Chapter One Hundred and seven
Damien's POV;
"So Mr Kingston, we've checked all your vitals and you're in good shape. We'll keep watching you but if you keep it up, soon enough you'll be discharged." The doctor who had exchanged numbers with Amy the last time we were at the hospital said.
"Thank you, doc." I rasped out, squinting my eyes in reaction to the pain I felt. The headaches that came with the injury on my head were searing.
"How soon can he get discharged?" Ariana piped up. She had been quiet ever since the doctor came in.
"Oh uhm Ariana, we're going to have to observe him for a few days, after that, he'll be free to go home but would still have stipulated days for regular check-ups."
I barely heard his string of words. The only thing that caught my attention was the fact that he referred to her by her first name.
"She's Mrs Kingston to you. You got that?" I said plainly but with a warning in my eyes.
"Yes sir." He nodded, swallowed and left after staring at my wife who didn't even glance in his direction.
Once I heard the door shut, my eyes trailed over to her. Her curious pitch black eyes stared back at me as she sat palming her hands on the cream colored three-seater couch situated by the window blind on the other side of the room. She was clad in pink joggers and a black form fitting long sleeved top that left nothing of the line of her curves hidden. Sexy as...
Wait what was I going to say to her again?
"Babe?"
"Mhmm." She hummed twirling her single braid around her index finger as she tapped on her phone.
"Why's that doctor on first name basis with you?"
"You mean Caleb?"
Oh wow. She even called his name better than she did mine.
"Yes, him." I calmly stated.
"Oh he's just some dude that's been asking me out on a date." She threw out casually as her pink Crocs kissed the floor while she walked over to the water dispenser to get herself a drink.
"What?! Doesn't he know that you're married?" My voice had gone up a notch.
"He does. It's not like we're going to be together for much longer so," she completed her hurtful statement with a shrug.
"You agreed?!" I thought I was going to have a stroke with the way spasms of shock surged through me.
"No, I still respect the fact that I'm married to you. But, after the divorce, I might."
"You sound so confident about the divorce." I reasoned out.
"It's inevitable." She said.
"Give me a chance to prove you wrong then." I quipped.
"Damien not now please." She tutted.
"Are we going to keep going around the topic? Are you telling me you're going to leave again after I recover?"
Her silence and uncomfortable shift from one foot to the other was my answer, hurtfully so.
"Ariana, really? You can't wait to run away from me. So, I'm the worse person in the world to be with? Is that what you're saying?! Really!" I yelled out ignoring the growing headache as I sat up on the bed though with great difficulty.
"Damien that's not what I'm saying." Her eyes drooped in sadness.
"Then what are you saying?! Arghhhhh." I loudly groaned in pain holding on to my head as I fell back on the bed writhing in pain.
"Damien!" I heard her terror filled scream as she rushed to my side.
***
Ariana's POV;
"Damien!" I screamed in terror when I beheld how much pain he was going through. Why did I keep putting this man through pain?
"Babe, please I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry."
My hands were all over the place, I did not know what to do with myself.
I frantically called for the nurse who came over and had him put to sleep.
After the incident, I decided to tread with caution. I had to be careful about whatever I said and did to him. I did not want to escalate things further.
I was going to have to give him a chance to prove himself though I was sure that he would mess things up. But, because I blamed myself for his condition, I was going to accept his deal. I was sure we were going to be divorced by the end of it anyways. I would give him a chance though I knew it in my heart of heart that by the end of it, I would not stay married to him.
"Espero no estar cometiendo un error." I soliloquized as I toyed with the locket around my neck. (I hope I'm not making a mistake.)
I had to set some ground rules before agreeing to his deal. It would make it much easier if we had something to make reference to before things got out of hand.
I picked up a pen and a plain sheet of paper.
"Number one; no inappropriate touches." I hummed in approval as I scribbled it down. This was one of the most important part of the process.
"Number two; no sleeping in the same bedroom." This was in a bid to avoid the first rule.
"Number three; No unnecessary arguments over my relationships with other guys." That act of his always grated on my nerves.
"Number four; No yelling at me." Damien's yelling always had me fumbling. It was nerve-wracking to witness and worse when you were on the receiving end.
"Number five; No ordering me around." Very important. I was his wife now, not bound by contractual agreement, we were now facing the real deal and he had to treat me as such - not as an employee.
"Last but not least; Mico must come with me to the villa."
I scribbled rule after rule on the plain sheet of paper, promising myself to stand my ground no matter what he said or did.
The last rule had me missing my little guy. I had Brianna take him back to her house cause they wouldn't allow pets at the hospital and Damien didn't seem to be so fond of pets.
I laid back and waited for him to come awake so we could discuss like two mature adults that we are.
***
"Done."
"Done?" My mouth fell open. He pushed my chin back up.
Minutes before....
When he woke up from his slumber hours after he was put to sleep I had him eat lunch and rest for a little bit before going over to sit next to him so we could discuss.
"I've decided to accept your deal." I said barely able to stare up at his smiling face because it made my heart beat rapidly.
"But," I held up my finger to stop him from getting overly elated.
"I have some ground rules drafted out for the next few months, I'm going to be with you."
"Okay, let me see them." He sounded like he was expecting something like this but I did well to not show how startling his calm demeanor was. He took the sheet of paper and skimmed through it quickly and just accepted it.
I was ready for battle with him over this matter but he just poured cold water on all of my preparedness.
"Just like that?" I asked further.
"Yes, I'll do whatever it is that you want. As long as you're happy with it, I'm doing it." He said.
I titled my head and squinted my eyes, eyeing him closely.
"What? Is there something on my face?" He gave me an overly cute innocent face.
There was something up this man's sleeves.
"I suspect you're cooking up something in your head." I said confidently. There was something fishy about this.
"The only person who's going to be cooking anything is you babe. Your paella is the first thing I want when we get back home." He smirked and brought my palm to his lips while he winked at me.
I really should be worried. I thought, as my questioning gaze never left his.
