Chapter 16
Bobby dragged her out with every bit of his strength as Ava refused to move a step out of the car. Of course he was much more powerful than she was and succeeded in carrying her over his shoulders effortlessly, like a ragged doll.
" Asshole! Let go of me! " She shouted at the top of her lungs but he paid no heed to her as he walked along the woods.
" Help! Somebody help me! I'm being kidnapped! " She screamed but it was fruitless as no one heard her. He whistled along, not even stopping her from screaming. Her strength got drained with each yell and she finally quietened down after what seemed like hours. Her eyes started to droop in fatigue but she shook it off weakly. She had to stay awake to save herself, she comforted herself with the words and went quiet.
They arrived at a small wood house and he opened the door. The interior of the wood house looked more like the outer world, she couldn't even describe how it looked. All she knew was, it was not fit for a pet, much more a human being. Bobby threw her on the hard, dirty floor and she cried out in pain. She was going to kill the son of a bitch when she laid her hands on him, she vowed.
The room was dimly lit but she could see the silhouette of a man behind a desk. She squinted her eyes until they adjusted to the not so bright room.
" Is that the product? " The man asked, taking a glance at her.
Bobby nodded and rubbed his palms together in pleasure like he had done something great.
" Yes, I assure you Carl, she one of the best goods you've ever bought "
The man Carl, nodded " Okay, I'll take your words for it but what's the matter? Is she dull like the others too? " He frowned slightly in irritation.
Bobby bursted into laughter and the sound filled the room, vibrating through the walls.
" One word from her and you'd want to strangle her "
Carl nodded in satisfaction " I like that " and he stood up. Surprisingly, he was very short and she smiled in satisfaction too, quietly orchestrating her plan to escape.
He came to her and touched her cheeks with calloused hands but she slapped his hands away, glaring at him.
He laughed, the sound bouncing through the walls " I can see you're a spitfire, I like that but I have to teach you some manners "
He raised his hand to strike her but it never came as Ava stood up in swift movement and kicked him in the balls so hard that she felt he would die. Good thing the morons hadn't bothered to tie her up because they thought she was harmless.
Bobby's mouth dropped opened in shock as he looked at her. Regaining his composure, he came at her too but she dodged at the last minute and kneed him in the balls too. He yelped in pain and went down too. Ava took to her heels immediately. She clearly remembered the way they came so she ran along hurriedly and after what it felt like forever, she came out to the deserted road. Her legs had bruises on them but she didn't mind, she just wanted to go home. She had lost her phone when the fight occured.
It was getting dark and a car had not passed in the last few hours or so. Right that moment, a car was coming towards her and she heaved a sigh of relief, muttering thanks to the heavens.
The man helped her get home safely, saying he owed Alex one. She didn't know what he meant by that. The whole house had began to look for her and she managed to blink back her tears at the love and care they showed.
Jack vowed to have Bobby arrested when she narrated the incident to him and Maggie blamed herself for sending Ava out. She said such a thing wouldn't have happened if she had gone to the market herself. She was treated and things got better after that.

The day Alex was to have his surgery came and Ava didn't want to go with them but Jack had strongly refused, saying Alex needed her presence more than anyone else. They arrived at the hospital in minutes and Jack went into the doctor's office first, leaving Liam with Ava.
The boy was a chatterbox and she managed to keep up with his energy. He kept her company where Alex was all quiet and withdrawn. Few minutes later, Jack emerged from the doctor's office, accompanied by the doctor himself.
Jack told her the surgery would begin anytime soon and she went over to Alex. He stared down at her with a mixed expression.
" You'll be fine, okay? " She squeezed his hands and he squeezed back.
" The surgery will begin now " A voice was heard as some nurses whisked him away but not before Ava stopping them as she pleaded a minute with him in privacy. They looked to the doctor for approval and he nodded. She looked at him with teary eyes, knowing he wouldn't be the same when he came out, everything would be different then, she thought.
" Things will definitely change between us after today, I know " She whispered and placed a soft kiss on his forehead while Jack looked away.
" Who is she? " The doctor asked as he sensed the closeness between the young billionaire and the Miss.
" His babysitter " Jack replied quietly and turned away. Liam came over to him and he stooped to carry him in his arms.
" Daddy? " His son called, drawing his attention back to him.
" Yes son? " Jack asked, managing to smile at him.
" Is Uncle Alex sick? " Liam asked innocently, his grey eyes boring into his.
Jack ruffled his hair " Yes, but he's about to get treated "
Liam's eyes widened " Really? "
Jack nodded " Yes baby and when he comes out, he'll be all better and could take you to Disneyland again "
Liam's eyes shone with excitement and he squealed happily " Are you for real? "
Jack nodded " I am "
Liam shouted " Yeah! " And hugged his father tightly, almost choking him up.

Hours later, the doctor came over to meet them. He was smiling, meaning things were good, Ava thought. He shook Jack's hands.
" What's up John? " Jack asked anxiously.
John nodded " It was a success " and he smiled.
Jack heaved a deep sigh of relief.
Ava spoke up " Can we go in to see him now? " She was anxious to see the man she had missed in the past few hours. So strange how he was only gone for some hours and she felt like it was a lifetime.
John nodded " Yeah sure, he's awake now "
They went in quickly and met Alex sitting up. Out of happiness, Ava flew into his arms, crying.
" Oh you're awake! You're fine! " She squealed, hugging him tighter.
Alex frowned and looked at his brother, obviously, he recognized Jack.
" Who is she? " He asked
