Chapter 15 Husky
<Mia>
I timidly called out Ethan's name as I cried.
We were at home, in the living room.
He was still angry. His fist was tightly clenched, and his jaw was set. His eyes had a dark intensity, and his mouth was tight.
I became even more frightened when he cracked his knuckles.
"The fuck?!?"
I jumped at his sudden outburst.
I didn't realize he also cursed. I thought he was a saint.
"What the fuck did he do to you?!" He shouted, his eyes turning red. Was he high?
"Damn it, is he hurting you?!" He angrily questioned, his gaze filled with malice. He had been like this for a while, with a hot temper. He was driving aggressively earlier, and I could hear the screeching of his tires.
"Calm down!" I screamed, scared, while crying. He seemed like a man possessed, consumed by anger.
Thank goodness he arrived earlier before my dad hit me.
"Tell me what the fuck happened a while ago!" He shouted again, his neck veins bulging and his hand clenched. He was wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt, with the sleeves folded up to his elbows.
"Why are you asking me?! You talked to him!"
I pressed myself against the sofa.
I tried to hold back my tears, but Ethan's reaction was terrifying me.
"And what was that, Mia?! Are you hiding something from me?!" His chest heaved, and he was trying to kill me with his gaze.
He approached me, making me even more scared. He was truly frightening.
It turns out that kind-hearted people can be terrifying when they're angry.
"Ethan! You're really scaring me!" I shouted, trembling in fear. I held his hand because I felt like he was about to hurt me at any moment.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
When he opened his eyes, his anger was still there but he’s a bit calm.
"I'm sorry," he apologized, his demeanor now calm.
He sat beside me and ran his fingers through his slightly long hair.
"Did I scare you?" He looked at me, his eyes still red. He took deep breaths, trying to calm himself.
I nodded at him and wiped away my tears.
"Don't get angry, you're scaring me," my voice trembled.
It was only now that I realized I was trembling with fear.
He closed his eyes tightly. I moved away from him slightly and just watched him. He massaged his temples.
"Wife..." he called my name when he opened his eyes.
I flinched as he suddenly held my hand, "don't be scared, I am calming myself. Stay still."
I nodded slowly in response.
Minutes passed, and it seemed like he had calmed down. During those silent minutes, neither of us spoke.
"What happened? Tell me, I want to know," he ordered me seriously. He still hadn't blinked.
I told him the story, and he listened attentively. I couldn't help but cry as I recounted it to him; I change some other parts.
"Hey, stop crying," Ethan said gently. He caressed my hair softly and repeatedly kissed my forehead.
I cried into his shoulder while holding onto him tightly.
"Do you want something? I'll buy it for you," he softly asked me, attempting to loosen my embrace, but I refused. I held onto him tighter, not wanting him to see me like this, crying.
"Mia..." His voice remained the same. Affectionate, gentle, and light. His voice is as soft as his cherry-pink lips.
I cried even harder when he called my name.
"Don't you want to follow your dad?" he suddenly asked, and I felt him kiss the top of my head. "That's for you."
I shook my head in response while still burying my head in his shoulder. I wiped my runny nose on his shirt.
If he hadn't come earlier, I might have been slapped again and kicked out of the house.
He and Dad talked earlier, and I don't know what they discussed. Ethan seemed angry when he saw that scenario earlier.
"I don't want to!" I snapped at him. I wiped my tears forcefully and faced him. I was about to get up from his lap when he didn't let me. He placed both of his hands on my waist to prevent me from leaving.
I stared at him, noticing the bags under his eyes. His nose had just the right amount of height, and his long hair made him look tired. His eyes were hazelnut in color.
"Don't you want to be an architect?" he asked me slowly. He returned to his previous calm state.
I shook my head and pouted, "I was forced to study that, and he was the only one who wanted it because his friend owns a big company and he wants me to work there so he can keep an eye on me."
I was frustrated.
"It's really difficult to study something you don't want." I remembered the struggle I went through back then, and I was fortunate to have a smart classmate and befriended intelligent classmates who helped me cheat. That's also how I passed the board exam because I sought divine intervention.
"Hmmm..." he replied as if remembering something.
"Ethan, I really don't want to work at his friend's company." I complained to him like a child. I pouted like a duck.
I don't know what Dad's plans are. I'm already married, yet he still meddles in my life. He's too nosy; can't he do something worthwhile in his own life?
"Then don't," he answered as if it were that simple. I was summoned and asked to go to my dad friend's house, but I didn't show up because I didn't want to see his friend.
I didn't respond to Ethan anymore because he wouldn't understand my situation. He also didn't know that my family would force me and make sure that Dad's wishes prevail.
Angrily, I got up from his lap. He looked at me with a furrowed brow.
"Hey, are you mad?" His eyebrows formed a single line.
"You idiot! Do you even know why?!" I insulted him.
His forehead furrowed even more, "What did I do?" He asked with a clueless expression, genuinely having no idea.
"Don't follow me, okay?! You're getting on my nerves!" I said through gritted teeth and moved away from him.
"Babe, I didn't do anything. If I did something or said something offensive, I'm sorry, okay?" He surrendered, his face pleading.
"I just need some fresh air! Don't follow me!" I gritted my teeth.
I forgot that I was supposed to meet Jarold today.
My mood suddenly change because of his reaction.
He is my husband he should understand my situation! But he is acting innocent!
