FUYU
Blaire White
I had no idea what was going on, but we were called to the training grounds along with every pack member. My heart was beating frantically as I tried to conjure up possible scenarios that could warrant this sudden summons.
I looked at Emmett weakly with confusion written all over my face, but she shook her head in reply and gave me a look that said, I have no fucking idea why we are all assembled here.
It's been hours since we've been standing under the dark night, waiting for whoever summoned us to appear before us. It felt like a king was coming to claim his throne. Hera has been quiet since my last conversation with her, and it annoyed me.
I was feeling dizzy and very tired, and I craved my bed at the very least. The anxiety eating me up wasn't helping the nauseous feeling either. I placed a hand over my mouth, trying to keep the bile down my throat. Emmett stood beside me, looking at me with concern while rubbing circles on my back as she held my pale hands.
Right now, she is the sweetest and kindest person I know, and Hera said she wasn't nice. How ungrateful.
"Hmph!" Hera rolled her eyes at my statement, and I returned it.
I was really getting worried about my deteriorating condition, and I was seriously considering taking Emmett's advice and seeing Dr. Anais. I had a feeling Hera had a clue about what was going on with me but was keeping quiet about it. I had slight bleeding for the past two days that came with horrible cramps, and to say I was ecstatic to see my period would be an understatement.
Hera rolled her eyes again before retreating to sit in a corner of my mind. Sometimes I wondered what her problem was. Most times, she could be the most moody wolf I've ever met, and she's cryptic too.
My beef with Hera was paused when everyone started bowing their heads. Emmett gritted her teeth in anger like she was resisting but nevertheless bowed, and I followed suit, not having enough time to understand what was going on. I felt a familiar presence that stirred something within me, and unknowingly, a smile graced my lips.
He was here! But something seemed extremely different.
His aura wasn't calm; it was rather suffocating and thick as it claimed the atmosphere, making me cough a little. I was no Lycan, so I couldn't withstand the pheromones he was releasing. I could barely withstand that of Alpha Weiss when he was still alive, let alone a fucking Lycan king.
I could feel his Beta presence and another strong presence, which I perceived to belong to his Gamma. I felt heads rise and joined them, gently raising mine to see London looking sinfully gorgeous with his hair grazing his face. His eyes were staring without emotion at the crowd, and beside him were Reece and a redhead.
I looked down to see a bleeding young man wheezing on his knees with his head hung low. He looked weak and in need of urgent medical attention, but I was sure that was the last thing he was going to receive if death didn't come sooner.
The redhead came forward and cleared his throat.
"I believe you all know that for the Alpha to leave all the important things he is doing and be here wasting his precious time, there has to be an issue that needs to be immediately addressed." His thick voice boomed.
I heard hushed mutters as he took a little pause before growling, enlisting abrupt silence from everyone.
"The mating ceremony has been brought to the Alpha's attention since it began, and now he's rendered a final warning against it. For any mating ceremony intended to be held, the planners and the attendees will be considered traitors for going against the King, and they will be immediately executed!"
Loud mutters erupted instantly, everyone having something to say about the recent news. On the other hand, I was confused. Could mating ceremonies be banned? Was that even possible? Well, apparently, from what I just heard, it was, and I considered it unfair.
I glanced at London, who met my gaze and looked away like I didn't exist. My heart ached at how mean he was being, but I promised Hera to try my best on my part as well.
"Cane, that's enough!"
One simple sentence from him, and everyone grew painfully silent. I could hear my own heartbeats nearly echoing how silent everything became. The chirping crickets and breeze that sent the leaves of trees dancing on the branches made the silence more pronounced.
His boots thudded on the pavilion as he made his way to the middle. I could feel the fear rolling off everyone as they bowed their heads in his graceful presence.
I peeked at him, watching him make a gesture with his hands that made everyone raise their heads. The wind blew across his black hair and across his face as he stood with a stained handkerchief, cleaning his hands.
