An Enraged Wolf
London
Pissed?
No, no, no, no.
Angry?
Ha! Don't play with me.
I gripped the edge of the mahogany table, grounding my teeth so tightly that I wouldn't have been surprised if one broke out due to the force. My fingers dug into the table, ripping through its well-refined wood in seconds.
My canines bared themselves as my eyes fought between red and gray. Fuyu was blazing with hot flames of fury. I was struggling to keep him in because if I let him out in our state of rage, it might be an immediate massacre. Everyone present in this fucking room might die, and they knew it.
I chuckled darkly, raising my head to peer at my Gamma and Beta, who were afraid. The fact that they weren't whimpering was because of my most sacred rule: warriors stay tough in the face of danger. One whimper from them, and I might fish their brains out.
I ran my tongue over my upper teeth, taking a sharp inhale as I lowered my head, my tendrils and escaped locks falling over my face. I stood to my full height of 6'5 inches, hearing my bones crack as my body twitched. Fuyu was seriously fighting for control.
"Let me out!" He growled at me, thirsty for blood.
"Down boy!" I said this to him impatiently.
"I'm not a mutt!" He growled at me warningly.
I sighed, rolling my neck with closed eyes and taking a sharp inhale of air. I opened my eyes, red flashing in my orbs as I stared Cane down. The sleeves of my black silk shirt were rolled up, the first two buttons of my shirt were left open, and the wolf pendant that I had inherited from my father was peeking at all who dared to look.
I was still processing his report. How on earth can three fucking Lycah warriors returning from procuring goods get ambushed and gruesomely murdered? How was that fucking possible? An ambush? Hell no. My pack held secrecy to heart, meaning not many ears caught wind of activities as delicate as such. The mere thought of what Fuyu was losing his cool about was making my head twitch.
"There is a fucking traitor here." Fuyu growled.
See, my pack members prioritized secrecy, but I dwelled in it, and because of that, intricate decisions were kept in the knowledge of a selected few and most times myself.
I found myself chuckling as the report crossed my mind. I briskly approached my bar, pouring myself a glass of scorching hot whiskey and downing it in one gulp. I sniffled as I poured myself another glass, only taking a little gulp from it before pausing to say, "I'm sorry, but could you repeat what you just said?"
Cane stole a glance at Reece, who looked away. It was sad to be at the receiving end of my seething rage, which was growing by the second. He cleared his throat, keeping his hands folded behind his back. I was radiating my anger as my aura flowed mercilessly out of me. I could see Reece trying to keep his cool and maneuver it, but it was a difficult task, judging by his subtle groans and wavering steps.
Cane opened his mouth to speak but choked and let out a cough as a burst of energy came from my paused form, which stood with a filled glass in my hands, stirring it calmly while I waited for a reply.
"They were ambushed by who we suspect to be the rogue bandits that have been terrorizing the trade and travel paths. We caught one, but he hasn't said anything to confirm our suspicion or deny it yet. He hasn't even given us his name." Cane stated.
"He appeared to have sworn the oath of secrecy and would rather choose death over talking, no matter how deadly you might appear. Also, judging by his looks, he should be no less than eighteen, my king." Reece added.
My glass smashed in my hands as I listened to him, a deadly roar tearing from my throat. Rogue bandits on my goods? That had to be a joke.
"Mmmm. He won't talk, no?" I sniffled, inhaling sharply as I rubbed my neck with closed eyes, trying to keep Fuyu in check.
"Someone tipped them off on the whereabouts of your goods because the timing was perfect, and minus you and your Gamma, Beta, and seven warriors, of whom three are now dead, I say the mastermind is..." My wolf stated this, but I cut him off instantly.
"I'm not dumb, you know? If you can tell them, so can I, and it saddens me just as much that I'm not digging my claws into someone's heart right now, but all in due time." I rasped.
"When the little mutt gets here, you must give me the satisfaction of slowly killing him." Fuyu grinned.
"I'd handle that; I think you'd prefer to handle the traitor." I smirked as the huge creature grinned wider at my proposal.
"Who found them?" I asked, cutting Fuyu off. I could hear him growling at me for my disrespect, but I was too pissed to care.
"I did, My king." A young man piped, trying to hide from my intense gaze his shaking body, but it was too late.
I eyed him down, ignoring my blood that stained the glass as I poured myself a glass. "For fucking sake, stand straight, boy. Lycans aren't jokes, you know."
"Yes, my king." He gulped, adjusting his height.
He avoided eye contact with me, and I hummed in response. I was going to ask the obvious follow-up question, but it would be too easy. I was going to let the motherfucker expose himself.
"Could the Omega be behind this?" Fuyu asked, and I rolled my eyes at him, knowing he was just looking for any possible means to certify her death.
The fact that she managed to break into my pack doesn't mean she could be a traitor. She doesn't look dangerous; if anything, she was the one in danger for being here.
