His Objective
London:
I stared at the woman in his hands with widened eyes, appalled and filled with rapid-growing dread as I noticed the blood that trailed down her legs, the paleness of her skin, and that very profound smell of fucking decay. Blaire that I knew never smelled like that... What happened to her?
As I unfolded the scene before me, I couldn't shake the unsettling realisation that something had tragically altered Blaire. The air was heavy with a sense of dread as I grappled with the mystery of her transformation.
I cautiously approached, my heart pounding in sync with the gravity of the situation. Blaire's vacant eyes met mine, devoid of the warmth and familiarity I once knew. Questions lingered in the air, unanswered and haunting, as I tried to unravel the enigma of her unsettling metamorphosis.
Fuyu turned to glare menacingly at Nayeli, who growled in retaliation. He eyed Fuyu down with equal contempt; both were engaged in a quiet feud, while I had my eyes still stuck on her. She looked so delicate, so fragile, like a flower in the garden. Her face was devoid of any emotion, but I could sense pain and unrest. She was troubled.
My heart skipped a beat, a weird sensation engulfing me as my ears listened for the faint heartbeats that I recently realised belonged to my children, my breaths hitching when I couldn't hear anything. I could feel and sense a certain darkness flowing from her, and it filled me with chills. There was something wrong with her, and I had a very bad feeling about it.
Dread intensified as I grappled with the unsettling connection between Fuyu's menacing demeanour, Nayeli's defensive growls, and the enigmatic aura surrounding the fragile figure of the troubled woman before me.
With each passing moment, the silence pressed on, broken only by the haunting absence of the children's heartbeats. A chill ran down my spine, urging me to delve into the mystery shrouding Fuyu and the disconcerting energy that enveloped her. The air crackled with an impending revelation, and I couldn't shake the ominous feeling that the truth held a profound darkness.
I was shocked at how I was feeling because I never really expected myself to care for Blaire; I wasn't even sure what I thought of her anymore. I never wanted a mate and chose to reject her instantly, but then it intrigued me when she chose not to accept the rejection, even after I made sure she saw my devilish side. She chose to stay even after being subjected to my cruelty.
The echoes of rejection and cruelty now mingled with a growing awareness of the unexpected connection that had woven itself between us. Her steadfastness, despite witnessing my devilish side, unfolded a narrative I hadn't foreseen.
I was a monster, a leader with less emotions; I liked no one, especially women. I could barely stand the sight of them, but I did find a few attractive. But then I found myself getting drawn to her—her body, her voice, her delicate features, her silky, smooth skin. She was capturing my attention, and whereas I had made the decision to keep her as a plaything, yesterday changed everything.
In the midst of this emotional labyrinth, I found myself questioning not only my feelings towards Blaire but also the unforeseen complexities that had emerged between us. The choice to reject a mate had given way to an intricate dance of emotions, leaving me to grapple with the intricacies of a connection I never sought, yet one that seemed to persist against all odds.
So it was safe to say that I was perplexed about what to do with her now. The idea of being a father was so foreign, and whenever I remembered my old man, it sickened me because I was very certain that I'd be worse than him. And the sad fact was that it scared me deep down. It made my heart skip a beat due to anxiety and fear.
But now, seeing her look so injured and in danger, I wasn't sure if it was my resolution not to our hurt children that was kicking in or something, but one thing was sure: I was afraid for the children and also for... her.
Nayeli was about to say something snarky when both our ears perked up at the loud groans, followed by things crashing to the floor. Fuyu turned to stare at the direction the noise came, his breaths growing rapidly like he could sense something going awry.
He growled before turning to take a look at Blaire, whom Nayeli held onto so protectively, before turning back to stare into the path of trees that led back to the pack. I could tell that he was considering something.
"Alpha… It's Miller… Please come down here; we need you. Please, Alpha, come immediately." His mindlink was cut off by a loud groan followed by a shrill sound.
Fuyu's eyes widened as he turned to face the path. I blinked at him in shock. His heart rate had intensified, and I could feel the fear and confusion that ran through him.
"Fuyu, what's going on?" My voice went still as a sudden, sharp sound set off in my head, the high-pitched ringing driving me to my knees.
Fuyu stumbled back a little when he felt my pain. “London, are you okay?”
I gritted my teeth, my eyes growing red as a tear slid down my cheek, and red veins bulging on my head as I clenched my ears shut, ignoring the blood that trailed down my right nostril. “I'm-I'm fine." I groaned again, clawing on my ears because that sharp ringing was driving me nuts. “Fuyu, what the fuck is going on?”
Fuyu twisted his head, the distorted ringing driving him a bit crazy as his head twiched, making him growl out in frustration, his canines elongating even further as his bones cracked, and his breaths grew rapid and heavy, like frantic pants, as he kept turning his head, his head twitching increasingly.
Nayeli looked at us in shock, immediately looking down when Blaire jerked up with a loud, strained gasp, black veins growing on her skin, pulsating as she gasped yet again, her body twisting in his arms.
She looked like she was in pain, and her finger dug into Nayeli, making him hiss. Blaire opened her eyes, and my breaths seized because they were pure white, with black veins eating into her eyes, giving her a ghostly, sickly, cruel, and fearful appearance.
Fuyu took one look at her and staggered back, the blood trailing down his nose being his least concern as he took in her appearance. He looked towards the path and back at her, and she tilted her head at him.
I was shocked and speechless because I had no clue what was going on, but Fuyu seemed to be well informed and caught off-guard.
"Fuyu, for the fucking last time, what's going on?” I could care less about the pain I was currently in because the hairs on my skin were standing and the goosebumps on my skin were making me involuntarily turn pale.
Nayeli was equally shocked and dumbfounded, staring at Blaire warily as she jumped out of his arms, standing to face Fuyu with veins bulging on her skin and blood trailing down her legs. She tilted her head at him, her bones making a creaking sound.
“Alpha… It's an ambush. He's too strong for us.” A guard spoke through the mindlink, cries and groans coming from his end of the link.
Fuyu stumbled backwards, his eyes snapping to the trees. He looked calculative and lost in thought before raising his eyes menacingly to stare at Blaire, his left eyes twitching as his bone creaked and his teeth grinding against each other as he struggled to muffle the pain.
I had no idea what was happening to us, but the pain that came with it was overwhelming, and everything about what was going on at the moment screamed danger.
She turned slowly to face Nayeli, and he took a step back, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he took in her appearance. She turned to face Fuyu again, her head snapping to stare at the path that led to the pack, where growls and distorted sounds came from.
“Gü eres dea nio e anas ti?” Her lips tilted upward, a wicked smirk growing on her lips.
Fuyu growled ferociously at her, his face twisting as he fought through the pain. The ringing had become more intense, and we had instantly grown afraid that our heads might explode. My eyes bulged when I heard Blaire speak the old tongue.
“What do you want, Hayes? Leave her alone!” Fuyu growled at him, anger and frustration seeping from his voice.
“You should get to them, Alpha; they need you too.” She smiled creepily at us before lowering her hands to gently pull up her gown and smudge her index finger with blood. Then, with her eyes still stuck on Fuyu and a grin on her face, she licked her bloodstained finger, the black veins on her skin pulsating even more. “They don't have much time either.”
