Chapter One Hundred and forty nine
Ariana's POV;
"Twins?!" Damien looked like he was about to faint.
He accompanied me for my doctor's appointment as usual and we just found out that we're expecting twins.
I swallowed and blinked rapidly, trying to fight the overjoyed smile that was clawing on to my face.
Someone wanted just one but his sperm had other plans.
"Ariana, I only agreed to having one baby and now we're going to have two of them?! How?" He loosened a few buttons on his shirt.
"I don't have twins in my family so this is definitely your fault." I shrugged, smiling at doctor as he congratulated us.
"Oh well, at least you wouldn't have to bother me for another baby in future." He shrugged.
Well that's what he thought but time would tell if I was going to have more kids or not.
Damien had been the sweetest though. He carried me like an egg just like everyone else back at the house.
Gosh! They wouldn't let me lift a finger after we announced that we were expecting during one of our usual Sunday lunch.
I was going to get fat and lazy if I didn't defy their biddings. Now I knew they were going to increase their efforts to please me when they found out that we're having twins. Everyone wanted to be a godmother of Damien's child or as it is, children.
The battle was between Amy and Fiona while Aiden had officially taken the spot of godfather without argument.
Anyways, first trimester done and dusted.

"None of my clothes fit!" I cried to Damien as soon as he came in to find me sitting on the floor in the closet.
I was already at the end of my second trimester, twenty four weeks gone, twelve more to go.
"But we went shopping last month." He said.
"Well, thee babies you put in me, keep growing and making me fat." I sarcastically retorted before making another cry face.
"I'm so fat and my legs are swollen, I pee so much, I'm so tired of being pregnant!" I lamented, unable to fight the tears that flooded my cheeks.
"Oh my love." Damien crouched down to my level and held my face in his hands, staring into my eyes lovingly.
I expected him to say something sweet and comforting but no, this idiot husband of mine had something sinister in mind.
"I told you so." He smirked.
I smacked his hands of me, hurling insults at him in Spanish.
"You're never going to touch me again after this." I warned him.
He rolled his eyes, confidently asserting that I was just bluffing.
"This could have been avoided but I love the look on you anyway." He held my baby bump and bent over to kiss it.
"Ow!" I exclaimed holding on to my side.
"What happened?" He asked, getting worried. Such a doting husband.
"I felt a kick!" I gasped.
"Are you for real?" His eyes widened.
"Yes!" I placed his large palms on either side of me and lo and behold, they kicked!
Damien looked like he was going to cry.
"Don't give me that face." I said, fighting back my own tears, cause I wouldn't know what to do if we both got emotional.
"I love you." He said kissing my forehead.
"I love you too." I said. "But now all this crying is making me hungry." I said.
"You're such a spoilsport." He groaned. I giggled.
"What do you wanna have?" He asked, pushing my hair to the side.
"I'm craving pizza, some chicken drumsticks and ice cream."
"And you complain about being overweight." He muttered to my hearing. I gasped.
"I'm eating for three you jerk!" I pushed him away.
He fell on his back laughing at my expense.
Jerk!

Third trimester...
My estimated due date was just around the corner. I did not know how to feel. I was nervous about it all. I should have scheduled for a C-section but my silly ass signed up for a natural birth process and now I had to exercise so that my birth canal would be a little bit freer for the D-Day.
I did little runs in the backyard back and forth while they all hyped me up when I could barely carry myself. I was the true definition of heavily pregnant.
"You can do this babe." Damien yelled, jogging in to join me.
"You just got back from work." I said, stopping to catch a breather.
"I'm trying to be a supportive husband. Now let's go."
How sweet.
He took the run with me, patient with how slow I went. I paused in the middle of a lap when I felt a trickle of liquid soak my thigh.
"Babe, what's wrong?"
"I think my water broke." I whispered.
"Oh my God! Her water broke!" He yelled.
It was chaotic after that. People running here and there, yelling instructions to one another.
I screamed as a surge of pain hit my abdominal walls as well as my waist region. This was menstrual cramps raised to power hundred.
I gripped Damien's arm tightly while we slowly made our way towards the door.
"Get the car ready. What are you all standing around for?!" He hollered at no one in particular.
"Deep breaths baby, you'll be fine." His voice went shaky.

Damien's POV;
I was having a frenzy of emotions whirling inside of me although I tried keeping a calm demeanor. We had prepared for this but I didn't think I could handle the thought of her being in so much pain. To worsen the already bad situation, Ariana chose a natural birth instead of the C-section I had advised. How on earth was she going to push out two babies?!
"My waist!" She yelled, startling me out of my worried train of thoughts.
I rubbed on her back with one hand while the other held on to her palm as I guided her out of the house.
I couldn't wait for us to reach the front door just so we could get outside and get into the car.
By the time we got ourselves out, I knew the steps were going to be difficult to climb down from so with all my might, I carried a usually light weight Ariana - as the driver kept the door open - into the vehicle.
She was writhing, moaning and groaning by the time we sped out of the villa.
"Take deep breaths my love,"
"Arghhh, Damien this is all your fault!" She groaned loudly as she leaned her sweaty head on the car window with her eyes shut tightly.
"I beg to differ, I told you not to get pregnant." I stated bluntly, not realizing how much trouble I just put myself in.
"Well when you kept bending me over without thinking about enough protection, what did you expect?!"
It's how she had the strength to argue for me.
Another contraction hit her before I could retort her words.
"I'm gonna kill you after this." She groaned, holding onto her sides.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
"This is so painful." She cried.
"It'll be alright." I held her hand once again.
Finally at the hospital, we were told that her contractions needed to be less time apart before she would be ready for labour.
We had to walk back and forth in the hallway for several minutes. It was the most excruciating walk of my life.
This was the exact same reason why I did not want her getting pregnant in the first place. The nine month journey had been beautiful no doubt, with all the cravings, mood swings, risky sex and all that. It was great, but all the time, I dreaded the birth process and how things changed after it.
With every step she took, I could see the pain in her eyes. My heart could not take it.
When it was time for her to be taken inside, I couldn't go in. I just stood by the doorway, too terrified to step into that place.
"Damien! What are you doing out there? Ariana needs you!" Amy bellowed at me.
I shook my head slowly and repeatedly, taking a step back.
"I can't do it, I can't."
"Oh no." She pinched the bridge of her nose and turned around.
"Aiden!" She yelled.
"What's up?" Aiden scuttled over to her side.
"It's happening." She said.
"What's happening?" I frowned, puzzled as to what she meant.
"You're acting just like I did when we were about to have Sky." He stated a little smugly.
When I thought about it for a second, he was right. I did not like feeling so weak.
"Let's go take a seat." He gestured at the seats situated opposite the room. We took our seats and I had my head down with my palms in a triangle shooting out in front of me.
"Listen, I know exactly how you feel." I felt him place a palm over my shoulder.
No kidding, he definitely had been in my shoes.
"But you can't lose all that courage right now that she needs you the most."
"The woman you love is about to give birth to your first fruits,"
"Don't be so dramatic Aiden." I muttered, rolling my eyes at his daddy pep talk.
"I'm the mature one here, respect that."
"Why cause you're giving me advice?" I snorted.
"No, cause I became a dad before you. You're supposed to be writing down tips on fatherhood from me." He retorted.
"Yeah right." I chortled.
"Now that I've made you feel a little less pressured, you can go in now." He said smugly.
"Thanks man." I gave him a fist bump.
I actually felt way more at ease though not totally out of the tension but I was at least more confident about going to be by her side.
"Alright let's do this."
