If Murilo fell in love with Virginia, and it happened before he even met me, then I couldn't just hate the girl for it, but that's what I felt.

Allied with this came jealousy, which led me to take the worst possible actions, and now I felt ashamed of myself and of what I had done to damage the image of Virginia with Murilo's family.

I believe that I understood all of this too late and Aquiles no longer cared about me and even less about the child that I was expecting, and now I would be alone, and my career would be affected by breaking the contract that I had signed just a few days ago. The role would no longer fit my profile and I would still have a child to raise when I knew that I was not the best example in the world.

For all that, I was now standing in front of Virginia, both because I was trying to fix at least part of the mess I had made, and also because I needed to talk to someone and I didn't trust anyone in the art world to do that because I feared it would be in all the magazines and gossip sites.

I looked at Virginia and decided that I would go all the way and tell her everything that I had done and how I was feeling now.

"I am very sorry for speaking badly about you to our boyfriends' grandmother, and for having fed unfounded jealousy because today I know that Aquiles loves me, but I also know that I made a lot of mistakes with him and I believe that now the time has come for me to pay for my mistakes.”

Virginia seemed uncomfortable hearing my last words and I noticed that she brought her hand to her belly, caressing it in a very protective way, as well as looking at her belly in an extremely loving way.

" You mustn't have your child as a punishment or anything like that, Lavinia " she scolds me "A child will always be a blessing, regardless of whether we are with his father or not.”

" Are you pregnant? " I ask, frowning because this doubt came up instantly now.

" Yes, I am pregnant " she confirms promptly.

I was shocked to hear his confirmation, and even without reaction because I had no idea about this.

"And you are keeping the pregnancy a secret? Is that why nobody knows yet?”

" To tell you the truth, Murilo and I intended to tell his family during lunch at his grandmother's, but things didn't turn out quite as we imagined. " There was no hint of sarcasm or irony in his voice as he told me this "But soon we will tell everyone about my pregnancy.”

" You're pregnant! " a female voice asked, in a thin, angry scream.

I finished wiping the remaining tears from my face and looked at the newcomer, who was standing at the entrance of the hallway, and realized that it was Bruna, Murilo's ex, whom Aquiles didn't even introduce to me, claiming that she was persona non grata in the family.

" I'm coming down, Lavinia. Will you come with me? " Virginia asked me, completely ignoring Bruna's question.

When Aquiles told me what Bruna had done to his cousin, I understood perfectly the restraint everyone had towards her, as well as Virginia's reaction now. Even more so when she should have no hassles like the one Bruna seemed to want at that moment.

" Yes, let's go, " I agreed immediately.

" Are you deaf? Did you by any chance not hear my question? " Bruna insisted.

We continued to ignore the other woman and walked past her towards the stairs, but she suddenly grabbed Virginia by the arm, staring at her with true hatred in her.

" So you decided to do the belly flop, did you, you bitch? " Bruna questioned, pointing a finger in Virginia's face.

" You can let me go now, you poisonous snake! " Virginia demanded, trying to free herself from Bruna's grasp "And bitch is you, you…”

Before Virginia could say what she intended, due to her movements to get loose, Bruna eventually pushed her away, freeing her from the grip on her arm.

But Virginia was so close to the first step of the ladder, that as she took a step, she seemed to get off balance, and I was sure she was going to fall down the stairs.

It was all too fast and when I realized what was going to happen, I held Virginia in time to prevent her from probably falling, but I ended up losing my balance and only felt the thud.

" Lavinia! " I still heard the woman's scream, and a few less serious ones, before I rolled down the stairs.

After talking to Mariana for some time, I looked everywhere for Virginia and could not find her, which was very strange because she had left to go to the bathroom and was taking a long time.

I decided that I would look for Virginia myself, asked the staff I was talking to excuse me, and walked quickly towards the stairs leading to the top floor.

But as I was approaching the stairs and looked up, just by a gesture that seemed quite instinctive, I noticed a strange movement coming from the corridor and soon realized that it was Virginia, surrounded by Bruna and Lavínia.

My heart seemed to jump out of my chest at that instant, such was the astonishment I felt when I saw the two women surrounding Virginia like that, and I felt that there was something very wrong in that situation. And when I saw Bruna holding Virginia's arm with apparent strength, I sped up my steps and some people ended up looking at me strangely for my rude attitude, even pushing some on the way.

But before I could even get my foot on the first step of the stairs, I saw that in an attempt to get free of the arm holding her, Virginia seemed to lose her balance, but Lavinia managed to stop her fall and I sighed with relief, my heart beating again after such a fright.