"Fuyu, I know you're smarter than this, and you already know who the mastermind is." I spoke, and he scoffed.
"That's for you to say, but let me tell you this: I don't trust that freaking mate. Besides, I don't fucking want a mate. Why don't we just kill her and get this mate bond over with? I hate feeling a light tug on my chest and hearing her wolf try to reach out to me. That wolf of hers is the most annoying bitch I have ever met, and I don't know why she can't give up and quit being desperate." He growled angrily.
"I know, buddy, but killing her is not the solution, as we don't know if that can harm us in the future. Why don't we keep doing what we are doing by not giving a fuck about her till she gives up and accepts the rejection so we can both move on?" I drawled, hoping he would like my idea.
"Urgh! Your easygoing nature makes me sick." Fuyu dragged a paw over my consciousness, and a sharp ringing set off in my ears.
"Ouch! Why did you do that?" I growled at him.
He growled back in response, hating that I was restricting him from emerging to the surface. Boy, I had a very vindictive and petty wolf.
"What did you call me?"
"I know you heard me, Fuyu. Stop fucking with me and let me handle the matter at hand." I retorted.
"Why don't I painfully torture them all until someone talks, and trust me, they will," Fuyu grinned, and I immediately bought his idea, but I knew just who to get the truth out of.
"Reece…"
"Yes, my Alpha?" He stepped forward.
"Bring the lad here, hm."
He nodded and brusquely left, leaving only Cane and the young warrior in the room. It infuriated me that the young man was shivering, but I didn't blame him; I wasn't exactly the sanest, and my unpredictability was like walking on thin ice.
"Whiskey?" I asked them as I poured a glass from a different bottle, ignoring the stings from my injured hand as it healed from the glass cuts.
Cane drew away his gaze, fearing what I was up to. I approached the young man with a fiendish smile etched on my face.
"Killian, wasn't it?" I asked, and he quickly shook his head while trembling as my arm slung over his shoulder.
"Have a drink, yes?"
He eyed the drink in my hand before sending a scared look towards Cane, who looked away briefly. He knew he couldn't refuse me; I'd snap his neck the instant he did.
Killian's trembling fingers wrapped around the glass, shaking as he took the glass from my hand and took a little sip. He gulped down half the contents anxiously and offered me the glass with a sour expression on his face.
I took the glass from him, swallowing it down in one go. I was barely done when Killian fell to the ground, screaming and clawing at his neck as green veins crawled up his neck. His eyes danced between orange and brown as he choked and gasped for breath. I gazed at him from where I was standing, neatly pitying him. It was his punishment for incompetence.
"My king, please." Cane begged, looking at me, alarmed.
I shot Cane an unfazed side glance, which made him stop begging. He swallowed his words and lowered his gaze. I stared at the boy who was down on his knees, black blood trailing down his eyes as the green veins spread.
"Tch! Don't give me that look; you should know by now that Fuyu has rapid healing abilities and a great amount of immunity to certain poisons. I'm no ordinary Lycan, mate." I snarled at Cane. I understand he was concerned about me, but he was underestimating my wolf potential with his doubts.
The boy on the ground wheezed, wrapping a hand around his neck as he fought for breath.
"Please, my Alpha, I didn't do it. When we were heading back with the goods secured, James stopped the truck, saying something about paying a visit to his m-mate since she lived close by. We didn't see a problem with it, so we let him. I decided to go take a piss, and when I came back, they were dead, and three wolves were getting away with the crates." He rushed out.
Mate? I lost my goods because of a freaking mate? What? The rage in me grew into an inferno that threatened to consume me whole, burning my rationality and control to ashes.
I let out a roar as Fuyu tore to the surface, baring his teeth at Cane, who knelt instantly. He took menacing steps toward Cane.
"You're beginning to not take your post seriously. You're supposed to train warriors, not bloody fuckers. Incompetence is becoming a routine, Gamma. Firstly, you know how much I despise being aware of the mating ceremony that you all fucking hold annually. I let it go because I believed that since you and the Beta were fully in the know, you'd chaperone it and let a godforsaken woman sneak into my lands! And now, your warriors can't even retrieve goods for me? What exactly are you training then, Gamma?" Fuyu growled.
Cane gasped on the floor as he felt suffocated by the aura that consumed the room. His eyes flashed silver as his wolf, Chalo, came to the surface, saying, "My king, forgive me."
Fuyu chuckled dangerously: "Someone is going to pay for this, and it might be you."
Chalo gulped in fear as he knew Fuyu wasn't joking. He meant every word he said.
The door banged open, and Reece dragged in a struggling, breathing boy. He stumbled a little when his eyes met Fuyu's red ones. Reece immediately pushed the idiot to his knees, bowing his head in respect.
I eyed the cowering boy, who took a step back as Fuyu tilted his head at him.
"I've been waiting for you, lad; welcome to your death." He said it with a maniacal grin.
