Chapter 36 Rush
<Mia>
I felt resentful towards him because I felt suffocated. I wanted to go back to our house and sleep in my room. I missed the gloomy vibes there.
I heard the door open and close, but I wasn't sure which door it was, whether it was the main door or the closet door that connected to our room.
I eventually fell asleep without realizing that he was beside me, unlike what he used to do before.
I woke up at lunchtime, and he wasn't beside me anymore. I didn't even notice that we slept side by side. I looked at his spot on the bed.
Did he really sleep next to me?
I thought about the complicated situation, already planning what to do for the day before deciding to get up. As I was about to stand up, Rose suddenly entered with a tray of food.
"Good morning, madam!" she cheerfully greeted me with a wide smile.
"Sir told me to make sure you finish what he prepared for you," she said, placing the tray on the bedside table. I just stared at the food.
There was a bowl of soup and a fish dish.
"I don't like that!" I retorted.
I noticed a glass of milk on the tray too.
"When was that milk prepared?" I asked, identifying it.
"Earlier this morning. I tried waking you up, but sir said to let you sleep," Rose politely explained, standing in front of me.
"Who made it?"
I was hoping it was him.
"Pina did, madam."
Is he angry with me? So, he has the right to be angry with both of us? I should be the one angry because he's the one hurting me. His behavior is becoming demonic.
"Remove those, I don't wanna eat. Leave me alone," I rudely said, lying down again and pulling the blanket over me.
"But madam, sir said you should eat," Rose insisted.
"I said I don't want to!" I yelled angrily at her, "get rid of it! And throw the milk away too!" I said through gritted teeth.
"But madam, sir specifically asked me to-"
"Do you want me to fire you?! Get out of here and never come into my room again!" I shouted, and I knew my voice reached outside.
Rose looked frightened.
"P-please, madam! Sir will get angry at me!" she pleaded.
I glared at her.
"Please, madam! We'll all be in trouble if you go hungry again."
"Well, then feed all of it to him!" I threw the food away. The dishes and rice scattered on the tiles, and the glass of milk from Milan shattered. My favorite glass.
"Madam!" Rose gasped in shock.
"Wait, I'll call sir!" she said hurriedly, calling Pina to clean up the mess.
"Get out of here, all of you!" I went on a rampage, throwing the pillows around.
I shouted, "Go ahead! Try to come near, and I'll stab you with this!" I threatened Pina, holding a piece of the broken glass close to her.
Pina looked scared and didn't know what to say. "Madam-"
"Try to touch one of them, and I'll blame you for it! Ethan will scold you for - your perfect boss!" I pointed the broken glass towards my pulse.
I wasn't thinking clearly anymore. I wasn't thinking at all.
"One!" I threatened as she took a step forward.
How much did Ethan pay them to be this loyal to him?
"Two!" I pressed the glass against my skin.
"Madam, please don't do this! Don't hurt yourself!" Rose pleaded, tightly gripping her phone.
Both of them looked nervous.
Pina didn't listen to me, so I made a small cut on my skin.
"Madam! My God! We'll get scolded again by sir!" Rose was about to approach me, her hands trembling.
"Don't come near me!" I threatened, pressing the glass even harder. It stung, and blood started to flow.
"Get out of here!" I said frantically, throwing whatever I could grab from the table at them.
Pina seemed scared of me, and she stood close to Rose.
"Madam, please calm down! Sir is on his way!" Rose said.
I stopped for a moment, and the tears started flowing uncontrollably.
*
"What the fucking fuck?!" Ethan's voice boomed as he saw my condition.
I looked up, my eyes swollen and teary, his hair messy, and his expression dark. He seemed to be in a hurry, wearing his coat as if he rushed here from work.
I knew he hurried because he only wears his coat when he's at work.
"What the fuck happened?!" He shouted, veins popping on his neck.
I cried even harder at what he did.
"Sir, w-we didn't do anything wrong! Madam hurt herself!" Pina said in fear, her voice trembling.
"Why the fuck did you cut your skin, huh?" Ethan angrily turned to me.
"Maids, call the guards and tell them to remove everything here!" He ordered, clenching his jaw.
He didn't come near me. He usually gets close to me when he sees me crying.
"What the fuck is your fucking problem, Mia?!" I heard nothing but curses from him.
He looked like he could kill with his anger.
He stood at the door, his gaze dark and his jaw clenched. He was far from me, and I was facing him, crying.
"Make it faster!" he demanded.
The veins on his neck became more visible.
The maids and guards panicked at his shout. He was really frightening when he gets angry. The saying that you shouldn't anger the kind ones is true.
Pina almost slipped.
"That's mine!" I stopped one of the guards when he tried to take my blanket and put it in a big box.
