Murilo
But when I turned around in the direction Virginia was looking, the only man who was walking, appearing to be coming toward us, was Constantino, and I was annoyed again, just by looking at the face of that arrogant jerk.
" I see you are in very good company tonight, Murilo " He dared to say, as he approached us "You must introduce me to your company tonight, partner.”
I believe Virginia realized that my first impulse, which would have been almost involuntary when Ethan said this, was to start on him because she took a step, immediately stood next to me, and held my arm as if to restrain me.
" Who are you? " she asked before I could say anything.
" Ethan Constantino and I are very pleased to meet this beautiful woman in front of me," He said outrageously, holding out his hand and making me angry now "And you, what is your name?”
" Virginia Oliveira " was all my woman said, without extending her hand in response to the bastard's greeting "Murilo's girlfriend.”
" Murilo's girlfriend? " He repeated, looking incredulous "And you, who are you? " This time he addressed Mariana, who was just observing our interaction until now.
" Mariana Souza " She introduced herself but didn't try to be nice either.
" Mariana Souza? That doesn't say anything about you " Ethan protested, looking indignant.
If I hadn't been feeling so annoyed by the worm's presence, I would have laughed in his face because he seemed to be stunned in some way and I had no idea why.
" And what else do you want? " I asked, wanting to get rid of his presence as quickly as possible "Mariana is our guest and that's all you need to know.”
Ethan looked from Virginia to Mariana a few times, as if he were analyzing the two girls, and I tensed up because I didn't like the way he was looking at them at all.
" I have the impression that I've seen them somewhere before " he snapped, leaving me cold "But I have no idea where.”
It was only at that moment that I remembered that he was in the club the night the two girls had put their virginity up for auction and that even the two of us were vying with Virginia to see who would bid the highest.
If Ethan could identify the two, he wouldn't even blink before using that information to his advantage, and that possibility was not at all pleasant.
Virgínia
When the man who had been staring insistently at Mariana approached us, I was happy that she had aroused the interest of someone who was at Murilo's company party because that indicated that was someone the well and that was a good thing.
Mariana never really told me what happened at the nightclub, but I felt that it had not been something good, as it was with me, and she had become more withdrawn after that. So maybe that was a good opportunity to finally meet a nice guy.
But when he came right up to us, talking in that arrogant and cretinous way, I deduced from the tension that came off Murilo that that man could only be the rival of my boyfriend, Ethan Constantino.
And so I immediately prostrated myself at Murilo's side, in a clear attempt to prevent him from doing anything foolish because Ethan seemed to enjoy provoking him.
But it proved to be even more serious now when he showed doubt about knowing Mariana and me from somewhere else because immediately, the memory of him and Murilo competing for the highest bid on the night of the auction came to mind. I felt chilled, just at the possibility that he might be able to identify Mariana and me as the two girls who put themselves up for auction because that could only hurt us, after all, he was Murilo's enemy.
" I'm sure we had never met before " It was Mariana who took charge of the situation.
I believe that Murilo and I were so horrified by the possibility of Constantino putting the pieces together, that we couldn't even answer anything.
" I believe you are wrong, but I am sure that at some point memory will be on my side "He spoke nonchalantly, but to my ears, it was like a threat.”
Mariana and he seemed to stare at each other for eternity as if they were measuring their strength, and then, with a nod of the head, Constantino finally left us alone.
" What do you think? " I asked, feeling very tense.
I preferred not to say clearly what I was thinking because there were other people around us, and maybe they could hear what we were saying.
" I think he'll soon find out where he knows us from, " Mariana pointed out.
" So, do you remember him from that night? " Murilo asked, surprised. "It was a little dark, but if you still managed to identify him, he might remember you too.”
" I'm afraid so " Mariana agreed.
" And to think that the other snakes haven't even struck yet " I commented, sighing "I hope they contain themselves until the end of this party.”
After this scene, the party lost its luster, but even so, I made sure to stay in the event, so as not to generate an even greater distrust in Constantino.
Leaving now would be the same as running away, and this would give him even more fuel to try to find out what he thought was important information.
I even lost my appetite and when Arlete joined us, we divided into two groups and circulated the house, trying to give equal attention to all the employees.
At some point, Murilo also ended up staying with a group of men, so I asked them to leave. I needed to go to the bathroom and opted to go to Murilo's suite, instead of using one of the bathrooms on the lower floor.
