My mate is a cold-blooded monster
Blaire White
My heart sank at his words. oh, no.
Before I could process what was happening and say anything, I felt strong hands suddenly grip my arm, pulling me away along with Emmett.
My heartbeat was threatening to burst in my chest as I tried to peel the death grip off of me. I was dragged to the pavilion and made to kneel by the Alpha's left, while Emmett was made to kneel beside the green-veined boy and some other unknown boy who was disfigured.
"Do you know why they are lined up here?" He swept a keen gaze over the crowd, and I looked at his face with disbelief.
"No? Then I'd tell you," he said, moving towards the disfigured boy and forcing his head up. He pulled his finger up and placed a boot-clad foot on his pelvic region.
He seized his finger, and I heard a crunch, followed by a scream, and gagged. He had pulled his finger off and smashed his dick while at it.
Oh, moon goddess, that must be worse than death.
"Does it hurt?" He asked the weak boy, who said nothing but cried loudly in pain with tears and sweat all over his face.
"He stole from me, you know." Fuyu said to the quiet crowd:
"Rogue or not, I don't care. What's mine is mine, and I don't tolerate thievery of any kind. I hope you all understand." He growled, then snapped the boy's neck in an instant, ripping his head off his neck.
I could hear the squeaking of flesh and blood. I struggled so much to turn my gaze away, but I was forced to witness the sight by a hand holding my head in place. I threw up immediately, seeing the lifeless head roll toward me. The smell of blood and the sight of it were traumatizing.
He moved to Eliza, who was frozen on the spot, and gripped her with a fist full of her hair. The crowd watched silently as he trailed a claw down her face in a predatory manner.
"You had potential, but you made the worst mistake by organizing an ambush on my property. If you wanted so badly to be Gamma, you should have said so rather than trying to frame Cane."
I blinked, shocked, and looked at the defeated look on her face. I dipped my tongue to moisten my dry lips as I processed the words that came out of Fuyu's mouth. She plotted against the Alpha? Was that how badly she wanted to be the Gamma? Unbelievable.
She sniffled, tears trailing down her cheeks, and she gazed up at him with fear written all over her face, knowing what was to come.
"I trained every day of my life to take over as Gamma, but then you wake up one day and give my life's training to someone who doesn't even deserve it. What was my offense? Because I'm a female?" She screamed out loud, almost deafening my ears.
Fuyu seemed the least bit fazed by her rants, while the audience gasped in shock just like I had. I stared at her, feeling sorry for her. She felt cheated out of everything she worked for, and it was sad. I knew I'd feel sad if I were in her shoes, but going ahead to frame someone despite knowing how your Alpha operated was just cruel. She had called death upon herself.
"Oh? Is that so?" Fuyu said with a mocking gaze.
"You should have just stayed sick! Why did you have to wake up? Why did you have to destroy everything I had tried to make perfect? I deserved to be the gamma of this pack." She yelled at him.
Fuyu took menacing steps towards her, and she visibly swallowed, scooting back. In an instant, he was behind her, wrapping her hair around his hands. He gripped it hard while she screamed and thrashed in his hold, turning red. He leaned down to her ear and whispered low enough to be heard.
"This is why I didn't make you Gamma. I had a gut feeling you couldn't be trusted. I don't trust you, and I certainly do not appreciate traitors! Now say hello to the moon goddess for me when you get there."
Instantaneously, he pulled her hair with brute force, and he jerked off her head, digging out her beating heart while at it. Eliza dropped dead immediately, and he moved away from her, inching closer to the edge. He held the heart up and squished it, and I could feel myself being so close to passing out from the gruesome death scene I'd twice witnessed in one night.
He moved to the green-veined boy, who was shaking frantically.
"Please, n-no I didn't do a-anything." He sobbed.
"You didn't. This is to Cane and every other incompetent soldier: when you work for me, you work for me. No distractions." He faced the trembling boy.
"Don't worry, I'd give you an easier death." He rasped and did as he promised.