It was my blanket, the only thing I brought here because I got used to it. It was the blanket I've had since I was a child.
The guard looked at Ethan as if asking for permission.
"Put that too in the box," Ethan said lifelessly.
"Pina, get the first aid kit. Treat her wounds," he coldly ordered. He wasn't the one who would treat me? My chest felt tight.
"O-okay, sir."
Pina left, and this time she slipped on her way out.
"Stupid! Tsk!" Ethan muttered.
I suddenly burst into laughter, which made my runny nose even worse.
"Make it faster! You are five people cleaning this room, but you're so slow! Even a snail is faster than you all!"
"Get out!" Ethan shouted, dismissing them once they finished.
Pina finally arrived and treated my wound.
"I don't want it!" I said, throwing a tantrum, "Get out of here!" I pushed her, causing her to fall on the bed.
"Mia!" Ethan called out angrily. I looked at him and cried.
Why wasn't he the one treating me? He was the one at fault here. I wouldn't have done this if he hadn't angered me.
"Stop acting like a brat!" He said in frustration, messing up his own hair.
"I hate you!" I was angry, and I wanted to provoke him. His jaw clenched, and he tightened his fist.
"Get out of here!" I told Pina, feeling sorry for her as she held back her tears.
"I hate you to death! I wish you weren't my husband!" I said to Ethan.
"What?!" He didn't seem to like what I said and got angry.
"Pina, get out of here!" He angrily ordered the woman, who quickly left, afraid of being scolded again.
"What the fuck did you say?!" He came closer, furious. "And who do you want to be your husband? That asshole?!"
I didn't answer and just cried.
The wound on my wrist was painful and bleeding even more. The blanket was soaked in blood.
I flinched when he suddenly grabbed my injured wrist.
He heaved a sigh, trying to calm himself, but he still looked angry.
He took the first aid kit and started treating my wound. As he tended to me, his jaw clenched tightly, and his palms felt cold.
I couldn't help but sob as he finished.
"Stop crying and eat your lunch," he said sternly and authoritatively.
"I don't want to!" I protested.
He let out a deep sigh, as if trying to control himself from exploding.
"Listen to me. I know you enjoy our fights, but please... please, this time, just listen to me. I'm really tired, Mia," he pleaded. His eyes were begging me to cooperate, and his disheveled hair and furrowed brow showed how worn-out he was.
So, it's my fault that he's tired? Who asked him to come home? I don't need him! He should just leave!
"Please, just listen to me for now," he continued, his voice weary. "Let's fight later after I finish my work."
I could sense the exhaustion in his voice.
"I don't like Rose's cooking! It's too salty, and sometimes it has no taste!" I complained.
"Then, I'll ask Pina to cook," he said, exhaling deeply.
"I don't like her cooking either!" I grumbled.
"Then, I'll call my brother's chef."
He massaged his temple, trying to calm himself.
"No!" I protested with a stomp of my foot.
"It's almost 1 pm, stop being stubborn and eat your lunch," he said firmly.
"I told you, I don't want her cooking! Can't you understand? I won't eat!" I retorted.
"No! You'll eat lunch whether you like it or not... don't try my patience, wife," he said with an unreadable expression.
"You cook then!" I shouted, trying to mask my embarrassment. I needed to act angry to avoid revealing the real reason.
I saw him give a slight smile, trying to hide it.
"Okay, what do you want me to cook?" He calmed down and returned to his usual self.
"Anything! Make sure it's yummy," I demanded.
"Yeah, I know. My wife doesn't want sour and salty foods."
Hmmp!
"I'll try to make it fast. Wait for me here, okay?" His voice became gentle again. He kissed my forehead before leaving, just like he used to do.
While waiting for him, I started thinking deeply if we're already okay since he's calm now and we're no longer yelling at each other. I realized that we would suddenly make up without me doing anything, as he always finds a way to reconcile.
What a lucky person I am.
It was already twelve o'clock when we finished eating, and he fed me. He did his work in our room, currently attending a virtual meeting. I overheard the voices of the people he was talking to on his laptop screen. I sneaked a peek and noticed that he was the only one absent from the meeting. I felt guilty; it seemed like it was my fault. But no, it's his fault! He was the one who left the meeting.
The house was boring without any entertainment. All the decorations and photo albums were taken away. I also didn't have my cellphone since he took it from me and hasn't returned it yet.
Even though I wanted to bother him, I still felt embarrassed. I didn't want to draw attention to myself during his meetings, or else it might go viral.
I wasted my time watching movies, and when night came, I decided to go downstairs to see the moon and stars.
"Ma'am, where are you going?" Rose asked as I passed by her.
I looked around and gave her a plastic smile.
"You are not allowed to go out, according to sir," she added.