He looked up, and gone were the steel-gray orbs I loved; instead, red glared at all of us, and I heard scared gasps. I believed that was his wolf presence.
He signaled at Reece, who dragged the bloodied mess of a boy over to him. Reece moved behind four spaces, leaving my mate to stand over the boy.
"I have been lenient with you all. You disobey me countlessly, leading to a strange irritation in my land." His eyes met mine immediately, and I gulped, feeling terrified.
I've never met his wolf before, and now I understand why people are terrified of him. He exuded mystery and promised danger with an aura that was thicker than London's. His eyes were astute and were sure to never miss a single movement. He looked calculative and too calm for all my wolf could sense.
"Is that his wolf, Fuyu?" I had to ask my wolf again for confirmation as fear filled my guts.
Hera nodded. "The white conqueror in human form. A bloodthirsty beast."
I gulped, staring at the powerful man standing before me. "I don't even want to imagine what his wolf would look like when he transformed."
Emmett rubbed circles on my hands as we anticipated his next words.
"You all have been doing as you pleased in secret, and I'm beginning to wonder why when you should all know that I see all. Nothing goes unnoticed by me. The fact that I choose to let my representatives handle things in my stead does not mean that I'm stupid. It means I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to every single person I have under me, both in this land and others spread across." He continued calmly as I listened to every word he said with care.
"Yet, some people choose to call me a fool. To those meeting me for the first time, I am Fuyu, the wolf of your Alpha. Personally, I'd prefer to break a few necks to prove my points and get things over with each time, but London always wants an immediate solution instead and goes against me. He's more peaceful than I am, and it is a tremendous blessing to you all because, on the other hand, I am not that generous." Fuyu glanced my way before resting his gaze on Emmett, who coughed and sank to her knees.
The people besides us shifted a little as we stood under his scrutiny, and I fought hard to stop myself from hyperventilating. He looked away before continuing.
"To cut to the chase, I'm here to set a mere example of what happens when you go against me." He finished an octave lower, and he raised the head of the bleeding boy, which made me nearly vomit at the horrific sight.
His left eye was dangling by a nerve, and I could see part of his skull peeking through the spot where flesh was missing. Emmett threw up beside me, and so did others. His nose was barely on his face.
I can't believe Fuyu did this.
I watched with horror as Eliza was dragged out, screaming and kicking in the restrictive hold of Reece. She was trembling as she was made to kneel in front of the Alpha.
Fuyu chuckled before reaching out a clawed finger to trace her face, pushing strands of hair away from her face. "Eliza, I believe you know why you're here, no?"
I could feel his rage as her body shook, delaying a response to his question. She was made to kneel beside the disfigured male while another male was dragged by Cane to kneel beside her. The boy had green veins spread across his face and visible parts of his body. He looked to be in serious pain.
Emmett was suddenly grabbed by Cane, and my rapid breathing kicked in. She was screaming in his hold. Why were they taking her? What did she do?
"Blaire, help me. I didn't do anything." She sobbed.
I instinctively reached out to hold his hands, stopping him from taking her further.
"L-let her go! S-she didn't do anything." I begged, stammering.
I heard the crowd gasp and begin to mutter at my sudden disrespect. Cane eyed my shaking hands as I fought for my friend.
"Do you dare defy me, Omega?" He gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing silver.
I looked towards the crying Emmett, and my resolve solidified. I couldn't let her die like that. She was a friend, and I'd fight for her.
"She's innocent." I spat it out.
I could feel Fuyu's burning gaze on me, and I gulped. I knew I would be punished for my disobedience, but regardless, I'd still fight for a friend. She was the only one I had to talk to, and a sweet soul at that. If they took her, I'd lose my mind from loneliness. I didn't care what they'd say she did; I could swear that it wasn't anything to warrant death.
"Bring her here, Cane. She's part of the warning I'm about to tender now." Fuyu said, glaring at me.
Wait what?