He snapped his neck in the blink of an eye, and everyone gasped. Emmett cried out immediately, screaming and wailing.
"He was my mate!" She kept screaming as she rolled on the floor.
"Do I care?" Fuyu asked without the least bit of emotion on his face.
I gasped at the revelation, and so did others. Emmett had a mate, and she didn't tell me about it. I couldn't even begin to understand her pain after watching her mate get murdered right before her eyes.
She cried out painfully, dwelling in agony. I know I felt torn apart when Sinclair died, but I could tell that what I felt wouldn't even scratch the surface of what she was feeling at the moment.
His bone-chilling reaction shook me further to the core. How could he be so cold and unfeeling? What kind of monster was he? I was silently questioning the moon goddess about her choice of a mate for me. How was I supposed to live with that for the rest of my life?
Right, he had already rejected me on the spot, so I was just fooling myself by expecting some change in him, but even at that... still... wasn't he a living being? Where was his heart? I was getting sick just from witnessing this.
"He didn't deserve to die; he never disobeyed you." She wept.
Fuyu arched a brow at her before facing the terrified audience. From the looks on their faces, three executions in one night were a very tough sight to stomach.
"Let this be a warning to everyone. Firstly, I do not tolerate traitors. I snuff you out and kill you on the spot... Two, incompetence is a no-no. When carrying out an order for me, follow it to the core. The mission always comes before everything else, mate or no mate. Thirdly, this is for the warriors; disobedience is punishable by death Beware so you don't end up dying like a chicken!" He said that and turned to leave before Reece spoke up, stopping him on his track.
"My Alpha, what about those two?" He pointed at Emmett and me.
"Bring the blonde to my office; I have something to discuss with her."
"And the other one?"
His eyes drifted to my pleading ones. I was trying to reach out to his humanity. The red faded, leaving steel-gray eyes that scanned me intensely, and a jolt of energy traveled to my heart. This was the mate bond pulling me to him.
He looked away, resting his eyes on Cane, who was waiting patiently for his command. I felt my fear sink at his rejection, which I can't seem to get used to.
"She disobeyed your orders, not mine. What do you consider a worthy punishment minus death?" Fuyu raised an eyebrow, and Cane dropped his gaze on my pale form and smirked.
"Fifty whips with the knout should teach her a lesson."
I heard Emmett gasp in fear before screaming out. Knout?
"No, she's sick. Don't use it on her; it could bring her to the brink of death." Emmett sobbed harder, looking at him with teary eyes.
I had no idea what the knout was, but from the visible reaction from everyone, it was awful. I glance at my mate, growing scared. I could tell he knew what was coming for me, and I knew he heard Emmett reveal that I was sick. He wasn't going to let them hurt me, right? I had hope in my eyes as I tried to appeal to him through the mate bond. I knew he could hear me.
"Please don't do this." I begged, but he only blinked at me before turning his back.
"Do whatever you want." He muttered.
My heart shattered as I watched him walk away without looking back, like I was non-existent to him. I couldn't hear anything else as a sharp ringing erupted in my ear. I pushed my hands over my ears as I let out a piercing cry, hyperventilating as everything grew fuzzy. I couldn't take this anymore; I was in so much pain.
I stared at the bodies on the floor, and bile rose to my throat while I struggled to keep my consciousness. His retreating figure came into sight, and the pain in my heart intensified. He left me here. He left me to face danger even as his mate. He didn't care about me.
"Blaire, please breathe." Hera said worriedly.
He doesn't fucking care. He doesn't fucking care. Noooo! How could he?
"Blaire, please calm down; your heart is beating too fast." Hera spoke again.
I could barely hear her; my consciousness was fading as the ringing intensified. I could see Emmett rushing to me, but it was too late, as my body had hit the ground, not caring that I was lying in my own vomit. My consciousness slipped away as one word stuck in my head.
"My mate is a cold-blooded monster." I muttered as my whole world went dark.
