn't it? " Virginia didn't need me to defend her, though "I am quite surprised that he would get involved with someone as horribly rude and arrogant as you!”
" Look here, you... " Bruna started to say, taking a few steps in Virginia's direction.
" See you here, Bruna! " I said, standing in front of Virginia "I want you to leave my office right now, this very instant. And I don't want you here again under any circumstances, do you hear me?”
Bruna seemed to be very surprised by my attitude, which was quite normal, considering that in the four years, we have been dating I had never changed my tone of voice to speak to her as I did now.
" She insulted me! " Bruna defended herself, looking incredulous "And you're kicking me out of your classroom?”
" That's right," I confirmed. "I want you to leave now.”
In addition to my words, I also pointed toward the door and Arlete, appearing to have been listening to the discussion, soon appeared to assist me.
" Can you accompany me to the exit, please? " Arlete reinforced my order, but politely.
